What's size 18/16/14 etc in inches?

I'm afraid that there is no absolute answer to this one. Different shops vary in terms of what constitutes the various sizes. As many people have discovered what fits in one shop may not fit at all in another.

It's even worse than that - within the same shop, different ranges of clothing may have different waist/hip/bust sizes. M&S for example. Their Per Una stuff is definitely differently sized.
