Diary of a Newbie - I need your help!

You two sound like you are working hard at sticking to plen, well done!! I'm like you Claire, at the moment a 15 minute walk exhausts me far more than it shoud, but I am determined that this is the year I will actually be a fittie and not a fattie!! I live in a beautiful country and I'd love to be fit enough to go exploring all the holls and local scenery right on my doorstep!! It seems a bit far off at the moment, but I am determined!!

4 more hours at work, but the boss has just left which makes it easier lol, roll on 4pm!! xx

Definitely working at it but iv just weighed myself and don't seem to be losing anything this week. Feel very bloated too!

I'm really struggling with exercise at the moment due to being off work for weeks with a kidney infection, has just sapped my energy completely. Im finding everything wears me out. I've never been 'fit' though and I really want to be, I don't want to be whining that I'm tired when we do things. My b/f and I went to hong kong before Christmas to visit my friend and we're planning to go again this year, we did SO much walking but I just felt like I was half distracted from the amazing sights all the time by thinking 'my legs ache, I'm tired, I wonder where we can next stop'. I dont want to be that person when we go back!

I'm sure the 4 hours will fly by now your boss has left :)

So how long have you been on the plan maverick? And how's it going for you? x x
 
I've been on plan since the beginning of Jan and I'm loving it. Did it a couple of years ago and lost a load of weight but was starting to gain again so wanted to take control. Looking back at my old WI book, my weight fluctuated a lot when I was losing the last time, it seems much steadier this time and I have to admit, I'm much more focussed this time. Last time I was still out boozing every weekend!!

It;s taken me 2 months, but I've finally got my half stone this week. Very slow but I'm happier than I would have been if I'd flucuated a lot I think. Just got to keep the focus, hoping the nice weather will encourage me!! xx
 
How is the infection doing Indie? hope the new tablets are kicking its infectious little behind!

Still 100% this is good! i brought a kit kat yday afternoon.. . it survived till this morning. . . when i very well behavidly ate half a single finger and gave the rest to my boss (who is also my dad i wouldnt have given a half eaten finger to anyone else lol).

Hello! Well infection seems to have gone so I went back to work today. Yay! Am exhausted now though, felt like a very long day!

Was 100% till Friday but it all went horribly wrong at the weekend, not sure whether to go to WI tonight or just miss it. I know I've put on!

How are you doing? Hope you did better over the weekend than me! x x
 
Ah thats good!!! , did you go to weigh in? Im sure you didnt put on.

I wouldnt say i did better over the weekend the girls came over from brunch sunday so we had, bacon and sausage baps then panacakes with choco spread etc, kitkats, cupcakes the whole shebang and i had a chickent burger at 2am when we got in frm a night out ( a night i deliberately chose not to drink on so i didnt drunkenly eat pizza and instead ate a chicken burger coz i was so exhausted and hungry lol doh!!! )

its good the tablets worked !!

Didn't go to WI, fell asleep on sofa and didn't wake up till o/h got in from work at 10pm. Think it might be a similar story tonight! Am pretty sure I Sts though so am on a mission to lose a lot this week!

Doesn't sound as though you fell off the wagon too badly this weekend, could hve been a lot worse, especially if you'd been drinking! Have you weighed? Hope you've lost!!

Are you having pancakes tonight? I've saved my syns for a couple with syrup and lemon. I seriously can't wait!! x x
 
Struggling this week!

I just seem to have plateaued which I really shouldn't have done a few weeks in, I expected to be losing even if it was just tiny amounts.

Finding it so hard to diet and have a normal life too - how do people get round this? I mean Saturday I was at a friends for dinner and wine, I limited what I are and drank but still went over syns, Sunday was at a 4 years olds bday party and there were only sandwiches and cake available so went over my syns, It was pancake day Monday and I was slightly over, tonight it's my dads bday and we are going for an all you can eat Chinese and it will be really hard to monitor my syns, then tomorrow I'm at a friends for dinner and wine again! I just don't understand how people follow the plan and still have a social life! Very fed up :-(
 
Awww Indie, your not the only one diet wise this week im totallly off plan. . . im not eating rubbush just not sw cant seem to "get at it" if you know what i mean, maybe the trick is to accept the days when you have gone over, are days you couldnt have avoided be good on your other days and just be super good next week, i dont know i think the thing is, when your really into it you get quite savvy at whats more or less syn full when out par example:- chinese, if you order takeaway the WHOLE tub of chow mein is only 7 syns, so as i never eat a whole one i just load up on that , boiled rice will be free so avoid the egg fried and then i just have a small taster of anything else like one spoonfull and hope ive not been too horrendous, coz its the rice and chow mein that fills you up anyway, and ive taken to allways having a pepsi max with meals like that and drink it all as quick as poss then the bubble fill your tum up and you want to eat less (tech a cheat tip but hey every little helps) as far as kids partys go.. . your unlikely to find a low syn option lol !

Aww im sorry you've plateaued too think best thing you can do is get your head round accepting this was "one of those" weeks and as long as your good on the days you can be you have done your best and just acept it and dont let it get to you! xxx
 
Yeah I'll have a hunt for one, I think you're right though, if you try and syn each bit of a meal at least you have some kind of idea!

Feel like eating out will be a big challenge though, not sure if I feel ready to try yet as I think I'm just going to go over, I get a very kind of 'f*** it' head on when I go out for food and it's not helpful when dieting!

