Hope that helps clarify your problem a bit?

I can totally sympathise with your situation, because it sounds a lot like I used to be - dieting brilliantly for a week or two, then ordering the two-for-one pizzas and eating them both. And then doing it again the next night because if you've fallen off the wagon, why bother? Two steps forward, one-hundred and fifty back. But here's the point of the TL thread - guess how much my sympathy is going to help you get thinner? Not at all. So don't come asking for it, because you're barking up the wrong tree.

There's a million diets out there, and they have their fans and their haters. It doesn't really matter which you choose - if you have a well-thought-out diet plan and a well-thought-out exercise plan, and you follow them strictly and honestly, you will lost body fat. It's both 'that easy' and 'that difficult.'

If you want my advice on a diet, it's this: cut out processed food, and cut out snacks. These are the two things that combine to make food addiction, and that is what causes you to have those blow outs. Eat your 2000 calories a day, spread across three mealtimes, and having nothing but water to drink in between. Combine that with your excellent exercise levels and you'll soon be back to lean and trim.

My advice on sorting your life out - start planning ahead what you are going to eat, and stick to the plan. WW, SW and others are ways to make this easier if you don't like the maths of calorie counting. Post your plans in here, and when you stick to them, you'll get a cheer, and if you miss, you'll get a smack. You'll soon learn that you prefer cheers to smackings.

Home from holidays. I'm not going to pretend I was perfect but it was different to other holidays when I've thought aaaah f it and ate all round me. I did behave pretty well apart from the wine. I was surprised how often I thought of this thread! Regardless the target is set for beginning of October - not sure if I'll get the chance to weigh tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm looking for advice though. I ran for a few days on holiday, just interval stuff, run a minute walk a minute so I was running 10 mins in total. I had to stop because I was wakening up with pain in my hips. I think it's maybe muscle tightness rather than anything else though in the past I've had xrays say my hips are a bit more crumbly than they should be at my age - nothing drastic. It's a nuisance because running is so plain handy I have now decided! Maybe this is just normal starting somrthing new? What do you think? Yikes! I'm scared of the weigh in! I maybe didn't mention the brie....

Just reporting in. No snacks were had at all today. Just my 3 meals. :D

Great work Lou. Hope you feel better for it too!

The first thing with running to rule out is dehydration. Make sure you drink plenty of water before and after- it could always be a prolonged stitch! If that doesn't improve things start looking for other reasons.

I need some tough loving please... I am getting no where fast...

Hi there Baby Cakes and welcome to the Tough Love Thread.

Before we can help you- and I'm sure we'll happily do that- we're going to need a bit more info.

Firstly, I see you are calorie counting. How many calories are you eating a day? Are you sticking to your limit? How many lbs are you aiming to lose a week?

Secondly, what exercise if any are you doing and if so how often?

Thirdly, where do you think you are going wrong? Generally, unless you are getting very close to goal there is no reason to STS or gain if you are sticking to your plan. If you are not sticking to your plan then you won't get anywhere fast. You tell us what you're doing wrong (and I figure that you probably are!) and we'll tell you what to do to improve it. We specialise in kicks up the bum.

All we expect in return is honesty. If you make a mistake, we'll give you grief about it and keep you on the straight and narrow. If you're successful you won't find a more enthusiastic group of personal cheerleaders. We give as good as we get here. You screw up, we'll tell you. You succeed, we'll pat you on the back and tell you to carry on.

As Rod says you can have results or you can have excuses. You can't have both.

Now, give us a bit more information so we can set on the Tough Love path!

Yep, on it. I can't let you all down can I? I have 2 and a half weeks to the wedding, I'd love to
Lose that 5 pound by then but I'm not sure it's possible, with there being less of me I need less cals, and I'd need to be having less than 1200 a day every day to do it. I want to do it but I'm not up for starving myself tbh. Do you think that's a bit of a tall order?

Ha! I thought you meant 2 weeks to the dress. Even when you are steely willed, that is a tall order! But yes, 5lbs infinitely possible. 2lbs a week is the average weight loss isn't it, on something like slimming world? So that plus say 4 vigerous exercise sessions a week and plenty of water...I recon you could nail it. And if you try, and only loose 3 or 4, that is still a good result. Do it Lou!

Well done, that's the way to go. Did you see 'The Men Who Made Us Fat'? One episode was all about snacking - basically a 1950's invention by cynical american confectionary manufacturers to make people think they wanted food between meals so that they had a market for confectionary, to allow them to take advantage of the cheap corn syrup which had just been developed.

My gran always says it was unheard of to eat between meals when she was younger, and she never forgot the first time she came accross a burger... "meat? In bread? Meat goes with potatoes and vegetables!"

Hey guys. New to this thread but I've just spent a few hours reading back through some of the posts. This is definitely the place for me.

I'm almost at my goal for Aug 1st but during August I'd like to lose another 4lbs. However, I've been really struggling with motivation recently and need someone to just tell me NO when all I want is chips.

I'm also happy to give tough love in return.

Now, give me 30 push ups!

All in ship shape here soldier - training like Im going to the olympics, run in the morning swim at lunch weights in the evening combined with clean low carb high protein eating. Quite enjoying it too, even on holidays didn't miss out much except the weights cause they wouldn't let them on the plane :)
Hope you enjoyed Ireland.
Theres been a bit of molly coddling but not toooo bad - all ass should be firmly kicked into gear all the same.

Welcome back Rod. Wow, Steve - he's got a big one there! :D

Sorry, is this the chit chat thread?

Welcome back Rod. Wow, Steve - he's got a big one there! :D

I shared a room with him and you are entirely wrong....

I have read back up to where I left and Bonnie is getting tough huh? liking that

Little wobbles from Lou, but she'll be ok in the long stretch.....

Well done Smiley, 3.1kg is a solid performance squire

Jezzi's gone....she can choose to go, thats cool

Sue - you daft thing....

there seems to have been a lot of long and passionate posts lately and you have all helped each other which is what it's all about. Sorry if I havent mentioned you yet, but tough!

I am a lot thinnner than I was before I left (EVERYONE SAID IT!) but I weigh the same, so as a man, I have no idea how that works, for me how I look is very secondary to how I feel and what I weigh

here's me on friday on the copper coast

I will post some pictures another time that will make your hair stand on end....

Promise no pictures of your mate's little tiddlers!

Welcome back Rod, nice pics and glad you had a good time. Yep I have had to get tough but now you are back I can go and sob in a quivering heap in the corner!

Just pledging a swim later as I am feeling like chickening out - hot, tired, tummy ache, it's a beautiful evening.... but it is WI tomorrow, so got to get on it!
