I am sick of being fat, my journey to a slimmer ME

I think that's a good idea and def better than going of course. You can split packs too as a late night contingency or just something to go to bed on. I for did that as can never get to sleep feeling hungry.

I split my breakfast and have half a bar and save the other for evening time. But the last 2 evenings I have felt quite hungry and I had eaten all my packs so the best thing I could do was to have extra packs instead of food. I am hoping that maybe today/tomorrow I will actually get into ketosis and then I will not feel hungry any more.

Today is the start of day 4 and I have had a sneaky peep on the scales (they are showing 7lbs off) I want to continue losing at this rate for my first week so I am going to try to drink a little more today.

It is pouring with rain again today and is still forecast more rain for the next 10 days. Last year we were in shorts and tee-shirts at this time, but then I suppose we really did need some rain as the poor farmers here suffered terribly due to a shortage of hay because last year was so dry. The government had to step in with some financial aid so that hay could be bought in.

Lucy pup is recovering well but is not happy about having only toilet break walks on a lead as she is used to so much more exercise, god help us when she is allowed off lead again, she will go scatty lol.

We have another day of kitchen renovations to do today. We have to hang 3 more wall cupboards and then level all the cupboard doors and fit internal shelves. We need to go back to Brico depot tomorrow to collect a door that we were missing and also buy the lights for under the cupboards. It is wonderful to be finally having a lovely kitchen after 4 years of putting up with the kitchen from hell. I will finally have a great place to cook some amazing healthy food in the future.

we've had another very productive busy day and now all the cupboards have been hung, cooker hood up and it's looking great.

Tomorrow I have my morning weekly meeting with friends where we get weighed and discuss how our week has gone. We all follow our own diet but offer support to each other. There are 7 of us and it works quite well especially saying as there are no slimming clubs anywhere near to us.

I think that I will probably have the extra half pack later too. I just seem to be so hungry still late evening. Maybe it's because I am being more active.

It would appear my insomnia is back. slept for about an hour and a half when going to bed and then been tossing and turning for over 2 hours so finally got up at 4.30am as its not fair on my dh as me being so restless disturbs his sleep. So here I am watching a recording of embarrasing bodies, got a coffee, laptop and my book so ready for all mood eventualities. who knows I may even manage to curl up on the settee in a while or even crawl back to bed

been to my weight loss support group and I was this months biggest loser so won 6 euros. I have not yet managed a snooze and doubt I will get chance as we are off to Angouleme shortly to collect the door that is missing from the kitchen and to buy lights for under cupboards, wall paper etc so should be a nice afternoon. Then this evening we are off to our local bar where we meet up with about 8 of our friends for a couple of hours. The bar only stays open till 9pm (thats rural france for you lol) and then we come home, pj's on, telly then bed and hopefully get some serious sleep. :)

Lol we are usually going out at 9 to our local :)

Hurrayyyyyyyy I went to bed at 11 got up once for a wee but managed to stay sleeping in bed till 7am, now that's a lie in for me so very happy about that. We had a great night last night in the bar, sides aching with so much laughter, so at least I must have been working my abdominal muscles lol.

We have got plenty to do today, decheterie (local tip) first thing when dh is up, go to collect tile cutter from friends, buy more chicken feed then home. dh is then starting to tile the kitchen and I will be rubbing the paintwork down (theres not much) and undercoating them.

I have a lovely coffee, half litre of water to keep me going for now and when dh rises I will have half of my bar. I know I have been having 3.5 to 4 packs a day and so probably wont have a massive loss, but at least it will be weight off. I also think I need to take something to help in the toilet department as it is now 3 days since I have been:eek: and I know that will affect the scales

I think you must cram more into one day than I do in a week! I feel tired just reading about it :p
Seriously though, it's really interesting reading about life over in rural France, it seems such a different lifestyle than over here.
Hope you have a great day - surely all that rubbing down will help burn a few calories!

We have lived over here now for 2 years permanently and we absolutely love it. The lifestyle, culture friendliness of locals etc is just amazing. There is a reasonable sized expat community in the area and we have made some really good friends. But we don't just socialise with english, we have dutch and french friends too. Everything is so relaxed which suits us perfectly. We made the effort to get to know the locals and get involved in the community and I think that helps you to be accepted. The thought of ever returning to UK to live does not appeal to me at all.

