Exercise !!!!

8.2 mile run this morning, but felt like twice as far because of the wind - very hard work! :D

You and Vicky put me to shame these last few weeks, since dogbert has been ill I have got out of the walking every night habit, and it is not good for me, must really make the effort once I have shaken off this lurgy (yes it has caught up with me - thanks Missus!)

Bren, slow but sure ALWAYS wins the race - ignore what I am doing atm, for months I wouldn't have walked out of my own road! :D:D:D

Having a dog and having to walk it is my ideal long term exercise solution - sadly we can't do that at present. :(

Awwww - I really really want a dog, but we both work, and I think it wouldn't be fair on the thing to have it here all day by itself. :(

Maybe when we retire. *sigh*

I would want a massive Newfie or Great Dane or something though - grew up with hounds only, and small dogs always seem too small now, IYKWIM!

I'm hoping to get a couple of rescue cats soon - they are coming round to check out the flat next week, cross fingers I'll pass xxx

Ah, see, that's the thing Suze - I torture myself wondering whether we should selfishly get two dogs from the pound, on the grounds that any life is better than none, and then by telling myself that they would probably be rescued by the best owners ever if we don't take them. :(

We do have two cats who adopted us and are great little things though - fingers crossed for your visit next week lovey!

We both work all day and Finn does not suffer at all, in fact he has had the face on the last 3 days because he has had to share his bed with his other mother while she has been ill - you should see what he does to it to make it comfy while we are at work - he makes himself a lovely comfy nest or if it is warm he throws all the bedding on the floor - our last dog Barney, who we had 15 years and both worked full time, was just the same, if you get them as puppies they soon get used to the facts of life, we just make sure that at evenings and weekends he gets as much attention as he needs. We did wonder about getting another one when we lost Barney but after 5 weeks the hole in our life was huge and we had no option.

Someone asked us to rehome an 8 month old Patterdale Terrier the other week, we brought her home but Finn was harrassed to within an inch of his life, he likes peace and quiet so we had to say no because this is his house and I would hate to upset his routine - he is the boss - full stop.

Thanks hun I've been wanting to get cats for ages and kept putting it off.

Kittens are soooo cute but I might get a couple of older indoor cats - no potty training :D

Aaaaargh, this thread is just reopening the huge debate I have with my OH every few months or so. I really really really want a dog. Or preferably several dogs.

LOL yes they do boss me about. I love the Eddie Izzard sketch on Pavlov's cats - have you heard it? YouTube - Eddie Izzard - Pavlov's cat

Says it all really :D

I love the sound of dogbert getting himself all cosy and warm on the bed lol - a friend has a puppy who does that, and always up with the guiltiest expression on her face (she's a whippet/greyhound)

Sx

Absolutely love that Eddie Izzard routine Suze - it's so so true to cat life!

We used to have 2 cats when we had Barney, they were all the best of friends, when he had been out for a walk they used to sniff him all over and wash him to make sure he was fit to be in their presence.

Awwwwww. So sweet!

No I haven't heard it, will make sure I have a listen tomorrow (watching the Take That documentary at the mo) but cats do rule you, we are just servants!

Finn never ever looks guilty - and when we are trying to change the sheets he gets on at every opportunity to make sure we are doing it to his satisfaction lol

oh ww you need a little doggie :D mine are fab - must admit if im being lazy they dont get walked at all. but they do 8 mile walks no problem. they may be little but they are fit little things.
its so nice here today i think ill take them to the beach!

Ran 6 miles on the treadmill today as it was too foggy here to run on the roads.
