Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Missy they have said it all but I do agree. Not everyone has the overwhelming rush, I didn't and I know some of my friends didn't, one in particular I can think of. In the same way not everyone is affectionate in public with their partner or says 'I love you' every day but it doesn't mean they don't. You clearly love going out and about with Seth and are enjoying him growing up and doing new things. Easy for me to say I know but try not to worry about what's perceived as the 'right' thing to do, you know what's best for you and Seth and you're doing a grand job xxxx

Well said... I agree!! X

well ladies regarding the monitors... hubby wanted to stay cheap as money not brilliant atm with house renevations. So ordered the 3rd one been at i think was £75.

All looks good, reasonable size etc. I tested them out and oh my how cr@p they were!!! It was day time, had it set on Jacob playing in living room and you could basiclly see his outline of boy. It was terrible! So packed it up and sent it back. Just payed out the rest to get the bottom ones the model 36 ones. cant remember who posted they've got that one but i cant wait for it to arrive!

So ladies i wouldnt waste your money on the mbp28 model! xx

ok ladies... Baby monitors!!

We had the Motorola mbp35 . night vision, showed room temp, and could speak to baby though it and play lullabies

We got this when i was Pregnant with Jacob so been used for approx 2.5 years now. Which sadly the camera broke last night!!!! Just would not work, so fair enough its had its usage..

Now im looking at a new one, but needs to be camera ones as cant find any audio ones with double camera (of when this baby comes)

What would you refer? And reference or advice? Cheap as poss, with a good meter range for nights were in hot tub ;) and 2 monitors! x

But not sure what to do :(

Think I'm gona get a canera monitor too. Borrowed an angel car may from my friend but, although only set it up today do not tested it properly yet (home alone) am not impressed!!! Eabha has to proper cry before it really registers on the monitor... The little mutters or coughs don't show on it!! And it's right at her Moses basket do its not like it too far... It's about 2 foot away from her

Check the back of the unit attached to the mat and there is a sensitivity gage. The higher the number the more sensitive got mine on highest and can even here him sigh from time to time :) think mine is set at 4 x

Yeah that's what I read on google body's working and more blood etc, feels so weird though like a little persons knocking on my heart with a little tiny hammer lol x

Hey

Palpitations can be normal due to increased blood flow and volume.
I would go and get your bp checked if it's not been done recently and also if it continues let your gp know xx

The mbp35 we had previously was fab! The range was fantastic for when we were in hot tub some evenings (when he was over 1.5yrs! Not a newborn lol)
You can okay lullabies to them through the unit and speak too like walkie talkies. So in pretty excited to get the model up to see what new things I can play about with lol.
Plus you can hear him wriggling around sometimes or even snoring which was adorable!! Xx

Yeah I think it's normal as I've had them a fair few times. BP is ok though x

They just said my blood pressure was a bit low. I was trying to explain that it felt really fast but my pulse was fine but feels like its going to come out my chest! Not had them for a bit now so hopefully eased of - so annoying!

Slightly random question guys, don't know if anyone had experience of this...
Benn, Abbie's dad has a severe nut allergy requiring an epipen and he's had several close calls in the past.
We don't have nuts at all at home obviously but as it can be passed on, I'm concerned that Abbie might have it and we aren't aware. I would rather avoid the situation where she is inadvertently exposed and reacts and we end up in ITU etc! Especially since although we are so very careful, grandparents and friends etc may not be.
I asked the hv and she said ask the gp, I asked the gp and she said speak to the hv.
Would allergy testing be indicated? If not what do we do? I would rather not wait for her to have an anaphylactic reaction before we become aware of it...
Thanks in advance! X

Hi dont know about allergy testing but i was told that an allergic reaction can only be caused with second contact to the allergen . This wont help really incase it happens twice!. I would def push for testing its a constant worry for you. X

Hey Susie
Ask your GP to write to the local paediatrician who has a specialist interest in allergy. They can test at any age but tend to leave it until toddlers as the tests are unreliable until the child has been exposed to the allergen. As dads allergy is so severe they may do it sooner or offer advise on when is best to test.

My instructions said I could change it to vary the sensitivity and as it was on 2 to start with we had a few false alarms when he started rolling around his cot so knocked it up had no alarms since and get to hear cute little grunts as he is moving during the night... ok and he has just started talking in his sleep! x

We did the same - the sensitivity on the pad is fine but the volume took a bit of messing with. I think ours is on 4 as well? We've had no false alarms yet with the sensor, it's only ever gone off when we've forgotten to disarm it when taking him out of the basket ;)

And thank you everyone. If I'm honest I'm jealous, I wanted that instant bond, that rush of love. I didn't get it and I don't know why :/ I can relate to a lot of what you said Nelly Susie and Cai, I don't feel quite so lonely about it all now so thank you especially. xxx

Ok thank you! It's worrying at the moment, we wouldn't expose her to nuts knowingly but obviously can't speak for others! So I have no idea if she's been exposed already. Will speak to theGP again xx

We forgot to put it on hold nearly every time! lol then it's a mad rush before the alarm really sets in!
