Lives here....
Welcome to the slimming world section of minimins. We are a lovely supportive bunch, most of whom have been here before or for a while, some at target, some close, some trying to find their way back (**raises hand**)

Firstly we would like to say congratulations on choosing A) Slimming World and B) minimins. Your journey just got a whole lot better. This place is amazing but as with many things in life you only get out what you put in. So to this end I have created a short list of things you may like to know. Along with some useful links.

I will endeavour to keep these updated so they are current but please feel free to comment if they are not and I'll get on it!

Start off by saying hi :). We are friendly and love a new member. Share your experience and we will get on board for the ride. A little "hello" thread is a great start and any questions we will try to help (tip: posting a food diary is ALWAYS a good idea!)

Have a good look around. There are, if you scroll up, lots of sub forums for things like syn questions and off topic chat. Use these and you will get a better response, in theory. It also helps to keep the main board clear. When searching for threads try to avoid resurrecting old threads if possible. The plan has moved on and so have some members so anything older than last year should really be disregarded and a new thread started.

Forum etiquette is standard. Try to avoid SHOUTING and please observe the minimins etiquette rules generally. If someone helps you out with advice then it's nice to just respond with a "like" or just a quick "thanks".

Here are some useful threads to get you started:

Hi my name is Tricia and have done S/W many times then fall by the wayside lol. But here we go again week 1 lost 4lbs week 2 lost 3lbs so far so good.
Just trying to work this site out and how I add my details and weight loss as this may help keep me on track.

Hi @darling nursie if you scroll to the top of the page, locate your username and click on it you can add all those details :)

Hello everyone. I've just posted in the introduction section but this is where I will be lurking. Will have a good read through later.

I'm just wondering what SW do now. When I was last there it was Red / Green or ..... erm ..... was it Extra Easy?????? Not sure. Is it the same now or has it changed?? I'm just thinking of starting to prepare the fridge and cupboards!!!! (with SW friendly food !!) I've put a new battery in my pedometer

It's still extra easy. No green or red any more but there is something called extra easy sp which is a lot like the old red. The link that @craftermary shared with you will hopefully help. There are lots of people around to help so if you get stuck just shout!

I know I need to update the challenges on here. It's my job for tomorrow :) :)

Hi all
I think I may have lurked here in the past. I originally had loads of success losing 3st taking me from 12.5 stone to 9.5 stone with Slimming World back in 1998/1999 which I kept off for many years. But ESPECIALLY since turning 40 things have gone way wrong! So I'm now 14 stone, 46years old and I've been struggling with weight for a long time. I know what to do but I just don't do it. I half-heartedly try things now and then but I've decided recently this is the time for me to return to SW. So I go to my first class tonight. I'm feeling positive about it. I'm veggie so last time I was at Slimming World it was all green days for me. I did attempt to go about 6 years ago so I have been exposed to the Extra Easy but at that time with my job etc it was hard for me to lose weight and stick to it (long story). But now seems like a good time. So I'll read the FAQ's and I'm sure I'll pop up here over the coming months.

Hi everyone, I'm starting my slimming world diet again after a couple of years off it. I was last on the extra easy plan and still have the book so gonna carry on with that. Not had a proper mooch around the site yet, just thought I'd say hello.

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the site and to SW. Can't afford it at the moment so trying to go it alone with a friends books. Any help or advice much appreciated!

Xx

Hi, I'm new here and looking for some motivational support.
I have been on (and off) the SW plan for many years now. My health is poor therefore I really need to get back to it. I am going to try a few days a week on EESP. I am also going to add some HIIT and resistance training.
Wish me luck
Debs

Hi everyone I'm new to minimins but not new to sw I us d to go to group a few years ago. I had my second child January last year and have been trying to lose the weight but haven't managed to stick to it! This time I'm determined to do it and in my first week have managed 6lb loss. I'm hoping you can all help keep me on track lol.

Hi I'm sarah.

I started slimming world on the 6th of Feb. My first week I lost 8lbs :D:eek: then the 2nd week came and nothing. This is my 3rd week now and seems I lost 2lbs. I am currently doing this from home and not going to groups which is why I decided to join minimins as I read a lot of helpful tips :D. I could really do with the support as I'm new to this. I'm sort of confused by the SP plan. Does this mean I do this everyday for better weight loss or is it like once a week or something lol. Sorry if this sounds like a silly question.

I'm the same Sarah, going it alone without group. The SP is up to you. I know people that don't do SP days at all. I'm trying to do one SP day a week.

Ahh okay it doesn't seem to be going so bad now .. I started using all my syns (and perhaps went over by 3 or 4 lol) and varied my SP days and more weight has seemed to come off .. I have currently lost 1st 3lbs in 5 weeks :D but thank you for your reply

Hi I am Kat and Im doing SW from home, I dont drive and I cant get to my nearest meeting so I have signed up on the website (with magazine) and am doing it at home. So far I am struggling to lose weight even though I am following the basic plan. I dont understand SP days and things like that. Ive been doing it for 6 weeks and have lost 7kg, which I am quite disappointed in. I have no choice but to stick with a diet and I do enjoy the food on SW - I cant help thinking that because I am enjoying it, I must be doing it wrong. I have A LOT of weight to lose.

Hi Kat, just wanted to say that you shouldn't be disappointed with a 7kg loss, that's a great start. I'm not an expert but I understand SP days are designed to give your weight loss a boost for say a special occasion, and shouldn't be used long term. Have you tried posting a food diary on the forum? I found it a great help and got lots of support and advise from other members. Keep up the good work 😀
