Maintenance: Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Dear All,

As I mentioned in my last post, I have almost 1 stone and 5 lb to reach goal weight and now my BMI is under 25.

However, these last few days have been bad and I have succumbed to the nibbling syndrome and thus the scales have not shifted.

I have restarted yesterday with full and final determination, however, my counsellor has been unable to provide me with a solution for these last pounds. Unfortunately she is not paying due attention to the target that I'd like to achieve (9st3lb) and neither is she giving me a realistic idea of the losses I can expect.

It is relatively easy to gauge weekly weight losses on SS and 790, however, I have no clue about the other levels.

I have tried all day to come up with various maintenance level combinations to lose the weight within a month and a half and I do not know how possible or realistic that is.

So any suggestions on the level I should be on and the time-frame on each level for me to lose this weight would be greatly appreciated to devise a plan, stick to it and know where I am heading.

I'd also greatly appreciate any experiences or ideas of the approx. weekly weight loss on the 1000 plan.

I really cant help you with that. All that I can say is that I know about the starting to get complacent when there is light at the end of the tunnel. This is where I have gone wrong in the past!
It's great that you are so determined. Before you know it you'll be where you want to be.

Hi there

Not sure which plan you're on now, assuming the 1000 cal plan. When your BMI gets to 25 you need to come off SSing and I advise my clients, as it says in the yellow book, to come up the steps doing one or ideally two weeks at a time. If when you get to 1000 you still aren't at goal you can stay on this step a little longer, same with 1200 & 1500.

You will lose weight on all of these steps but obviously it is a lot slower than on SS and everyone is different, but to give you an example, I did one week on 790 (as it knocked me out of ketosis and I felt like cack!), 2 weeks on 1000 and two weeks on 1200 and I lost my last half stone to get to goal. I then moved up to 1500, lost another 1½ lbs and moved up the cals again as I'd got to the point that I didn't want to lose anymore.

You should have the yellow book from your counsellor and it does explain it all in there.

Hi hun

Why not try the LL maintenance program. It lasts for 12 weeks and you introduce different food groups each week.

It's an exciting plan and you always look forward to the next week!! It also teaches you which foods trigger binges (for me it was nuts!).

You lose weight in the first few weeks of management but then stabilise and you naturally find out how many cals you can eat per day. I used this program in conjunction with WLR and got up to 1600 calories without weight gain.

Then my bingeing started so that went out the window lol.

I changed from LL to CD after my cllr quit at v short notice. I'm now using the CD maintenance system, but would prefer to use the LL one. Any ideas where I can get a copy of the LL maintenance book?

To lose 1st and 5lb in 6 weeks when that's all you have left to lose is unrealistic... for this last leg of your weight loss you should be aiming for 1-2lbs per week loss.... Working your way through the steps as detailed in previous posts.... getting to goal might feel like a race to the finish line, but in fact this is where the hard work begins and you learn how to eat in order to maintain your weight loss to date and lose the last 19lbs in a slow and steady manor.
Racing to goal will not help you to learn how to keep your new figure for life.
Remember this is the time when you are most likely to binge (even if it was something you NEVER did before) All your body wants to do is get back to it's previous state with the same level of energy reserves (fat)it had before. You have to train it accept your new lower weight!
In this case slow and steady really does win the race.

I am currently on the 790 plan as my counsellor said that was fine and I could hover around 800 cals by upping the veg intake, so that I am in the safe zone. But from what I understand on this site, I should be on the 1000 plan by now and hence the confusion! :( So I guess I should start the 1000 plan soon! I do have the yellow book. Thanks for being there :)

From what I read above, I should already be on the maintenance plan by now, so wouldn't I need to start from development on the LL program?

But I would love to have the book just for keeps and use it for it's recipes and stuff! :) Thank you for the idea! The maintenance book in CD also offers some scrumptious recipes and I am quite looking forward to that! :) Thanks again for the help! :)

Truer words were never spoken before :)

My body keeps wanting to go for a binge and then promise itself to get back on track the next day, but I know this doesn't work and once I reach goal weight, the diet for life begins!!

I think my race for goal weight stems from the fact that I can't wait to see my belly disappear as I haven't seen myself without a belly for as long as I can remember :(:) I seem to have lost most of the weight in other places but NOT my belly and it really is daunting! Will I ever lose it?

A realistic idea of 1-2 pounds a week is great and I am surely willing to wait after having come this far, but my counsellor didn't provide me with any answers really so I set my own unrealistic goals I guess! :) But thank you for clearing the doubts!! :)
