As it has already been said in this thread, as with any plan, how much/little it works is based on the person following the plan.
When I was following WW the people I know who are following SW would constantly tell me that because I was on WW, I would always be eating poorly. I sat yesterday watching her eat supernoodles for a late breakfast and 3 mugshots for lunch 'because they're free' on SW. Doesn't mean that's a particularly good way of eating!
When I was on WW I had 18 points a day. Given the choice between a choc bar or plate of pasta, yes I'd have loved the choccie but the pasta kept me fuller for longer. It's all about using common sense, which does tend to fly out the window when trying to lose weight.
All weight loss plans have the same basic set of quite simple rules-plan as much as you think yopu need to, then plan some more! Use your allowances, points syns, healthy extras whatever, as wisely as possible.
