Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

My sister was like you with all 3 of her girls, she had a list of 10 or so names she liked but didn't love, and said the minute they were born she exactly which name suited them best :)
My Mam has always said that's the way to do it.. Now am hoping she's right!!!!
I was to be Caroline for my Mam's whole pregnancy if I was a girl... Then I came out n she said "oh no.. she's def not a caroline.. She's a Frances!!!" (Personally I'd have preferred Caroline!!!! ;)

We had 2 top names and some other names on a list for Stevie - took us just short of a week to decide on Stevie :) I recall being in hospital and hubby said to me - so have we decided? I said ok and he sent a group text to everyone and then said 'too late now if we change our mind cos I e told everyone' lol :)

I love his name and suits his perfectly!! :) xxx
LOL.... Not that it matters but I think you've named him perfectly.. He DEF suits his name...

Noooooo. You can't have a nameless baby. Sorry just me and my personal pet hates ;)

We have had baby names sorted before I was even pregnant hehe
I know!!! Its always been a pet hate of mine too so I hear ya...
I was always like "how could they not have a name picked??? They've had best part of a year to make a decision!!"
Now though I can see how people do it.. lol

I had my baby names sorted from years back... They were going to be Lucy and Ben... Girl first, boy second.. That's how I was going to order them (;)) But then I got (back) with Jonathan (Lee) and he spend our whole time TTC saying Lucy Lee sounds like a porn star and has turned me off the name.. I can't think Lucy Lee and not think porn star!!!
Obviously we could solve that problem by giving baby my surname, as we're not married and its not in our plan to get married.. And even if I did marry him... I'd keep my name! Its who I am! But J won't have it....

Nooo i haven't got names sorted yet!!! I'm really finding it hard to decide....we like a few names but nothing is jumping out at me and i am really struggling with the responsibility of chosing a name he/she has to have for life!!!! Plus matching names with our surname (Lea, pronounced Lee) is REALLY hard - so many girls names end in the 'E' sound, and then it just sounds silly (or porn star-ish!).....like my full name is Kimberley Lea....far too many 'lee's' in there lol and then if it's Kim Lea I sound flipping chinese!!! Why did i marry a man with an impossible surname?! haha.

I'm determined not to have a "Baby Lea" and want it to have a name when it's born so i am hoping for some inspiration to hit sometime soon!
I hear ya Kim!! Feckin' stupid surname... (Kidding!)
Although if my baby is nameless in hospital it'll be Baby O'Reilly ;)

We also have the added pain of names sounding silly... Like... Belle is a nice girls name.. But Belle Lee (Belly)!!!
Its such a pain in the A Hole

Well girls I'm 38 weeks today so thought it was time I tidied the lady garden!! Bloody hell it was hard work. I just couldn't see. Got a mirror but even that was hard work. Gave up and thought sod it, the midwifes will have seen worse so I'm just going with au natural for now. Still recovering from trying to be a contortionist with a massive belly!! Sorry of tmi!

Haha I had the same problem! I've no idea what it looked by the time she was born! I tried using cream and it sort of worked but it got somewhere it shouldnt (sorry if tmi!) and I practically needed scraping off the ceiling it stung so much!
But yes, as a mw have seen all sorts and it really doesn't matter.
Re legs, I couldn't shave properly as my bump was too big and had a poorly hip so couldn't twist, so I got a bottle of veet cream (was on offer) and that worked really well and lasted for a while too. Plus it's quick so when my contractions started and were like period pains I jumped in the shower and did my legs!

Even though we had a name for Cole, and told them it as soon as he was born, on all his hospital stuff and his wrist bands it says 'Babyboy Ward'. I know why they do it but he's not a Ward and never will be.

lol I got hubby to sort that out for me a day or so ago in preparation :p Haha. I havnt been able to do it myself for a month or two :D

I'll be having another wax before D Day lol... I won't feel comfortable unless the lot has gone! The pain doesn't bother me, it hurts, but it's not dreadful and the way I see it is that I have to have a watermelon come out of me soon which is going to be a hundred times worse lol ;) x

I tres my best to trim and be tidy for my induction (knowing meant I had no excuse!) but then due to my 'problems' I literally was too scared to touch it till I got the all clear 9 weeks after Stevie was born! And of course young male doctor was the one to examine me! Lol. He must think married ladies with babies really let themselves go!!

Even not I'm scared thinking I will catch my scan and split it open lol. I know that's not even possible but I still believe it sometimes!! Xx

I will try to trim and tidy again but to be honest I'm not sure it really helps much. I'm not going to be waxed and wouldn't dare ask Paul to do it.... So mw will just have to think I'm a tramp! Lol

il be tidying up when im due to!

I'm the same.. Wouldn't even dream of asking J to do it and even if I did I know what he'd tell me.. lol
And not a chance of me waxing..
I managed to shave around there a couple of weeks ago and after the regrowth uncomfortablness I won't be doing that again either...
I'll use my lady shaver thing as best I can closer to the time but really not expecting to be perfectly groomed by any means...

things we ladies have to go through!! lol

The lady garden convo is fab lol! I ended up not bothering as I couldn't see to shave and I couldn't ask Colin to do it. Honestly though, you'll not give a toss once you're actually in labour and every man and his dog has seen your bits ;) I ended up being partially shaved for the section in the end, the wound is really low down so I don't think I'll be shaving for a while as I'm worried about catching it! :/

Couldn't agree more. From the way all the medical staff were I don't even think they see it as a lady garden. It's just a hole to be poked and prodded!!!

Morning ladies!!! :) xx

I wish! Although daddy did pants changing duty so at least I didn't have to get out of bed. ;)

I'm nappy duty, we've got a deal going on!!
