Maintaining your desired weight?

I've joined weightwatchers (which I love) and have a while to go before I get to 10st but does anyone have any advice on how to maintain their goal weight? I love WW but I don't want to be in it forever!!!

Just tips for when I reach it?

Ryder's tips are fab, just adding a few:

Things to eat:

-Veggies

-Fruits

-Lean meats

-Whole grains ("wheat flour" does not mean whole wheat!)

-Reduced or fat free dairy products

-Take in fiber and protein -- more filling.

-Take in good fats such as polyunsaturated and fats found in fish oil.

AVOID...

-Trans/saturated fats

-Excessive Sugar or corn syrups, which are nutritionally the same as sugar

-STARCH. If it's white, don't bite! White flour, rice flour, many cereals/crackers, and chips all contain loads of STARCH ... which turns straight into sugar, which is then stored as fat!

Look at labels. Many snacks and foods say "Whole Wheat" but really only about 30% of the flour is whole wheat while the rest is white. I like looking at the first three ingredients of a product. If any of them are like what I mentioned in my "avoid" list, then I put it back on the shelf! Take Cheerios for example--the second ingredient is corn starch, followed by sugar.

Make your calories count! Ex: The 300ish calories in a donut will not last you nearly as long as 300 calories of a protein shake, 2-3 peices of fruit, or a whole wheat sandwich made with lean meat and vegetables.

:)
