Big Girls Blouses and other stuff

I know I sound like an advert for them lol But I really do like their stuff, specially if youre weight is still going down, they have some really cheap tshirts and things.

They were the only place I could get trousers though and I tried EVERYWHERE!

Yea. I know what you mean Starlight. I still buy the T shirts and vests but the trousers just never seem quite right somehow. I don't think they are quite as good as they used to be

Tesco and Asda.

I go into Evans when I am out shopping with my mum as she shops there but I am always amazed at how expensive they are. I am a cheap shopper, I never pay more for anything than I have to especially when I hope to be buying smaller ones soon!

Trouble is Taz, for those of us over the magic size 20 (18 or even 16 in some shops) there isn't that much choice. Does your mum choose to shop there or is it sheer desparation because of size :( Evans starts at 16 I think but if I was 16 or even 18 I would have SO much more choice  I would not choose Evans
shiek (? is that how you spell it) by choice

So true, it's not by choice. It makes me mad that people are cashing in on people being larger

argggggggggggggggggggggggg @ so called fat shops lol they all assume we got lots of money to spend on clothes

At least ye have more choice in the uk. ye have asda and that. all we have is new look and that can be pretty crappy at the best of times. Evans isnt that much better it depends one day there might be loads and the next nothing. Ive been in loads of shops in the uk and i always buy loads so much to choose from!!!

Sorry Becky, never been to Ireland so cannot comment on the clothes there. All I can say is that I see lots I like but either in shops I can't use (stops at 16/18) or on the rails of smaller clothes nearby (Outfit, New Look, Peacocks etc).
Another groan is UNDERWEAR. Even when some shops have the token few things in larger sizes try going over to the underwear section and see what you can find!

Evans is brilliant shop but so damn expensive,

Why on earth do us fattys have to pay over the odds for clothes etc

why cant it be one price for all :(

My goal size would be size 14. I would be SO happy with that

Hi Everyone
I have been looking at clothes today. I am still not into "normal" sizes yet but WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON? Is it a conspiracy? - the clothes around at the moment JUST MAKE ME LOOK BIGGER THAN I AM. New Look have the Inspire range but that seems to have shrunk to a couple of rails and some stores don't stock it at all! Evans has gone from Disney flower prints last summer to downright frumpy this year. I just wish I did'nt still have to rely on FAT STORES to buy new clothes. What do other people think?

I am now able to shop in ‘normal’ shops (if I wanted to) but when I needed more generously sized clothing I used to use catalogues all the time.

I now shop on line because I cannot bear those tiny changing rooms and the look of those size 8 girls as I pile in the changing rooms with my selection of clothes. You know the look “fat cow she’ll never get into those!!”

Most shops offer an online home delivery service for a small charge. Even bra companies like Bravissimo (for the fuller busted woman). At home you can try things on with other things…….find out which top will hide the old muffin top the best……does my bum look huge in this test etc.

Many offer payment plans so even on a tight budget you can maybe afford a couple of new items a month/couple of months. And provided you go easy with your spending you won’t get into serious debt. Some companies will cap your limit so you only owe what you could pay back in a few week if you to.

Trying on at home allows you to experiment with sizes too because the actual size of garment varies from manufacture to manufacture.

Plus its ace getting parcels – I often order loads try in, on prance about, bag it up and send it back. It’s like retail therapy without leaving the armchair or spending a penny!!

One of my favourite sites is SimplyBe

Good luck x

Have you ever tried shoppin online, you have naturally close.com to name just 1, and have you thought of ebay, there are so many shops on there that stock our sizes its un believeable....the only thing i would say is make sure they have a returns policy

i just read your post aislinn...:ashamed0005:

do agree though x

Yes thanks, I have had some success with online but it's so hard to check out fabrics, cut, etc - and then there's the leg length.........
Perhaps I'm expecting too much - after all we're the ones society loves to hate at the moment

Hey ladyees - get yourself over to our SW forum, we're swapping clothes on there at the minute - take a look, we've got the thread as a sticky xxx

Trying on clothes in a shop is hit and miss, so to be ordering on-line, get excited about deliveries only to find it's too tight, too loose, too clingy etc is just a huge disappointment so I don't by clothes on-line any more.

I think I'm with you Sam. Just that I'm finding clothes a bit depressing at the moment. Not depressed really - things going ok and I hope I'll soon be able to buy in the same places as my skinny friends - well maybe next summer anyway :)

I'll be happy if I can get in the summer clothes I was wearing last summer. We go away in three weeks time, so I'm really hoping something will fit by then.

It really makes me wish I had started dieting sooner!

my step daughter has size 7 feet and is a nitemare finding nice trendy shoes for her
I shop on a limited budget and im sick of not being able to get cheapish clothes just coz im slightly larger than the size 10 women who work in the shops looking down on you as you walk through the door as if there waiting on you getting stuck grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr i mean im only a size 18/20 and sometimes i think im a size 80 the way some of the shop assistants look at me

Size 7?! I wear a size 10 shoe!! Lol... try finding shoes in a size 10. When I need shoes I need to go on a weeklong search of websites.. ebay, barratts tall and small, brantanos, evans and a few specialist ones but the shoes are mega expensive. My cousin is a size seven and she never really has a problem. Most places, cheap and expensive, seem to go up to an 8. Evans used to do nice fashionable shoes and now most of them resemble shoes my nan would wear. Massive shame.

In terms of clothes, when i've been in Evans for my shoes, their range of clothes look quite nice. Although i can understand what you're all going on about. My least favourite experience is going into shops like Miss Selfridge or Jane Norman with my skinny friends and I can just see the sales assistants looking at me wondering why the hell im there. Yes thanks, i KNOW you wont have anything to fit me.

Oh and lastly, concerning bra fittings, i've never had to take my bra off lol, theyve always fitted me with mine on! unless i've got the wrong side of the stick with what all you lovely people had said, hehe.

xxx

me too, although last time the only one that fit was see through. i found it really odd how she managed to check the fit without acknowledging the fact that she could see my nipples through it, ha. and then she went to get me one that wasn't see through as she'd broguht me a range in that size... so i went hope very happy with my nipples firmly hidden :D good ol' bravissimo :D
