I'm not that convinced it's anything to worry about - I think a lot of things would last and look unmouldy if it was dehydrated and quite heavily salted too...

Having said that, McDonalds is rubbish food, but I don't think the fact it lasts without mildewing is at all evidence of that.

The woman claims that 'real food breaks down... this can't be real food'... that is clearly not true: dried fruit, rice, pasta, salami's, loads of foods that are dehydrated, basically, last for a very, very long time without changing in appearance. I even found some year old beetroots in the back of a cupboard last week (yuk, I know) - it hadn't gone at all mouldy, just dried out!

I suspect the burger has been dehydrated at some point.

have to say I was thinking along similar lines-real food breaks down when we eat it due to the enzymes etc in our stomachs, and she didnt mention cooking her potato, just said she had chopped them, and er,,doesnt raw potato go black if you leave it ?
I realise the point she is making but think she is also trying to shock, and barking up the wrong tree !

yup... and they regularly find corn and oither foodstuffs well preserved from many centuries ago... doesn't mean corn is not 'real food'

She is comparing a deep fried (so already partially dehydrated) and salted slither of potato with a piece of fully hydrated raw potato... it's like comparing a slice of raw apple with a dehydrated apple ring... we know one will last for months or years, whilst the other will be totally inedible in days.

It's scaremongering rather than science!
