120lbs to shed with Alizonne tightening

AliG 90lbs. WOW that is freaking amazing. I am in awe!!! You must be over joyed. Just keep that momentum going and you'll be strutting your stuff in tiny clothes soon :)

As for myself I'm struggling at the moment :-(. I'm trying to find the right balance between living life, eating well and exercise. I didn't reach my target on my VLCD because I became unwell and had to resume proper eating. Since then the last 10lbs I wanted to lose have alluded me. And recently I have started to go in the opposite direction so I now have 10 more lbs that I want to lose. Thankfully most of my smaller clothes still fit me (14's) but my 12's are decidedly snug.

You are on a fast moving train so don't you dare get off until you reach your destination.

Best Wishes. Mel

Time for back to basics. It's week 24 and I have had several things happen.

I have been eating too much aubergine and not enough veg variation and think I may have the early signs of allergic reaction and with water retention. So no aubergine for a while. Strange to have water retention again.

I've also slipped in attention to details - and somehow had a mindless chewing gum fiesta and didn't keep yogurt to an occasional spoonful. I ate the pot in a week - and have decided no yogurt in the house for a bit. I have also made the wrong decision on some ham - I wasn't hungry and yet had some stupid thinking. The LighterLifers call it 'crooked thinking'. I made DH a salad and bizarrely I wanted to feel and chew and just did it. A two slice ham binge. Standing up in the kitchen. It probably had sugar in the brine. Who knew you could binge on ham? A lesson for when I'm at target. Anything - savoury as well as sweet - needs to be on the list and accounted for.

Some strange thought process of having done so well that a little bit won't matter and I'll stay in weight loss mode. It did matter and it does matter. I didn't really enjoy it. With the cumulative impact of all of this plus too much sweetner in the rhubarb and not religiously measuring the oil, my net loss this week was 0.6lb to 14st 12.8lb.

So - practice what I preach - shake myself down and recommit and re-choose to do Alizonne to the letter each day and each meal. I tried on the size 14s last night - way off being able to pull them up, let alone do them up. My size 16 linen trews are loose and need the belt tie. My size 16 jeans are a little looser at the waist and pull up very far - but still don't need a belt. I've mislaid my tape measure - but I know my waist has whittled a little this week. So possibly 20lbs off to size 14 and then another 20lbs off to size 12. That could be 16 weeks to target depending on how Phase 2 losses go and how fast my weight losses pick up.

I have declined the village Jubilee tea party - as it's a sit down do at the village hall. It's the first do I've turned down since doing Alizonne - but I feel it would be just plain wierd having a shake por Alizonne buns eating with neighbours I don't know well. People have noticed I'm loosing weight but how is my business. Oh ...and as I'm married to a republican, I'd be by myself!

So I have re-girded my loins and found my mojo. I feel great and am loving feeling svelte. With my attention on back to basics, I will roll on downwards and inwards.

Sometimes we need these little blips to concentrate the mind, and the lessons we take from them are all useful for the future. It's all a journey for those of us who have been obese for most of our adult life. I'm a little peeved with myself for not being able to go back onto 4 naked packs and get this final stone off. Instead I've been faffing around with approx 800 calories and I first hit the 11s on 4th April. It's now 8 weeks later and I'm at 11st 11.6lbs (having got down to 8.8 before my off plan last weekend). If I'd been on 4 packs I'd probably have been at goal by now. But I know I can't do 4 packs on their own again so I guess I just have to grin and bear it. All power to you if you can keep 100% on track. I was fine until say February so about 6 months in but that was my limit it seems. I think the other thing is that with a stone to go I know my shape / clothes sizes aren't going to change remarkably so the incentive to lose quickly just isn't there.

Thank you lovely BG. I do appreciate your support. Did I tell you I am half Scots? My mother who has lived 66 years in England is most peeved she won't have a vote on independence. She and her brothers all trained in London hospitals before and during WW2 and the 2nd cousins are all in England too so we don't have gatherings in Scotland. We are very clannish. But then my AngloWelsh family are also clannnish. I know my 4 & 5th cousins in the Welsh Marches!

I love the fact you've used the word 'peeved'. My Flemish DMIL was using it with relish yesterday about getting old. And I also love the reference to naked packs. We only have 3 naked packs a day in Alizonne - the other two are clad in salad at lunchtime and veggies (some unlimited, some on a list of 200g total) at dinner time. The sachets are mostly 100-110 calories and 20g protein.

It's interesting that I am at the 6 month mark, too. I was motoring through the first 5 months. There was a slight mouthful of chicken breast just at the 5 month mark - and then the planned Phase 2 meals at the wedding - adding in 140g fish instead of a sachet at the evening meals. I am very close to Phase 2 - and have been told I can go onto it when I want. I will be there in the next few days. It's become a matter of pride.

I actually think it's better to phase off and integrate ordinary food into our last period of shedding. I suspect it will be more sustainable as we will still be focussed on the target (albeit slower results). It is essential we don't yoyo and sustain the losses.

