Help... family get together meal our dilemma

OK... I have a bit of a family reunion lunch happening next Sunday. What should I do? I'm in week 5 of 100% and loving it. None of my family know I'm on LT. Should I just tell them and have my water or would that look odd? If I decide to go for the meal, how can I limit the damage? I have heard that once you have come off 100% it's really hard to get back on :( Help!

I picked last weekend and i REALLY struggled untill i was back in ketosis!!!

If you have a look around there are list of allowed lists for the atkins that would keep you in ketosis apparently.... but its getting back on the TFR!!! SOOOooooo hard!!!

I am coming off it for my holiday and dreading getting back on!!

However!!! Somethings are more important!!! If this is a one off do!!! And you don't want to tell people then just make clever choices hun!!!!

Good luck hun!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

UK Lady, I feel your anguish!

Bridezilla asked me to come with her tomorrow to collect her wedding invitations from my friend who's designed them and she said "Sure we can all go to lunch." I stuttered "Yeeeahh..sure"
No one knows I'm on Lipotrim (day 6 now) and I'd sort of rather keep it that way as people can be so opinionated sometimes! I was thinking of saying I'd had a big breakfast and wasn't the least bit hungry or say that it's my time of the month & I don't feel well (they know I get the most evil cramps & we can't get Solpadeine over the counter in Ireland now so have to suffer them:mad:)
One way or another I am NOT gonna ruin this after coming so far even if I've to tell a white lie:feedtroll:

Oh Shivie.... poor you... I'm sure there must be some folks out there who have been in this position... I hope they respond before tomorrow so you can get some ideas of how best to handle this. Maybe honesty is the best policy... and they will be real good friends and give you the support you deserve xx

Linda, i had bacon and egg 3 mornings in a row when i was on hols 3 weeks ago and (hangs head in shame) half a portion of fish and chips and it didn't hurt my weight loss!
I made sure it was only bacon and egg as being protein it kept me in ketosis and the other was just a treat as i had been on hols for 3 days and not slipped up! (excluding the b&e, but that was all pre-planned)
So, if you keep it to protein then you should be fine with regard to ketosis xx

Just noticed you said Sunday! was it today, how did you get on?

No... next Sunday lesley... and oh boy but this weekend has been hard... would have given anything for something yummy BUT I totally resisted. See my other post to see whats going on with my scales tho lol xx

Hope you're not dreading next Sunday too much UK lady! Have you decided your plan of action yet?
I had that lunch with bride-to-be and my friends on Saturday and it went fine. Just said "Gosh I'm still stuffed after brekkie" and ordered a big pot of peppermint tea. Don't want to go into explaining the whole LT concept to the gang as they've all got fab figures and would be inclined to maybe dissuade me from my goal by saying stuff like, "You're fine the way you are, don't be worrying about it" etc. Am SOOO determined to do it this time, like yoursef, so no room for sabotage, whether it's well-meant or not!!!

Uklady, I had to join my colleagues for a business dinner. Had my fish with veggies. I have tried a little bit of cheese as well with celery. NO CARBS.
Lost 3.1lbs that week. Is it hard to get back? It all depends on your attitude. I knew I need to loose 10more kg so I was desperate to get back straight away next morning. And still on it. I felt more hungry for 2 days but wasn't like when I started TFR. You will go back if you want it badly!

Shivie, I'm not dreading it... just a bit concerned about limiting the damage really :) I'm sooo glad you got through Saturday though... I was wondering how you were!!
Avaya... thanks for sharing that.... AND you got to your 3 stone mark... wow!!! Well done you :D

Damage limitation...luv it!!! Hee hee! :giggle:
You'll be grand pet. As I've seen from others' posts if you stick to protein as much as possible you'll probably stay in ketosis.
I've the hen party coming up on 3rd Sept so am dying to know how you will get on and what you will eat etc. ;)

Panic over girls... my sister has come to my rescue by saying she will do a buffet at her house for the family reunion instead!!! I told her about Lipotrim and she is soooo excited about how it's helping me lose weight. (She's 13 years older than me and she must be all of 10 stone!! lol) Anyway, I'll still not have to pick at her gorgeous homemade food, but hopefully that will be easier than having a meal that will set me back.

Oh, this is fantastic news and great to hear you have your sisters support ... should mean you can have a brilliant time with a little less worry... :gen126:

I feel your relief Linda!! When you're not preparing the food there's less temptation to pick! Hope you'll have a lovely time with all the family and in-laws and outlaws!

Oh, that's great news for you. Glad your sister is being so supportive, too - I'm so grateful that my own family are so helpful and motivating... I hope it will really help you.

I had a buffet to go to the other week and I was ok - one thing that probably helped was that the food was all laid out in the kitchen, but there was plenty of socialising in the living room too, so I didn't have to be around it much. Also there was no set time to eat, or grand announcements like "Ok everyone - food's ready..." so I didn't necessarily look out of place at any time.

I took along my own fizzy water and a bottle of iced mint-tea (it was quite stewed and dark). Unintentionally, I ended up using a wine glass and a couple of people did actually assume it was wine! If you can ask your sister to get in a good range of drinks for everyone else, you'll probably not get a second glance... If you know for definite that there'll be a champagne toast or something, perhaps you could try experimenting with a drop of yellow or brown food colouring in fizzy water, so no-one will realise? (That's only a thought - I've never tried it myself...)

Anyway, I think you should be ok and I hope you have a wonderful time...

Im on day 2 and have planned to do 6 weeks come off for a few weeks, reorganise money and then go back on for 6/8 weeks maybe.
On 15th Oct we have a meal booked for Mums 60th, been booked for months, just got time to compleat 6 weeks and refeed befor the meal. Mum was a bit miffed when I told her I didnt want a birthday meal (begining of October) or a picnic for my day out with Dad next weekend

Welcome Zaracraft! That's a pity that your Mum doesn't seem to understand how important your goal is to you. I know she probably means well and if she know's that your on this plan (does she?) then she'll come around. If she doesn't know it might be worth your while explaining it to her and how it will benefit you in the long run to be slimmer and healthier. We're all behind you anyway so welcome aboard!
