Am i wasting my time???

hated it, it just made me food obsessed, i did it when i was 16 but in reality wasnt over weight enough to do it but was training at the time to get on to a track team (cycling) and nearly passed out a few times. doing it again brought it all back and tbh i think alot of my weight issues escalated after doing it. this is why i need to teach my self how to eat! plus i have a 7 yr old daughter (plus 2 boys and another younger girl) who is very image and weigh concious and i dont want her to be obsessed and give herself problems as her diet is great (way better than my old one! ) funny how we look after our kids health but not our own!

my friend did lighter life and hasnt kept it off either so i dont rate that tyoe of diet really.. only if your obsessively focused! me, i need a life too!

yeah its just the same as slim fast, i have used the odd shake as a meal replacement while doing cc, the tesco ones are 135 cals each so have for example used one for breckie today then ate normal meals for lunch and dinner.. just dont use them with out food as there not meant for that type of thing just to replace a max of 2 meals a day then have a 600 cal meal and 3 x 100 cal snacks its just under 1100 cals aday diet

I think hers are 225cal each serving so that would mean if she has two she has to have about about 450 cal meal at night?
I might also try this now and again.. I get very bored of the same food as im a fussy eater so im limited to healthy foods! aslong as i know its ok 2 have!

My friend seems to like them! I'm going to go her house tomorrow so i'll have a try and i'll let you know! We always get them for her when we go to town, i'm sure there only a fiver and you get something like 12 servings which isnt too bad! And yeah they keep her full ( well i pressume so anyway she has never said they dont! )
Shame i dont like tic-tacs!
I find it strange that kit-kats and asdas caramel desserts are less cals than weight watchers desserts ! hmmmm..

Hey everyone - I'm 22 and have been doing calorie counting since January, I really think it's a great way to lose weight because of the freedom it gives you about what you eat!

You learn really quickly that if you eat the right things your not hungry, but if you want that occasional high cal food, it's OK to have as long as it's within the daily calories :)
I'm having 1000 a day, but if I'm actually hungry or have exercised then I'll go up to about 1200. I'm not that strict about it and I think my body likes the variance.

I did a short stint on cambridge last year, and loved it (I'm food + cooking obsessed anyway) except that I hated not being able to go out and have the odd drink when socialising!

Hey sugar friend! How much have you lost since jan? and well done 4 sticking 2 it!
I'm always looking at around 1000 a day which did me fine yesterday,
but ive been the gym 2day and i feel alot hungrier so may bump it up a little like u do on gym days! x x

Hey Stef, I've lost 30lbs since jan :D

I find it easier if I kind of graze, so say 100-200 cal mini snacks or a 300 cal meal at most rather than having meals at set times.
I think there's no point sitting there genuinely hungry, sounds almost silly if you are hungry have something little to eat :) Stops me from binging later!

I can only stick to it because I'm still eating everything I want to, just keeping track of how much and limiting the naughtier stuff a bit.

How have you been getting on - are you going with having some shakes instead of food?

You are most definitely not wasting your time! You can do anything if you put your mind to it. Anything is possible! I had 8 stone 3 to lose when I started on 1st Jan. That seemed an absolutely mammoth task but when I realised that I was the heaviest I've ever been, I was so disgusted with myself that I realised I had no option but to go for it. I have currently lost 4 stone 1lb so am about at the halfway point now. I've done it simply with healthy eating and loads and loads of exercise.

I have neither the time nor inclination to start counting calories or weighing out my food. It doesn't take a genius to work out that a bowlful of strawberries is good for you whereas a huge bag of Minstrels isn't!!

Without a doubt exercise has been the key for me. I work out probably six days out of seven and when I say work out I work hard and I sweat! I've finally realised that in order to get the weight off and keep it off, I have to change my whole outlook and attitude to food and I've realised that how I live now, the food I eat and the exercise I do, is something I will have to do long term and not just until the flab has gone.
;)

Hey sugar, yeah thats true what your saying, yesterday we went to my partners nans who we dont see alot n she made this big meal for everyone and i only had a small portion but knew it was well over my calories i should have therefore i skipped tea but by 9pm i was starvin so had a yoghurt lol which i feel stupid for now i should have ate something for tea just something good!

Anyhows ive been having a shake for my dinner as im not really a dinner person im more breakfast and tea so that does me nicely :D

Hey lucky cat - do u mean you have lost over 4 stone since jan doing this and excersing??
I know now when i go gym i need push myself really hard cos its not enough what im doing at the moment!
I also know that to keep the weight off i will always have to watch what i eat and excerice, which is fine :-D

I actually am loving this healthy eating cos when i see my partner eating all the stuff i'd love to i just think haha its u whos eating that crap not me!!
We had a picnic with our son on saturday and went to tesco for some butties cos i didnt have time 2 make our own and i got 'just ham' which was 230 cals, my partner got a full breakfast butty which wus like 650 cals!! I was happy with my 'just ham'!

Amen! I can so identify with this. It's taken me a long time to realise it but now that I have accepted that diet and regular exercise are now permanent features of my life, I feel in control of myself for the first time in my adult life and it feels great :)

I'm always comparing the calories in what I eat with my boyfriend/friends when we eat together! My mum was horrified last week in wetherspoons when I told her how many calories were in her traditional breakfast compared to my chicken wrap!

I wish I could get into a good routine of exercise but things are so sporadic and hectic at the moment (last semester of my final year at uni) I just can't do it. I'm jealous of all of you that say you like it, I'm ok once I start but I never want to start!

Im exactly the same! I can never find the motivation to get started!!

Just take ur clothes off n get in the mirror, that gets me straight dwn the gym ha x

Noooo that sends me straight to put on piles of baggy clothes and hide in my flat! Usually in a miserable mood!

Plus I hate the gym, so go swimming. Looking at my jiggly bits just before I'm going to go swimming and bare them doesn't make me want to do that!

oooh noo haha oh it works 4 me, i cant get 2 the gym fast enough and refuse chocolate!!

Haha good idea! I like to exercise at home with weights and dvds etc. Im too skint for the gym! the joys of being a student! haha! :) xxx

I do like the dvd's, but only when the bf is out. And before I've had a shower that day (usually get one first thing). I hate having to get 2 showers a day, but I hate feeling sweaty more!

Edited to add - I think I'm just awkward :p

Yup, all done since 1st Jan and apart from power walking with my dogs, nearly all the exercise has been in my front room on the Wii Fit!

I sooo want a wii fit! But I need to buy a wii aswell! (funny that lol) both together comes to over 200 quid!! Is it worth it??! Some1 tell me! hehe! :) xxx
