LL JULY STARTERS

Glad I'm not alone Jez ;)

Sorry didn't get chance to post earlier - have worked 12 solid hours today - samples/orders/working up a new range and then a request from Cosmo Bride for a great wodge of samples for their Feb/Mar issue has all kept me very busy!

Had a good result this week - 5lb so I am pleased as punch with that after last week's disappointment. Just have 2.1 lbs to go to 5 stone which I really hope I make next Tuesday.

The counsellor was away at a funeral, so we had a locum. I asked her about the books to support the development modules and she gave us the new one on target setting and set us some homework. Interestingly a lady from a different night has joined our group as 2 months into developers hardly anyone turns up at hers. She was surprised that there were books to support development as 2 months in she hasn't seen anything from our counsellor - I am so glad I made the point to ask for them.

It had got to the point in our group where all that happens is measuring and chatting. If I wanted to just get weighed and eat packs I could do CD or Exante for a lot less cash so I am putting my foot down about doing more counselling as that is why I chose LL and why I was happy to pay a premium for it.

At this point my husband would say - look at the length of your horse's legs. So I will dismount from my high horse lol!

In other news on impulse we have booked a week in Lanzarote in early December as I found some really cheap flights. Going to stay here....Holiday Lettings - Photos for Bungalow rental in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote - Home 95196
can't wait - Only tiny downside is that I have precisely 0 clothes to wear and don't know what size I will be in 7ish weeks. I will just have to try and get a couple of bits the week before we go. It will be sooo lovely knowing the seatbelt and airplane seat will be comfy. Really really looking forward to it. Don't even mind sticking to packs, just want lovely sun, sea and relaxing.

Well Mel, hope you have a fab result tonight, will look out for your next post.

Big hugs

Wow Peony - Sun in December sounds great!!! I think you will def hit your 5 stone next week!! Well donr you! you are going great guns!

I lost 4.1 this week. So i too am rather pleased. That takes me offically over my 5 stone now.....so on to 6!!

Go Mel, Go Mel!
Great job honey - here's to the next stone. By Christmas you are going to be super tiny. So happy for your latest achievement. Well done you xxxxxxxx

Hi - ive just re-read the start of the thread. There were so many people started in july and havent continued to post......im wondering if they made it or not!! i feel kinda sad for them.

Ive finally put a pic up of one of my new outfits!! its a bit rough, i had been to work all day, but its the sort of style i went for!!

I know what you mean about people. There are not many Maybelles left either! :(

It does make me wonder how they are all getting on.

Fab picture Mel, you are looking brilliant. Know what you mean about dwindling numbers. You and I will have to stick together as the only ones left on the July thread. It's lovely that Kat, SB, Jez & BL pop in with their thoughts and comments too - keeps us from feeling all alone lol! Kat, I must say you really are doing so well. Seriously I know people have said you look younger but it is an incredible transformation, you look a generation apart from the picture of you taken in Greece last year. Good luck hitting your targets over the next couple of weeks and with RTM when the time comes. xxxx

Thank you Peony! You lil treasure, that was a lovely thing to say :)
Jez and I keep the May thread going, just about, but we both hop into every one elses posts so it is not so bad! lol

Lol can we not just start a "shiny happy people who love LL" thread??? Since I can't be part of the developers thread?????

Happy Weekend girlies!!!!

Cheers BL. Sorry your neck is playing you up. You should look at some voice recognition software - get it to do the typing for you.
Jez, you don't have to be doing developers to post on the thread, all posts/support/advice would be welcomed with open arms. I was extolling your virtues at my LL group the other night - telling them how when I do RTM I am gonna try all your fab sounding recipes. You have made really simple plain food into delicious food - I can't bear bland food, your combos are really inspiring. x

*food mentioned

It's bizarre, before starting LL over the preceeding couple of years I had started cooking instead of heating up processed food, and started to enjoy it. I then have enjoyed the complete break from cooking over the past 15 weeks. Now I have become obsessed with programmes like the Nigel Slater one, buying & reading recipe books (love Ballymaloe cookery course and have just ordered Larousse) and spent hours this morning pouring over recipes. It isn't making abstinence harder, just making me really look forward to cooking & eating again.

I have even planned to cook for hubster for the first time in weeks - a porcini risotto as I never used to like risotto and would love to perfect a gorgeous recipe, and a really simple recipe with crushed peas, mint, lemon, feta & pitta. Have you any tips Jez re seasoning etc without being able to taste the food? Being a chef this must have been something you had to find away round when you were in abstinence or did the fact that you are an experienced chef mean you could just 'know' without tasting?

BL is spot on!! My nose became my tasting tool so to speak, eveything smelled much more intense. However I did just sort of guesstimate with things. I usually guesstimate when I cook anyway, but after years of doing it I do have a pretty accurate idea of how to get the flavour I want by the addition or taking away of certain ingredients. I did initially get my chefs to taste for me. Especially because my food mostly gets served to paying clients. The first food tasting I did for a client where I had not actually tasted the food was pretty damn odd, but then I got used to it and got over it. I do not want to get back into the habit of tasting like I used to (ie way too much) so now I try not to, or limit myself to the tiniest little taste. Chefs should after all taste their food. But the not tasting taught me a huge deal and especially how to rely on other senses. Larousse is wicked btw the real bible.

The food porn gets us all in the end hehehehehehehehe!

I have not stopped cooking since I started LL. I went through the recipe book pawing stage, I went through the baking stage, I have now settled back into cooking every day for my partner and 2-3 times a week for family/friends - I love it!

I can't wait to cook exciting new things for me.

I also use my nose to "taste" the food.

thanks for your helpful comments everyone - isn't it strange how this seems to happen to a lot of people on LL. Love the comment about food porn getting us all - really made me laugh. xxx
won't be long before you will be tasting your efforts Kat. x

ohhh yes I know! 16 days till it begins!

Kat xx

Of course you are welcome!!!! xxxxx
