Syn free recipe but includes syn foods??

Ok, so the stubborn newbie is really confused.

My OH has asked for quiche to be on the menu next week, attempting to be prepared for the syns Ive been recipe hunting and found a SW (just don't tell the OH) crustless quiche that is free of syns . This got me thinking (dangerous times)....how can a recipe which includes cheese be syn free? If I ate a block of cheese i'd have to count it as syns but if I put it in a quiche it's syn free?

I just don't get it o_O

MyticalT...is mystified!

Thanks, it's a shame the recipes don't tell you this. Looks like I'm going to have to analyze recipes more than I thought to avoid going over! I assume I can just add the cheese as a syn if I've already had the HE?

@MysticalT have you tried balancing your syn allowance over the week rather than daily? You could have the quiche and other food. It's not all lost. I'm sure the recipes used to state something like "6 syns if not using cheese as a Healthy Extra " its pants if they've stopped doing that. I haven't bought a magazine for ages. Good luck, keep the faith.
