I just saw someone post on another section that if you chop fruit up then its no longer free. Thats not right is it or has it changed.

Chopping fruit doesn't change the syns you're right Starlight!

The things that stop fruit being free are cooking, blending, juicing or mashing it as this changes the structure of the fruit sugars and makes it quicker for your stomach to digest (meaning you burn less calories digesting it, and it doesn't keep you full for as long).

No it is not true. If you blend it, juice it or cook it you can consume far more of it than you would if you were eating it in it's natural state and it then has a syn value but chopping it up does not give it a syn value.

Thanks guys thats what I thought too but wanted to check. I hate seeing wrong info being given out, specially when its now put someone off SW

And I think my sis in law (whos doing SW from home) would have had a nervous breakdown if I told her that her fruit salad had to be synned :giggle:

Can you imagine if you wanted a bit of fresh pineapple or watermelon and chopping it gave it syns - it's not really something you can eat without chopping it?!!

But that would mean you wouldn't be able to bite it into smaller portions either, and we'd all be trying to swallow whole melons and pineapples!
