The Wedding Dress Thread

Someone mentioned the other day about wanting to see different styles of bouquets and I meant to post mine but I forgot and I've been back and can't find who it was to quote them so my picture doesn't seem so random but this was my bouquet.

I was actually referring to the lady who told one of the girls she was to big for any of these dresses.

Oh well you know if the tv says she's nice obviously I must be wrong and I've made up my experience!

(kingleds I hope you read this in jest as it was meant)
That was me! :)
Yes it seems sarcasm doesn't come across sometimes but glad its all sorted now xxx

I took my girls to debenhams to try on different styles to see what suited (i had 8 bridesmaids from size 6 to 16) I originally liked calf length halter neck dresses but when they tried them on it only suited one of them lol.

In the end we found a style that suited them all and because I was having royal blue it suited all hair colours and skin tones but debenhams was a great help!

Also I'm my sisters bridesmaid in august and I will be 8 months pregnant so I'm having a different style to the other five girls but the same colour :)

What's people's thoughts on the bridesmaids dresses? Being that I am going to be one later this year want to look bloody lovely too but you know how it goes, can't upstage the bride :D Not that I would (she is athletic, 5 ft 10, part Danish with long blonde hair and blue eyes - we call her the Amazonian god!) but just don't know what the 'rules' are xx

I personally wanted my bridesmaids to look good and feel comfortable as i myself hate being told what to wear!! And as they were paying for them it was only fair...............think we did quite well :)

ooooh they're lovely!!! :)

I'm only having one bridesmaid and she is lovely and slim so looks great in everything. I told her i wanted a deep red colour and sent her off! she's picked a lovely knee length dress from monsoon which i then went and bought. She looks fab in it. managed to escape without any bridezilla moments.....however...she has since bought herself shoes to go with it...but they're REALLY high and seeing as she is tall like me she will like attack of the 50 ft woman looming above me and OH. I've not said anything as i've been really laid back about everything so not sure whether to just let it go. Its probably not a big deal. :D

Could be... No one commented on mine either! Still, I think I look fab in it!

I am surprised that some people found dress shop staff rude. The shops I went into had lovely staff. That said, I did call ahead to every one and check that they would have something for me to try on in a 24. I would have been mortified to go somewhere and be told I was too fat to even try anything on.

I'm sorry I didn't comment on yours because flicking back yours actually did stand out in my mind, I love the detailing on the front, were you a size 24 in that photo? You looked slimmer than that x

It will only really be an issue in photo's really, I guess! I wouldn't like to say anything either cos i'm a wimp ;) maybe some helpful hints that she will be on her feet most of the day and will they be comfortable? I let my bridesmaids choose there own but they were all shorter than me but i didn't really think about it!!

High five to being a laid back bride :D

ha ha! thanks - i'm only going by my own previous bridesmaid experience so that helps a lot. She's bought flats to wear in the evening as she isnt really a high heel type of girl anyway - i was so shocked when she got them out of the box! it's just the photos that will be an issue but its not a big deal - i'll just stand on a box or make her crouch down a bit! :D

I feel her pain, i felt so unsteadty in my fab blue satin heels that i walked down the aisle bare foot and changed into the sparkly flats i'd bought for the reception :D Not that you could tell otr anything and looking at the photo's it put me and my bridesmaids at the exact same height!!!! Meant to be i reckon x

I've picked a navy blue fabric with white polka dots and each of the adults are having a 50's style prom dress but all unique- one is having a full swing skirt, 2 inbetweeners then one pencil skirt.

Polka dot 50s dresses ooooooh can I be a bridesmaid Jez?! :flirt2:

Some lovely dresses on here, does kinda make me want one!

X

I got married in October, so went for Autumn colours....here are my flowers.
They were tied with a plaited ribbon so no 'leakage' on dresses. Studded with pearls down the ribbon. VERY HEAVY!!! (or i am a wimp!)

Aww thanks guys I loved the colour blue I had, it really stood out and I was so pleased that my florist could dye my roses to match the bridesmaid dresses hehe,my husband had a big blue rose for his corsage and everyone else had white roses but my bridesmaids had white carnations as one of them has terrible hayfever but she can cope with carnations lol.

bridesmaid dresses - i got mine online from Hong Kong i think - made to measure, corset backs and little bolero jackets. Chocolate brown with an ivory ruched sash. Floor length dresses with no straps.

Leakage? What is going to leak? You mean like bits of green stuff from the stalks? (I'm sure that's not the scientific wording!)

yeah green sap and stuff! I think some flowers are prone to leakage!!! :D

I had Mango Cala Lillies and Roses and Gerberas. Not sure if they leak or not! x

I'm having roses and gerberas too. With blue eryngium although I'm still not sure about that. Anyone have it in their bouquet?

Gerbs are my favourite and come in exactly the colour I want.

Mainly water and maybe a bit of green from the stems - I got told if it rained on me the blue dye would run onto my dress out of my flowers! Luckily it was a lovely sunny day lol.

I've seen plenty of people with unbound flowers, I just think I would have been paranoid about it for my bridesmaids. I had to have a holder with my flowers because there were so many roses and because the design was a shower I don't think you can have them with ribbon (but I'm not a florist so maybe you can lol) but she said because of the weight I needed a holder.

My bridesmaids were the round bouquets though and they were bound in ribbon but ill see if I can find a close up of theirs.

I love the ones that are a ball of flowers with a ribbon loop I think they look so sweet especially when you have children bridesmaids

I was the awkward one with flowers but being the bride all my flowers were not smelly :D