Yeah, I agree with you on that one.. I think to myself that if we do go out to eat, I'll be really good and have a jacket potato, but when it comes to looking at the menu I just end up going crazy! I do love eating out, but have tended to steer away from it at the minute unless I'm in a really strong willed mood, or have saved up the flexi syns! My other half is taking me for a meal tomorrow and I'll save some syns for a chilli I think :)

I have lost over 2.5 stone now, I seem to be losing around 1-2lbs a week, which is great as I thought I would have plateaued by now! I do stick to the plan 99.99% of the time though. What about you guys?

Thank you! That message was just the boost I needed yesterday! :). I went to the Chinese and tried really hard to have the most sensible options and had fruit for pudding, damage limitation I guess! Am going to my mates for dinner tonight - she offered to do pizza or pasta so I said pasta in the hope that it will be the better option!

I just think it's incredibly hard to have a busy social life and stick to plan, I know that's exactly why I put weight on in the first place but its still tough.

Have no major plans next week except a party Sat night so maybe easier to stick to plan then.

On a positive note I have done Davinas exercise DVD two days running and really enjoyed it!

Do you post a food diary Charlie? I would love to be losing 1 a week. As mentioned in my earlier post I dont find the plan hard to follow at home but as soon as I'm put socialising it's really tough! I feel like I'm not losing already and I'm only a few weeks in.

Bit down about it all to be honest! x x

I don't have a food diary at the moment, but I might start one soon. If I do get around to doing one, it will probably be early next week and I'll probably post it as a blog :) Do you keep a food diary?

Ooh pasta was deffo a good answer, much less bad even if you go ott with what you put on it, o/h tried to seduce me to eat pizza the other night. . . i almost caved then i rationalised it out. . the size of slice i could eat would not make me full and for the calories/syns, fat content not worth it. . he ate the whole thing plus chips.. . i worked out the calories for him .. in one meal he ate over two thousand . . . how is he still thin.. so no fair lol.

Running is going well managed 6km sat didnt go this mornign cant find my sports bra doh! and theres noway im running without it so im gunna hunt it out tonight and go then, im really into it again so im finding it quite easy to get up and go in the mornigns which is goood :eek:)

Apologies!

Right...firstly an apology, I have been completely useless at coming on here over the past week or so. I have lost all motivation for the diet, I put on 1/2 a pound at WI. I feel fat and horrid and yet I don't care. I don't know what's gone wrong!!

I'm fed up, tearful and gutted!!!

I think i am going to try going to a different group next week, there is one on a Thursday evening which I might try? Otherwise I don't know what to do!

i am going to look at your food diary charlie and see if I can get some motivation from it. My OH also bought me the Zumba game for kinect last night so I'm hoping to try that and maybe enjoy it.

Feel so low though, i just don't know what's gone wrong! x x
 
Sorry to hear that Indiebabe, that 1/2 lb might not have been through any fault of your own, most of us put on sometimes despite sticking to the diet! It could be anything, like bloatyness or water retention!

The Zumba game sounds like fun :) I have one of the dvd's but I'm yet to try it (I live in a second story flat and my flatmate complains if she can hear me bounding around!) I haven't been doing much in the way of exercise at all, apart from walking, been doing around 3-4 miles a day to uni and back/walking my dog.

I hope you're feeling better soon, when you next lose you'll find the motivation you need :)

Hey indie babe , your not the only one.. . im still totally off sw. . . im not being bad in fact im actually being really good, just not sw good lol! i got too fed up i know i must have done something wrong but i cant work it out and this seems to be working ( not that ive dared step on the scales for the past two weeks) but clothes are looser stomach doesnt look pregnant anymore. . so im feeling positive.

Chin up chicken, hope your feeling a bit more positive, how was the Zumba game sounds fun?!

Not sure if you're both still around? I hope so!!

I'm sorry I did a disappearing act, I had a difficult time at work (colleague off, everything fell to me, plus soooo much that I can't go in to) and I've just thrown the diet out of the window and feel so sad about it.

I've put my slimming world weight back on and feel so fat and awful. Ive been really down about it and couldn't bear to come on here and see other people doing well...that's so selfish and awful isn't it?

Anyway, I have started ww today - I LOVE sw but I think it's difficult to fit around my lifestyle - am hoping that the flexibility of ww points will suit me better and so that's what I'm doing? 1 day down and it's gone fine - I'm sure it will get harder but am just going to take it 1 day at a time!

Hope your weight loss is going better than mine has been, but here's to a skinny future! :) x x
 
Hey hey! ive done the same kind of thing and done a dissapearing act so if your still checking this hhiiiiii!!

AWw bless you babe. . tell me about it last few months have NOT been good. . well ups and downs but diet wise oh lord i just went off the rails. . sw however hard i followed just wasnt getting anywhere so i gave up and figured i could do just eating really healthy, had bit of sucess then. .. last three weeks total disaster with one occasion or the other its been horrendous im now nearly back to my heaviest gulp. . my friend who joined sw with me who had more to loose than me and who in all honesty when we made it a competition i would beat easily. . . she is now slim toned and a size 8 and i . . am bigger than before :eek:( so im feeling your pain.. . how is weight watchers i keep meaning to look into it but at the moment im doing a "cut" diet, see how that goes.. . hows everythign else? x
