Hello everyone.... I orginally signed up for this forum when I decided to try the Cambridge diet, but in the end I decided against it. Mainly because I have PCOS and the hair loss issue concerned me as I already loose a lot of hair on my head for hormonal reasons. I know this is a heavy going introduction, but I wanted to just give my reasons for chosing diet chef instead.

I was never too concerned about my weight. I'm 5'7 and usually weigh in around the fourteen stone mark. This may sound hefty, but I was still only a size 16 clothes and I have a big frame. (I know the old excuse of being big boned is worn thin among dieters haha but I am quite broad so carry a little extra weight ok). I have a usually fairly active job, I'm a civil engineer so I'm usually running up and down a building site and I eat a hearty diet.

However in the past few months I've been working in the office a lot more and suddenly I ballooned and I'm squeezing into my size 16 clothes and have started to fit into a size 18. I looked in the mirror and just had that DING! Epiphany moment.. so looked into all the various diets again and decided that Diet Chef seemed like the most sensible option for me.

Having weighed myself I'm now 14st 12lbs and to get to a clinically healthy BMI, I need to be 11st 7lbs. As I'm not sure I would actually FEEL and LOOK healthy at 11,7 (If I ever get that far) I've decided that I would like to loose about 3 stone. I would be ECSTATIC to get to 12 stone in time for Christmas.

My hampers arrived this evening so tomorrow will be my first day! I intend to ramble here daily so anyone feel free to join me.. I feel good and positive about this decision right now :-D

I'll probably be feeling a little less jolly tomorrow when I'm sat at work telling my stomach to SHUT UP when it keeps nagging me for biscuits! :'(

Hi Chomp,
Best of luck with the diet.

Thank you for sharing your story. It is always interesting to know something about a person, why they have decided to diet.

If you are not sure what weight you would like to be, just take it hamper, by hamper.

Soooo.. I was actually quite nervous today but it's gone fine.

Had a muesli bar for breakfast, in the car on my way to work at STUPID o clock and I wasn't hungry again until about ten o clock so had a banana. (Instead of my usual toast with butter/bacon buttie).

I was hungry and ready for lunch when it came around, but not distracted starving hungry. I had the Thai chicken soup, which was actually really lovely, and three cracker breads. (My boss actually saunted up to my desk to see what smelt so good haha)

Theeeeen at about 2pm I got a bit peckish so had my snack, the ginger stem cookie things which were nice.

Got home about 5pm, STARVING, but had zumba class so ate a banana and went to that and had meatballs, peas and sweetcorn when I got back for dinner.

So all in all I don't think I did bad, I think I had one extra portion of fruit, but theres no way I could have done zumba if I hadn't have had SOMETHING. Also drank 4 cups of tea (but I have very little milk in it anyway) and about 3 pints of cordial and water. I feel tired and satisfied, so won't be kept awake by hunger \o/

How is everyone else doing and did you all find the first couple of days hard or easy? I think I was expecting it to be a lot harder than it was, and it helps that the food is actually really nice (I just wish there was about 3 times as much of it in a serving ;) )

Added: Thanks for the welcomes and advice guys. That's the plan small steps, I've signed up for three months so I can see what I weigh after that and maybe judge some realistic end goals :)

I'm so glad your first day went so well:D

I really enjoy all of the foods. Portions do seem small, but you will adjust. I felt hungry for the first 10 days when I went to bed, but then I realised I had not been eating my full 1200 calories (the food provided is only 800 calories or so)

I prefer to have my larger meal at lunchtime, then the soup in the evening. I feel hungrier while I am at work.

Zumba is great! I have been to a couple of classes. My new hobby is walking/jogging.

Sounds like you have got off to a flying start! I agree with you re your banana before zumba, you would prob have keeled over had you not had anything!

I lost 4lbs in my first week (only did it for 4 days though as went on holiday) - then had 2 weeks off on holiday but i stayed the same, so I was chuffed not to have gained! I started back on Monday, so fingers crossed for this week!

Hope the rest of your week continues to be good for you!
