Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

What's his favourite football team for example? U could theme his food to either the colour or summat. Or make baby orientated things - milk pudding, poo pie lol maybe not!! Ha x

Poo pie! Haha. He's a man Utd fan. So red and black? Is that their colours? He's also a Cas Tigers fan so that's orange and black....beans on burnt toast? ;) x

It sounds better than poo pie hehe x

Why don't you do him a voucher book? Obviously you put no sexy stuff as cole will be with you but you could put some 'interesting' things in your voucher book? (Will leave you to think of those!)
And some others like 'a cup of tea in bed', 'foot massage', 'favourite meal cooked on request' etc. x

Good idea!! I could still do the sexy ones for when Cole isn't there so he gets to use them later on. And I can put in things like 'an hour of Cole cuddles' as well as things I can do for him :)
Think I need to take myself off shopping tomorrow...x

Ladies with babies (and pregnant ones as well but I hope I don't put you off....tho it's a bit late I guess!)
Just wondered if any of you had a similar experience/know of anyone who has...
I had quite a large episiotomy which healed well, no infection or anything but....Unfortunately DTD after Abigail has been a bit of a disaster for us. Put simply there is a bit of skin at the bottom, where they did the episiotomy that has been pulled a bit too tight and it's really really sore when we have tried. It's unbearable tbh. Been back to Hosp, got given anaesthetic cream which means we can do it but then I can't feel ANYTHING an also had to see a nurse specialist who gave me dilators (they are vile!) to use.
Still no better. So am going in on Thurs for day surgery where the consultant is going to remove the damaged skin and scar tissue and 'mend' it.
Thing is, it might not work. I don't know what I will do if it doesn't! It's really affected us tbh, we had a good sex life before (sorry if tmi) and now it's practically disappeared. Benn has been really good and is really understanding and wants to do other stuff but I always feel under pressure to DTD (using cream) and it turns me off. It doesn't help that I can't have a coil put in until I get it sorted as they can't insert a speculum and that makes me twitchy as well even though we use condoms.
Sorry guys, this has turned into a bit of a essay! But any experiences you can share or tell me of would be great. It's getting me down and even though it should be ok following Thursday I'm worried in case it's not!
I know sex isn't the be all and end in a relationship but it was an important part of ours and I miss it! Xx

I can't offer you any advice as we've not dtd yet after my episiotomy but didn't want to read and run when you're always fab at replying to our questions.
I don't 'feel' any different down there and when I looked in a mirror I couldn't actually see my scar. Like I said in a previous post we've dry humped a fair bit and (also tmi!) Tom rubbed against me and poked me a bit with himself and it felt ok, just tight. But we've not dtd since we found out I was pregnant in May (Tom put us on a sex ban with us trying for so long and me having a couple of bleeds in the early days) so I may have just bloody healed up ;)
Hopefully the surgery will work and you'll be back to your old self soon. I know what you mean about missing the sex, the past ten months have been a killer for us. Hope they sort it for you xxx

Hi, Yes kind of got some advice... I had this with forceps delivery and afterwards i could of sworn it was too tight. I mentioned it to midwife day after when i was at home but she was no its normal to repair tighter... She checked and all was healing ok. Well 4 days after Jacob was born i had to go to emerg docs as i was in so much pain just going to the toilet! long story short one of the stitches split, went to hospital and they said its ok to heal on its own as theres no loose skin or like a gaping hole...
So left things to heal but sex afterwards was painful. its like the skin at the bottom is too tight? Is that like what you mean? And sometimes burns/feels like going to split sometimes on inserting? sorry ladies if its TMI!
but yeah we have to be careful on the positions we do otherwise it kills!! And occasionally afterwards im so sore on that bit :/
id go ahead with the surgery even if theres possibility it wont work, as atleast it could help. xx

Thanks both. Sarah I hope things are ok for you when you do DTD. If not I would suggest getting it seen to ASAP. I waited cos I thought it would sort itself out but I was wrong!
Jess that's exactly what it feels like but in my case when you look in the mirror you can see it's pulled off to the side? It's ok if you sort of pull the perineum 'downwards' (like towards your bum) but it doesn't look normal tho I can't see the scar as such. I did think I would be able to manage until next time like you, avoiding certain positions etc but if anything it's got worse.
I wonder how many people there are out there with the same problem?
Hopefully yours will be sorted this time and you won't need stitches so it can heal as it's intended to be xxx

tbh ive not looked!! Things obviously feel different down there too which took a while to get used to as it didnt feel normal for me anymore :/

Can't say I'm looking forward to these bits...

hi Susie, no advise yet I'm afraid but I also had an episiotomy and it's got infected :( I'm on antibiotics which I finish tmrw morning and I don't feel like the infection has gone, guess I need to go back to doctors tmrw and get something stronger. Really upset about it as did everything they told he to do and was really careful..

I'm sorry to hear your still having problems, hopefully this procedure will make things better for you xx

Hi Suzie

As u know I'm also an episiotomy survivor...we have DTD three times (if I can recall) since I was given the ok and each time it has stung and feels the skin is stretch lots...I am assuming this is normal and will go over time and more DingTD but cos it's sore hubby is reluctant.
I don't think I'm like you are however I did have it re done just over 2 weeks after having it done the first time.
Although it might be painful again this week it will only be a small amount if the cut in comparison to what you've had done previously! :) I'm sure u will be fine and think about how it could possibly make a huge change for the better!! Xx

Pink hun don't let it scare you! You might deliver okay and not need one...

To me I think the common mistake is they're stitching is too tight. And when we DTD it's not 'giving' which os painful and sore :/ just take it easy and lots of lube for first few months! X

Yeah I hope so! I hope it gets better for you as well - maybe having it re-done sooner rather than later is the way forward!
Xxx

[QUOTE=Jess
Yes pink, don't be too worried! I've caught lots of babies where mummies haven't needed stitches at all, let alone episiotomies, I think we are just an unlucky bunch!

Jess I do agree re the tightness thing but as someone who does suture ladies bits when the need arises it's a really difficult one to call. Often it's swollen so you do it a little tighter to account for the fact the swelling will go down and you don't want it gaping. I will alter my practice from now on though and do things a little looser.
I just hope that the ladies who I have put back together are ok! :s

Susie, question about this - my stitches came away so I have to heal naturally, I guess that means I won't have the same issues you and Jess have? xx

I hope your op goes well Susie and it sorts out the issues you're having.

I think I'm the only one who didn't have an episiotomy but only because I had a c section instead! :/ We've not done well between us! xxx

Probably not as the skin will come together naturally. To some extent healing by secondary intention (which is what it's called when left after stitches have come apart) can be better although it's hard for you at the time. Make sure you do your pelvic floor exercises! Xxx
