Low-Syn chocolate cake
Syns for the whole cake:
9 yummy Syns or 6½ Syns + 1 Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice
You will need:
5 Scan Bran
3 beaten eggs
1 level tbsp golden syrup
1oz cocoa powder
½ mug sweetener
Method:
Soak the Scan Bran in boiling water to soften. Then drain and mash.
Mix all the ingredients together and pour into a microwavable bowl.
Microwave on high for 7 minutes. When cooked the cake will be springy to the touch and will have pulled away from the side.
For a free topping, pile with (defrosted) frozen forest fruits or, for extra Syns, top with chocolate spread.

That sounds nice, will have to get some scan bran never tried it!
Have a good day :)

One to try...
SCAN BRAN CHERRY BAKEWELL

5 scan bran
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 fat free cherry yogurt ( muller light etc )
4 tbsp sweetener
4 capfuls almond essence
2 eggs

Same way as other scan bran cakes ( ie soak, mash, mix, cook ) and bake for 20min @ 180C

5 1/2 syns the lot or 1/2 syn + 1 HeB

Well, this is the most tasty scan bran cake I've had yet
smile.gif
It took 1hr 10min to cook so next time (and there will be a next time) I'm going to tweak this a little and have 3 caps of almond essence and maybe just 3/4 of a cherry muller light in it and reduce to half the next time if needed and cook it at 200 from the start. I might even try it without the baking powder to see how it tastes and if it is still ok I can reduce the syn value even more

Hey there lady!

Welcome back. I was AWOL myself last week so imagine my surprise at seeing your 12,000 posts in one week!!!

Firstly, congratulations for the massive 10lb loss, that's immense.

Secondly, well done for this new found will power and ummfph - I need some of that ummfph too.

I am loving all your ideas Donna, the chicken parmigiana in particular. I am a major snob when it comes to fake mash, what is it really like as a coating? I have tried it using various different recipes - like using it for fish cakes and doing the cheese scone thing and they went straight in the bin after the first bite. Tell me Don, does it work as coating?

Loving your Barleylands haul as well. I love that place. I have been a few times since you recommended it, although I always get shafted by the olive man - not in a rude way you understand, that would be wrong, in the monetary sense of the word!! I have also had to stop bringing Mick because he runs amok on the bakery stall and I end up helping him eat it all!! Have you tried the giggly pig sausages? I love them. I don't syn them as no fat runs from my George foreman, but I think they are probably synned - there arent many syn free sausages around.

Anyway, I hope you and the family are well. Keep up the good positive work Donna and hopefully some of it will rub off on me!

Xx

Hello lovely lady, the chicken parmigiana works really well none of mine have any idea they were eating smash on their chicken! just don't overload and I would recommend fry lighting so you get that nice golden colour

Barleylands - you are talking about the farmers market - if you drive straight past the craftcentre/farmers market and drive right to the top of the road, turn right and on your left about 200-300 yards (i'm crap at guessing) there is Barleylands Farm Shop - you'll see signs like "turf £10", its a garden centre and farm shop - that's where my haul is from...I mean white cabbage for 10p!!!

Let me know when you are free to meet up!!!

Forgive me diary for I have synned....multipack of crisps
OOps ....repeat the following mantra "NOTHING tastes as good as slim feels" then back on track for you mrs. Remember how you felt last wi with your amazing loss didn't that feel better than eating those crisps? focus and that feeling can be yours every week until you reach Slinksville and feel that good all the time. xxx
