How long before the wedding do fittings usually take place?

The title says it all My wedding shop said the fittings are done 2 weeks before the wedding.

How long in advance will your fittings be?

I can't wait to receive my wedding dress, although I'm only getting married in March

I'm flying out on may 24th, and they have told me alterations will be done in beginning of april ready for fitting early may. The problem will be not trying on the dress every 2 seconds!
