Refeeding Preperation

I'll be refeeding in 11 days, I'm both anxious and excited to be eating again. I've been reading and studying the refeed sheet over and over again, but I'm a litte confused with some of the instructions.

Day 1 -
Breakfast:
(Fully understandable)

Lunch:
You may have tuna fish in water or brine (drained).
Do they mean 1 tin or 4-6ozs?

You can have milk in tea/coffee.
Skimmed or semi-skimmed or whole?

Day 2 -Fully understandable

Day 3 -
you may also have at one meal only - an 8 ounce potato, plain boiled, mashed or baked, but with no addition of any fat
How can I get a potato to weigh 8 ounces exactly? I'd be at the supermarket all day. No addition of fat, does this include tuna?

You may like to top with some skimmed milk, plain yoghurt or very low fat fromage frais and a sprinkle of herbs.

What kind of herbs?

Days 4-7 :

Each day have...

  • up to 3 small servings of fruit what kind of fruit?

  • Up to 2 slices of bread or 1 pita or 1 bagel (without fatty spread) So when it comes to sliced bread, in 1 whole day I'm only allowed 2 slices? and what kind of fatty spreads is not allowed? is butter not allowed even if it's a light, low calorie version?

  • any of te skimmed milk products What are these products?

In the example menu it says that I can have a sandwhich as an evening meal in brackets it says

(no spread of any sort) What are these spreads?

When can I stop having LT shakes for breakfast and start having cereal or toast or eggs?

Fromage Frais are practically non existant as far as I'm concerned around here. I can't find any. Are weight watchers yoghurts allowed instead?

By heck love that's a lot of questions!!!! Mind you, I had lots myself and rang the helpline for advice. If no-one can help you on here then try them.

Tuna - I suspect a drained tin will be about 4-6oz

Milk - personally I'd go for skimmed as it is lower in fat, although I still can't face it in mine yet and I used to love a milky tea!

Potato - 8oz is a big 'un, try 2 small if that helps and it doesn't have to be exactly 8oz

Herbs - whatever you fancy!

Fruit - pears have the lowest GI values if that helps.

Spreads - I think they mean margarine, butter, etc best to avoid all of them for at least a fortnight if not longer, you will get used to it. You could try a very low fat mayo for savoury sandwiches

Skimmed milk products - yoghurts (WW are very yummy), fromage fraise

Breakfasts - I'd wait a bit before introducing them - at least avoid for the first 2 weeks and be careful with cereals as even "healthy" ones have been shown to have high levels of salt and sugar - check out the latest Which report about them

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

xx

Ooo thank you, this has really helped.

I'm going to be following refeed for 2 weeks as I've lost 5 stones. Better to refeed for longer when you've lost a lot. So cereals and stuff will wait I guess. Oh and I know exactly which ones to get. Been doing my research :D

Good luck babe, you have done amazingly well and deserve this success, for one so young you have always talked a lot of sense and have shown determination and commitment. Well done.

Hi Yasmine, I find it best to keep off cereals altogether as I always found myself craving more carbs by mid morning!!! Some very lean grilled bacon with grilled toms/mushrooms, or boiled/poached/scrambled eggs with once small slice wholemeal toast kept me going through to lunch as I feel protein staves off hunger far more effectively.

I know I should avoid cereal in the beginning, but staying away from it is something I just can't do I'm afraid ^_^''. If I do that, I'll end up binging on it if I deprive myself of it. I used to have cereal and it would last me until around 3-4pm. Very unhealthy I know :(.

I'm not too fond of fry ups or stuff like that in the morning. I don't really like heavy breakies, but I might give it a go anyway. Good to try something new :D

I don't have much time in the morning, so I usually go for the cereal.

Thanks for the help though
