My sister in law is having one done soon. it is done under hypnosis. costs around £600, but her friend is a hypnotherapist and is learning it, so Emma will be her guinea pig.
    Has anyone heard of this.

I have actually and it is intriguing. Perhaps more research into its effectiveness(through clinical trials) should be done as it would be suitable for some patients, whom are perhaps going to go through risky weight loss surgery. I dont know an awful lot about it aside from the basic ins and outs. Also good luck to your sister in law i hope it works for her :D

I am wondering though, if you dont learn to eat sensibly then when they take the virtual band off, will you go back to bad eating?

I think it can only be left on for about 8 weeks. i am only saying this as my sister in law says that she has to have it removed after 8 weeks.

My sister in law had this done. She said the lady scratched her hand whilst she was hypnotised so that it felt like a needle going into your hand and she said it felt like she was really having an operation. The first week she has lost 5lbs but she really isnt eating much.
I dont know if i like the idea as you arent learning to eat healthily are you.
    what do you think?

My mum was talking to me about this the other day cos she wants to have one done. Would love to hear how your sister in law gets on so I can report back to her. I'm quite skeptical to tell you the truth, but I've always been a believer in if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

I am unsure about this. Obviously much less risky than the op but I prefer to learn to eat healthy, stop when full etc.

The self hynosis one I am working on does that. It says you no longer feel the need or desire to eat greasy, oily , fatty foods, sweet, sickly,. foods. stop eating when feel full etc.

I've been listening to it for 4 days now and do feel its working for me. I seem to 'notice' when I am full rather than plough through the plate, I've not craved chocolate (which anyone that knows me will tell you is a big thing) and I've not craved crisps.... I plan to listen to it every day for 30 days as it says and then you only listen if you feel the need.

I am still following SW totally but just found its helped me to get in the right frame of mind

spoke to sister in law and she is really pleased with the results. i tried to speak to her about healthy eating with it as she is finding that she eats several times a day but really small portions. but then my brother in law the pig head, butted in saying that she can eat what she likes as she has this band, so i gave up. all i was trying to say was that she should try and eat slow burning food to give her energy throughout the day. he is such an a**e.

oh and i found out that she has the band for life. once she reaches her target then it is loosened.

Sounds great! As long as it's healthy food she's eating through the day she should be ok! Strange how they'll loosen the band once she hits target as she'll be able to eat more and the weight could slowly creep back on :/ hope it works for her tho! :)

Exactly my point. If she doesnt learn how to eat healthly now then she will be back to stage one when it is loosened.
It could save people thousands of pounds if it works. maybe the NHS will invest in it. it would save them millions in operations.

People will only loose weight with a gastric band IF THEY WANT TO LOOSE WEIGHT! It can be cheated by blitzing food or having it swimming in gravy/sauces etc, don't know how it works with hypnosis, if you eat the wrong food does it know to tell you that your food isn't dry and its got stuck  if it works brilliant i'm just curious as to all the ins and outs :)

i will find out from her and let you know. I know that she is able to eat normally, just smaller portions and then she feels full. she definitely doesnt have to blend food.
