Scared to be starting Pro Points

    Hi all!

    I have been following slimming world since January and although I feel it's a great healthy diet, I find it very hard to follow as I eat out a lot and because of the job I do I'm often grabbing food on the go. A friend has had an amazing weight loss on ww sp I'm going to give it a go.

    My mum has given me the pro points initial folder & I've ordered a shop book off eBay as I can't afford to go to classes at the moment.

    I've downloaded a points calculator (iwatchr) on the iPhone, does anyone know if this is accurate?

    I feel quite lost by the ww points and quite scared to be starting today. If anyone has any words of wisdom or tips I would really appreciate it.

    Morning !! firstly, like most diets WW does work if you stick to it.
    I have done sw in the past and the old ww points system and at different times of my life each have suited me.

    With pro points I really like the extra weekly points that you get-could really help you with the eating out assiciated with your job.

    Starting any new diet is scarey until you get into it and I'm sure you will be fine once you get going.

    Not used the points calculator app myself so I cant comment but i do know that e-source has been found to be unreliable at times.

    There are lots of folks on here who will be more than willing to give you any advice and support you want or need.

    Now what have you got to loose ? oh appart from weight that is !!

    Thanks for that. I've checked the points calculator on my phone against the cardboard wheel calculator and everythings coming out the same so thats going to make life much easier!

    I feel a little better about the plan already, just getting my head around it.

    I am confused about the fruit though - I know tinned fruit in juice is free with juice drained, but I have lots of grapefruit in light syrup. I keep reading that this is not free but have no idea how to work out what the point value would be!

    Would I just do the nutritional value off the tin? Or would this be wrong as that also gives the info for the grapefruit itself which is 0points?

    I've had a look for you and it's looking like it's 5pp for 1/2 a tin but presumably that's having the juice too ...not showing anything for the pp of it drained but I'd probably count it at 2pp incase the syrup has gone into the grapefruit x

    Hello! I agree about SW being healthy but think that at the moment WW may suit me better...

    Just wanted to say thanks for your help to a newbie last week, I have just weighed in and have lost 2.5lbs :). Am so pleased as im on annual leave from work as it was my bros 21st and I have eaten out 5 times, all within my points though! I have also come on which usually makes me put on an just makes the week a write off. To have still lost feels amazing!

    Really feel motivated and good to go!

    Lanky - the plan has changed hugely from he original points, I think it's worth joining a class to get the books, or get the books on eBay and get a calculator app if you have an iPhone. Don't think you could really do this plan without a calculator. I highly recommend it though! x
