What's everyone reading at the moment?

I've just got back from a holiday in Brighton and I had downloaded a Peter James detective book called Dead Mans Grip on my kindle which is set in Brighton!! Just finished it last night - I was hooked... Got to read the next in the series now!!!

Don't you just love it when a book is set somewhere you have been or know? I love the Brenda and Effie series by Paul Maygrs because its set in Whitby...xx

I haven't watched the film yet i have it recorded...I was told it is good but the book is better because there is more detail in it!

I watched the film (a while ago) and then read 'The girl who kicked the hornets nest'. Again the book took a while to get into but then couldn't put it down.

It's on my 'to read' list. I know it's quite a popular book. Are her other 2 books the return and the thread sequels or are they different? I've just started Moloka'i and so far I'm enjoying it:)

I've read The Return but not The Thread, although it is on the ol' Kindle! No they're completely different stories! The Return is about the Spanish Civil War and The Thread is about a huge fire that happened in the second capital city of Greece. All historical fiction basically, right up my street! You're not going to believe this Mogs but I'm STILL on Game of Thrones! It's mainly because life has been so hectic lately and I just haven't had much time to invest in reading, but I must admit I'm still struggling and finding it slow! I think it's brilliantly written and I do enjoy it when I pick it up, but I'm disappointed in myself that I'm not finding it a real page turner! I won't give up on it though! X

It took me a month to read game of thrones and I think about 6 weeks to read the second one! I've not started the third yet cos I want to get my post grad out of the way before starting another big book. It is good, I must admit some parts are more difficult to get through than others. I felt the same about the lord of the rings, brilliant book but some parts were really tough just to get through.

OMG saw the movie last xmas and didnt enjoy the sadistic side...the book might have been better as the visuals were gross.

Just laughing at something Michael McIntyre said- that when we love a book we refer to it as a 'page turner'.....but that a page turner would be the absolute MINIMUM he would expect from a book...otherwise it would resemble more of a block than a book lol! X

Just finished Candlenight by Phil Rickman awesome book... A must read for the long winter nights ahead... Then I thought something lighter, Laurell.K.Hamilton... Micah... Started it... Gave up because it is just a sexathon between Anita Blake and Micah... Sorry not a prude, but I do want some story along with the porn... Save your money folks, this one like the rest of the series since book six is rubbish...

Well the details in the book are a bit disturbing and not nice to read but other than that it's a good one!! :)

I've just been on hols & I left Cross Stitch at home as I was too far in to make it last the whole hols, so I took Room with me (a recommendation from this thread) & if I'd been at home I wouldn't have finished it, I found it a bit boring at the beginning but about a quarter way through it does get more interesting & I'm glad I finished it but found it a very strange read.

Now back from hols & can pick up Cross Stitch again & hopefully when I get to work tomorrow the next four in the series will be waiting for me:D

I'm reading Pop Goes the Weasel by James Patterson. I know, I know, so highbrow...! :sigh: but my brain is too frazzled to read anything that doesn't break down into 3 minute chunks!

Just finished Moloka'i by Alan Brennert which I loved. 5 stars! This book is well written, and I definitely cared about the characters. It was inspiring and heartbreaking, fascinating and beautifully descriptive. There was a lot of Hawaiian culture in it, which added to the interest for me. Would definitely recommend this one.

I'm now starting Matched by Ally Condie.

Badlands by Richard Montanari... I love his books, gritty, sometimes a little too graphic cop series... Good well rounded characters that you find it hard not to sympathize with if not identify with...

Lol brilliant he makes me laugh

I've started reading The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling. I'm a huge, huge (get it, 'cause I'm overweight?) Fan of Harry Potter, but more than the stories, I very much enjoy JK's writing style, and she has applied well to her new grown up book. I'm not far in yet, but it's funny and thoughtfully written thus far.