Btw, have you thought of seeing if there's a clinic or spa offering one of those ultrasound skin tightening treatments? Dee found one. They really do help with body contouring. I was really sceptical - but the ultrasound really does empty stubborn fat cells. I have a great shape as my tummy and hip fat has really shifted.

14st 11.4lbs today.

I can't do maths ... I just posted 'Exactly 6 1/2 stones shed. How cool is that?' and then realised that would be 6st 7lbs, not 6st 8lbs! 92lbs....so just 8lbs till that Century badge.

The count down = 39.9lbs to go ..... what seemed insurmountable is do-able.

And I'm all English :). I just moved up here from Kent about 3 years ago for work. I commuted up here for 3 years before that but that was all contributing to my unhealthy lifestyle. Airport lounges, work, stay in hotels, eat, drink, sleep, and then crash when I got home on a Friday night ready to do it all again at 4am on a Monday morning. Life is a tad more relaxing now and I get to live by the sea so all good :). And I get to vote for independence (and leave when Hadrian's wall goes up and they banish the English ;))!

Well done on the 6.5 stone! I've been hovering slightly below 6 for ages. I know that naked packs would fix this for me but to be honest the packs won't particularly help me in maintenance so I just need to get on with life and understand what I can and can't have. I had a low carb(ish) day yesterday and ended up on 1400 calories which is around my BMR so in theory it should be fine. I didn't have anything too unhealthy but I had cashews and a salmon fillet (not together :)) that bumped the calories up a fair bit. The veggies on S&S are optional so naked packs are what I started out having and I lost the majority of my weight when I was following that regime. 'Stepping up' has caused my weight loss to slow considerably but given that I'm much lighter than I was before I should be happy with that. I am happy with that really but would also like to be at goal (and more than that eating sensibly and maintaining my goal weight!).

Hi Ali. I have never heard of Alizonne but I am glad it is working for you. You have achieved an amazing weight loss. I am at the start and only 8lb down. I hope I can keep the motivation as long as you have and follow this through to the end. It is so inspiring to see people like you getting there.

I'm 3.2lbs down to 14st9.6lb and the size 16s need a belt. I'm wearing the £4 Matalan brown belt with lovely buckle with turquoise 'stones' and feel good. I have lost over 15 BMI points from 48.3 to 33.2. My Alizonne goal is 27. So that's 6st 9.8lb shed and 2st10.1lb to go.

So now I'm onto to Phase 2 - so supper veggies are joined by 120g of lean meats or chicken or veal liver or 140g of white fish, squid, scallops, lobster, crab or shrimp - but not prawns - too high cholesterol whilst still shedding weight. DH will take me up the coast at the weekend to buy some fresh crab. Yea!

Ali

Adding in the protein meal is working well for me : 6st 12lbs lost and weighing in at 14 1/2 stone and just over 2 1/2 stones to go.

You've done fantastic hun :) not much more to go now. How do they go about working out goal on your plan?? Or is that down to you

I'm thinkin of.lowering mine by a stone. Bit unsure currently

Keep up the ace work Xx

Thanks, Rebekah. In answer to your question, the targets are worked out with the specialist Alizonne GP. it takes into account BMR when you start, past dieting history and weight history and the Alizonner's own wishes. Quite a few of us who have been overweight for years and are older do not have a target BMI below 25. I guess that is for two reasons - one - we are more likely to maintain and that the skin will not retract enough. I do not want a body lift.

I've been a bit unsettled. I fell and hurt my back and knee and so have not walked as much as usual. My gut has slowed down - having worked wonderfully through the past 6 months. Odd as I'm still eating the same amount of salad and vegetables. I have also discovered I can't keep yogurt in the house. On Alizonne, we can have a tablespoon of zero yogurt occassionally - and I deviated from that. I have not handled the the strong cravings for more chicken this weekend. Net effect - is the scales are up 2.4lbs on my low of 6 days ago. So shaking myself down and refocussing, and back on track.

It is so important to learn to do this and manage portion sizes. My body is satisfied so I know this is a mind thing. So off to research a good hypnotherapist to support me as I've done counselling on and off over the years and know that won't help me enough. So it';s been a reflcetive and introspective weekend for me.

So a new week and back to phase 2 basics with a renewed positivity.

Amazing - I am 7 stone down in 6 months and one week.

I didn't know when I started that I could actually do this.

I met 2 lovely people who had been successful on Alizonne, and decided it was something I could try. As a serial failed dieter, I wasn't hopeful.

My DH was very concerned about my health as I was slowing up and getting increasingly fatter. He had gently told me he wanted to grow old with me, and was worried. I was uncomfortable in the mornings - aching hips and ankles. I also had swelling legs and my lymphatic system wasn't working well. I was worried that if I didn't reverse the situation, I'd be unable to walk in a few years time and would die early.

