Hi everyone I was told by a lady in my group on Thursday that to calculate syns whilst out and about all you do is this:

Say for a 34g portion of something the calories were 82 cals then you drop the 2 and half the 8 so syn value would be 4

So, for 120 cals it would be drop the 0 half of 12 .. 6 syns.

is this right? it did help loads while doing the big shop...that is.. if its correct...

Sounds about right. People usually say 1 syn for every 20 cals, so the method you used would work out the same.

And it won't always work as you need to round up some syn values

So 88 syns is closer to 90 than 80 so you would work it out based on 90 syns and that would be 4.5 syns rather than 4 syns.
