Yeah there's been a couple of people saying that a special chow mein from the the chinese is 9pp which I simply find hard to believe. It's listed in the eat out guide as 9pp apparantly but I think this is half the portion you'd get in a takeout if I'm being honest. The noodles alone must be 9pp...

No its a full portion. Chinese food is great points wise and chow mein is the lowest in points so enjoy your WHOLE portion :)
I think my local must be pretty bad then because they fry stuff in quite a lot of oil - far more than I'd suggest on the plan. Which is why I generally avoid.

I'm not saying it's wrong. All I'm saying is I've weighed the noodles in a special chow mein and they generally come out at 7-8pp alone. Maybe my local just does it differently then.

It is yummy :) I pointed loads of the sauces/flavourings, the stir fry stuff like soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce etc, and they all come out at 0 points, the veg in a chow mein will all be 0 points unless your place does a weird potato-ey chow mein :S so it is just the meat and noodles that'd count towards the total. Scoff away!!! :D

I think you must be getting mixed up with Discovery points( the old plan) and pro points.... Long tray of chicken chow mein is 7 1/2 points on Discovery, best to double check with your leader :)

It will be few more in pro points I would imagine but then you get more pro points to allow for it so it should just balance out. But you'll need to know the proper pro points so you can keep track. I do discover and have at least one chow at the weekend....num num. If you like spicy try it Singapore style, it's lovely.

You'd think you'd be right, but according to the ww eat out guide (definitely Pro Points not discover!!) a special chow mein is indeed 9PP. There are so many discrepancies I hesitate to believe it, especially as you say it's not really an increase from discover when everything else has increased... just have to decide whether to trust WW or not I guess!!

I had a chicken chow mein yesterday so I hope it isn't too far off 9 points!! They need to point up some more values and be more specific with portion sizes otherwise we are always eating in fear lol

Its virtually impossible though with something as generic as chow mein since everywhere makes it differently.

I just can't believe there's 9pp in a tray of chow mein from the Chinese. Don't get me wrong, I wish it were but can't see how the noodles, sauce and mixed meat can be only 9pp.

yeah i feel the same, but at least if they said a rough value for so many grams of it it would be easier to estimate the points. That way i'd weigh it out and have some idea hehe

A full long tray of chicken chow is definitely 7 1/2 on the old plan which I thought was amazing when I first started. But have eaten them every week and had successful losses from the start.
