Toffee apples - don't bother!

I was so excited to see a recipe in the latest SW mag for toffee apples that are only 2.5 syns each. I tried to make them today. The recipe says makes 8 - I got 2!!!
And working out the syn value i worked out that it would have been 10 syns per apple. :cry:

Am not really sure. It says that the mixture will reduce as it boils but for it to become toffee it reduces to nothing. I used small apples so don't think they were the problem.