He's a scientist and I knew he would not want me to have bariatric surgery due to the risks and also the mixed results. I wasn't sure he'd be supportive as I'd discussed Lighter Life with him, and he wasn't keen. The key to him supporting me on Alizonne was the GP supervision with good monitoring including blood tests, blood pressure and the Medgem for my resting metabolic rate. He's a scientist and was reassured that on Alizonne, the risks of doing a vlcd such as heart arrythmia and other rare cardiac problems, gall stones, low potassium and more would be managed.

For me, the advantages also included:

- the frequency of sachets - they are usually 100-115 calories with over 18g of protein - so we have them 5 times a day
- the variety of flavours and types - some make savoury meals and sweet buns and biscuits as well as usual soups, cereal, soups and drinks
- the inclusion of salads and veggies - so I have continued to eat with friends and family. It somehow feels healthier
- the transition into real food with the reintroduction of a varied permitted list of shellfish, fish, meat and poultry for the final 30% of weight loss
- body treatments:
- melting fat through ultrasound means my belly has reduced amazingly. The ultrasound has now moved to my hips and will later move to my thighs - so where the circluation doesn't work well through the fat deposits.
- endermologie - a collagen and lymph stimulating prickly hoovering, which helps the skin retract.

So I lost nearly a third of my starting weight. My skin has done really well. With the last stone, my skin has started to be more loose especially on my upper arms and upper thighs. This is the consequence of my life and food decsions over the past 30 something years. So it's something I will live with.

My size 16 ASDA jeans are loose - but I can't pull up the size 14s = so they will probably fit in July. I am wearing 12-14 primark tops and a size 14 M&S long line cardigan. Size 14 jackets and button up tops are a bit tight if the button up - as my torso is lean but I still have a big bra cup size - now down to 34FF.

I realise that I will probably still be hunting clothes that fit. Instead of looking for plus sizes and the 16-28 rails, I'll be hunting styles that are both flattering colours (warm spring)and fit properly on the shoulders, hips and waist and my chest.

I am managing on a capsule wardrobe now. In fact I have more good clothes waiting for ebay listing than currently fit me. I've also sent carloads to Sue Ryder. Now I have some primark strappy tops in great colours (because their v neck t shirts with sleeves have tiny cap sleeves), a white linen shirt (ASDA again) an open long line cardigan from M&S, a Edina Ronay mac from TK Maxx (it ties nicely at the waist but the top button doesn't do up without straining yet), one pair of jeans and one pair of linen trews (both too big but the size 14s don't fit yet), some slightly baggy t shirts for chores at home, a belt with a great buckle from Matalan (and one on it's last notch from ASDA), a maxi dress from M&Co and a couple of charity shop items. Amazingly, my knickers still fit - stretchy seamless ones from Lane Bryant. They weren't tight 100lbs ago and yet still fit now. I also have some size 16s from ASDA. My chest has shrunk but still provides a good cleavage - I've been measured in John Lewis for the second time and am down again to 34FF. I bought a T shirt bra from John Lewis and some 34Fs from ASDA - slightly full in the cups at the moment, which are good now and will be perfect in a week or so. I do need something smarter - but haven't found something suitable at the right cost so have been a bit casual in my linen shirt and trews, or primark tops with cardy and trews or jeans at some meetings recently. I also have a tight size 14 swimsuit and exercise trousers and top (nice quality from TK Maxx) and some new trainers.

I am excited that I will get my century this week - but the clothing and regaining my cheekbones and waist is more satisfying than the actual number of lbs. I love having jeans with pockets and a belt. It's also so good moving with ease and walking more freely and not having pain in the morning. And DH says I don't snore anymore. I love being svelte!

Hi Ali,

I just want to say congratulations!

I have a similar amount to lose but I am using Exante. It wonderful to see your journey and how far you've come in 6 months.

It really gives me hope :D

Ali

This is a wonderful post Ali! Thanks for summarising things for us and so excited for you on getting to 7 stone and being within a whisker of your 100lbs!

OMG OMG OMG - so I thought the lbs didn't matter and I was more motivated by clothing. But it feeels REALLY GOOD to go and tick that century club badge. This morning's .0.4lb loss brings me to 100lbs lost on Alizonne. I had already lost a stone or so before I started - but had decided to use the century club as my marker for Alizonne.

Thank you, sore-loser and Weasey and All who have posted over the past 6 months on this blog or thread or whatever! It's been really helpful to share the journey here and on the Alizonne private forum. It's amazing to think I was lugging around another 1/2 of my current weight.

I know this is just the start so maintaining when I'm another 30 or so lbs down ill be the next learning curve. I'll see the GP on Tuesday so will decide then what my actual goal weight will be.

That is absolutely BRILLIANT!!!! :D :D :D

You must be so pleased. Enjoy this moment you so deserve it.

Please please post some before and after photo's when you feel ready. You are so inspirational. Congratulations xx

You have done amazing hunny :) I dream of a ff cup!!! Well done hun, you must feel amazing xxx
