Scared of the See-saw

Gemstone

Here for the Journey
Scared of the See-Saw

Scared of the see-saw that glides up and down
Not like the predictable merry-go-round
Relying on someone you trust not to jump
Leaving you there to go down with a bump

Its trust makes you sit on the see-saw each time
With a motion as smooth as an old nursery rhyme
It takes you to somewhere last seen in a dream
Evokes powerful feelings of family and team

Then reality hits as the motion subsides
And you suddenly see that it no longer glides
And here you are up in the air all alone
There’s no-one below and you fall like a stone

You sit on the merry-go-round and you smile
And look at the world that goes round like a dial
Then you hear someone say “Come and see-saw with me”
And you wonder if trust is just lies we believe

I sit here suspended alone in mid-air
And wonder if trusting is too hard to bear
My naivety mocks me and fear knows no bounds
As I wait for the bump and I fall to the ground

Scared of the see-saw that glides up and down
Not like the predictable merry-go-round
Relying on someone prepared not to jump
Leaving you there to go down with a bump
