Exercise !!!!

I'm going to get back into the pool... hope to go once a week for this month plus some wii fit'ing!

6 miles again today and did 3.5 with the club on Tuesday. :)

Friday's normal run didn't happen because school STILL isn't opened after the holidays. I'm finding it amazingly hard to get anything done in fact! Determined to get back to my usual three runs this week though.

Who's been doing what this last week?

Hey WW you're all alone on this thread but am so glad you're here am needing your expertise!!
I actually quite enjoy exercise but tend to be rather aimless ie run for as long as I can, swim as many lengths as I can but I know that I'm probably not advancing just plodding - to wit can I ask do you follow any sort of running plan or weight training programme?
Any websites you can recommend for the above there are hunners!!!
xx

Runners world website has several good articles about training for races Lesley, but they're equally good at just taking a beginner and upping the distances you can do.

My OH did the couch to 5k programme a few months ago and found it really easy. You have a treadmill somewhere in your garden shed, don't you? It's little and often with it.

I never really followed any programme, just went from really fast walking to the stage where it was actually easier to break into a trot, tiny bursts at first, but you get better amazingly quickly.

I've never regained the speed I would have had a few years ago - I blame a different metabolism on Atkins, but let's face it, it's probably my rapidly advancing years!

Thanks I'll have a look at Runners World I just think I'd progress better with a programme. Am aiming to do the Race for Life in June but would love to do the 10km in May may see if there's a programme for that. I'm not totally unfit did manage 3km in under 20mins and yes I really should unearth the treadmill .......

Yay! Another runner! :) You'll easily do a 10k in May if you start upping your distances now a little at a time L.

Vicky - did you ever get back to it again?

i'm going to get my stepper out.
there, now i said it here i have to do it.
please feel free to nag me about it!!!

i stopped using it because i think it aggravated my hip, but my hip is now the best it has been for ages, so i think i could risk trying it out and see if it is ok for me to use.
and i want to use it because my jeans are falling down, and the ones i have that are a smaller size seem to have very narrow legs (well compared to my thunder thighs) and i think the stepper will slim my thighs down enough to get me into them.
i really don't want to buy jeans when i have several pairs in the cupboard!

Did you do some today Marty? I used to love steppers but I broke two in a row and gave it up! Hard work though.

Ran 4 miles, pretty hard and fast, with the club tonight - totally exhilarating in the cold! :D

ive got one too. :) love it!

Good on you two!

I ran 5.5 miles this afternoon - lovely blustery day for it and I came back as happy as Larry! :D

How's everyone else getting on? Vicky did you get back on the cross-trainer yet? Marty did you keep going with the thigh trainer? Bren do you do longer walks at the weekends? (Apart from tomorrow obv - unless your table is a VERY long way from the bar of course!) ;)

I will be walking up to town early tomorrow to get lottery and papers, all uphill, then walking from pub (b&b) to venue and back again later with loads and loads of dancing in between - think that might be enough - walk on Sunday when I get home after my full fat english breakfast :D

Oh I'm really envious Bren! I think your OH is mad not to go!

i have been back on it, have dragged it to the landing to make sure i see it, a bit spasmodic use though, need to get into the habit again!

erm nope havent got back on cross trainer. i need to dont i?

Managed to sneak out for a run (in the drizzle) just over 5km in a little over 30mins and a lot of it was uphill which I did nonstop so am pleased despite my earphones bugging the life out of me and eventually being abandoned and ran to the tune of my gasping instead!!
Last 5km I did in about 43mins about a year ago though at the time I was about 12 weeks pregnant and just out of hospital after suffering terrible morning sickness and not having eaten or drunk much in weeks.
