Vic Vodkas dieting rollercoaster - back to it!!!!

hey hun!!

hope u just enjoy the BBQ!! i love bbqs and they are sooo dukan friendly!! Dont know a thing about vodka so cant comment there!!

Thanks Sona - ive been as bad as you havent i???

I'll have to say it because our dear guru, Pierre Dukan, does NOT allow alcohol on this diet... We do not count carbs on the Dukan diet. As he says on the chat on the official ENGLISH website: "alcohol is not allowed on this diet. It contains a lot of calories and will not help you lose weight."

There... I said it!

Atkins counts carbs... not Dukan... it's individual choice of course...

Has Sona been bad???

vodka - 33 cals (less than a yoghurt!!!!) and helps with the number 2s lol.

im not saying anything about Sona ;)

I found Sona (in our chat room aka her diary!!)...

He doesn't count calories either! <pokey outie tongue emoticon!>

no it doesnt :p

"doesn't help you lose weight"? nah I know!!

I think part of the problem is that we're never talking one drink (and I'm generalising here, not specifically talking to YOU Vicky!)... and when we drink, we get hungry and our willpower can (and often DOES) waver on the old food stuffs too...

So perhaps that's more the issue... and, of course, "after" the diet... phase 3 does allow ONE GLASS twice a week... ho hum!! and Phase 3 is where every calorie DOES count!

Lol you are soo right that Jo.

Is phase 3 hard? I know in the book it says adding bread (2 slices etc) and fruit and cheese (in 40g portions) and is it 3 tbsp oatbran per day? I recall it saying if for example you have 3 months of stabilization you should only have half of the toast/fruit/cheese for first 1/2 of stablization i.e. 1 1/2 months?

I'm just the same because although "I don't drink", I obviously do sporadically... (just that I couldn't hold my own in "Booze Britain" any longer!!!).

Phase three, CONSOLIDATION, is hard for me as the gates are opened... just ajar, but that's far enough for me to often push them wide open. In the book(s), he says "two slices" but on his website he says to buy wholemeal from the baker, and not supermarket stuff as they add sugar (I was surprised to see he was right!!). And that two slices = about 40g. We're talking two TEENY slices here per day*... about the size of a baby's palm x 2...
and 1 x fruit per day* (certain not allowed)
and 1 x 40g cheese per day* (certain not allowed)
* six days a week...

In the first half of your CONSOLIDATION, you may also have one portion of pasta/rice/lentils (200g cooked weight).
In the first half of your CONSOLIDATION, you may also have one treat meal (1 glass of alcohol, starter, main and pudding of your choice... one rule: NOT TO REFILL PLATE, so good to go to restaurant for your first few, until you can trust yourself, cos they won't refill!!).

In the second half of your Consolidation phase, you can have two portions of pasta/rice/lentils per week and two x treat meals...

Note the above is the CONSOLIDATION phase... the oatbran quantities remain the same.

Stabilisation Phase is phase 4... when the flood gates are pushed WIDE OPEN... that's when the oatbran goes to 3 tablespoons...

In phase 4, I usually find a time to sit alone in front of the TV with a bagful of naughties next to me and EAT... (hey I had my oatbran and didn't take the lift... doesn't that suffice? if not, why didn't you give us more help re phase 4 then?!!!)

it sounds really complicated now even more so when i was reading in the book

No problems... I've got a plan all worked out...

Or something similar...

The above is a good thing to do when on holiday too if you know you won't stick to Cruise... at least there are boundaries...

Jo thats fab - thanks.
What cheeses and fruits cant you have or is it easier to list what you can?
Unfortunately i cannot afford to go to baker and buy bread so will be buying from supermarket - but will buy the ww/nimble stuff which is very light.

NOOOO... definitely NOT the WW or nimble stuff... the idea isn't to count calories here, but introduce your body to proper food again... if you "diet" in phase 3, you'll fail in phase 4... You MUST reintroduce these things.

He says "wholemeal" bread for England. Buy the baker's version in the supermarket if you can (or check the Hovis label for least sugar added). White bread is OUT! (Just imagine how that goes down over here with their fetish for baguette!!).

This is why diets like Atkins and Dukan are prone to see their followers regain weight IF they don't follow the subsequent phases properly. Critics will always say that people regain the weight plus more besides, and they're not far wrong. We will IF we content ourselves with phases 1 and 2, ad nauseum - regaining, and starting again...

Phase 3 is tough because you can GAIN weight... just imagine! He's got us HOOKED on weighing ourselves daily (which we stop in Phase 3... best only to count on the weigh in the morning after your PP)... and then all you see is BAD results. People like me will then start to try to overcompensate. No pasta this week... or two PPs... and where do we end up? In a mega binge, +3K and here we go again on Attack.

That's the merry go round we're on IF we don't do it properly.

The person I'm helping right now on a French site has regained 3K. 1-2K are ok. The third, she knows why... and now she has to continue reintroducing EVERYTHING, despite her gain... and not panic and start dieting again... and gradually her body will get used to it.

In the French book, he didn't put my emphasis on exercise, which he has since amended on his website and the English book... so I'm trying to get her to compensate more that way... rather than the food way... the food way gets us into even more yoyoing...

The exercise way becomes a way of life... something I never thought I'd say... but it really does...

And, trust me - I've seen the weight go on others at the beginning of their Conso... he talks about our body having a long memory, and wanting to go back to where it was, hanging onto every calorie for dear life... and then, after a certain time, it gets used to what we're doing and starts dealing with food more normally...

so for us to get rid of the binge / diet mentality...

(that's the theory... I'm good at theory!)

Another great post Jo... can't rep you for it tho.. need to spread it about a bit. xx

I like nimble though :( and really not keen on white bread at all anyway. and we can get wholemeal baguettes here ;)
its going to be hard i think i have 135 days on conso (or would you count the weight i lost from atkins?) to get my head round it. !!!!!

im researching on the tesco site now on bread.