All running around done this morning and have just had mushroom soup for my lunch, yummy. Before I get stuck into rubbing paintwork down I need to assemble a ferraira rocha topiary tree that I am making for my friends 50th birthday this week. I would usually make her a cake as I do lots of cake decorating but decided if I started baking maybe the temptation will be too much. So I decided to do the tree for her instead. It is all ready to assemble just need to glue the chocolates on now and resist the temptation of sneaking one.

Well hubby is cracking his whip again so back to work we go lol. And this is retired life for you lol.

Still going strong but having 4 packs a day. suffering with a nasty burn on one of my fingers from the glue gun which I was using to make the topiary tree. OMG did it hurt a big glob of glue spilt onto my finger and blistered immediately as it was so hot. I stuck it in water but could still feel the burn and as soon as I took it out of the water the pain was unbelievable. Now never one to submit to pain I decided to put a blister plaster on it as they are supposed to help stop blister formation. WHAT A RESULT within 30 minutes I was pain free, yes the blister was still there but definately much improved. So my tip of the day for any small burns is to stick a blister plaster on it.

My hubby also had a minor accident where he drilled into one of his fingers requiring my to steri strip the cut. So we have decided to have a day off work on the kitchen today and have a semi chill day. There are still things that need to be done other than kitchen so will do a few chores instead. So hubby is cleaning the chooks out and filling the wood baskets up whilst I shall be ironing and generally having a bit of a tidy up. Then chill out time for both of us.

It is weigh day tomorrow so will be good to see what the scales say. I also need to do some cleaning tomorrow as we have friends coming over tomorrow night to watch football on sky and got pizzas in ready for them; hopefully I will be able to resist.

Ouch sounds painful !!

My DS is coeliac ANd I have a recipe somewhere for grated cauliflower base (apparently it doesn't taste of caul) but it would make a low carb pizza ?

would love the recipe if you can find it, if not to make for tomorrow to try out another time.

All the ironing is done and I am bushed; put some stuff away in the new kitchen cupboards, but still got tons of boxes to wade thru and am not doing any more of that till tuesday. Tuesday is bank holiday over here (they have the bh on the day it falls and not move it to the monday) so absolutely nothing is open so time to get stuck into a bit more kitchen work.

woo hooo I have lost 8lbs and I am pleased with that. I have to ring the vets first thing this morning as i think one of my cats has broken its foot. Poor Billy limped in last night with one of his front paws twice the size and cannot put any weight on it at all. He is bright enough in himself and eating ok but is obviously in pain and cant walk too well. Poor baby boy. So I shall ring as soon as they open at 8.30 and see when I can take him, hopefully it will be this morning.

Anyways back to the diet; yes I'm happy with my loss, its given me a great boost. We have friends here tonight for football and pizza, so may just have the tiniest sliver and then we have been invited out for a meal on saturday so will stay carb free then as much as possible. Other than that I don't think there is anything else that can disrupt my week.

Frenchy don't eat the pizza, it will knock you out of ketosis in once mouthful my friend and you'll be back to hunger pangs and sore heads again for a few days, it's really not worth it, take it from one who knows. Pizza will still be there after you've finished Exante!!

I make the cauli pizza myself for DH, it is very nice and he enjoys it, if you really must have something tonight, prepare a low carb meal in advance that you can have whilst the pizza is floating around, you could bash up a chicken breast and make it flat, stick some veggies on top and cook in the oven, top with cheese near the end and there you have a very low carb pizzachicken.

Congratulations on your first week loss FF. 8lbs is fantastic :D

Pets are such a worry, hope puss is better soon and it's just twisted not broken :(

Congrats on the 8lb weight loss! :hug99: xx

The vet thinks he has an abcess in his foot causing the pain and swelling. He gave him some antibiotics and painkillers for 10 days, so hopefully he will soon be more like his usual self... a big softy.

I decided to have a small slice of pizza this evening as I dont really have any problem getting into ketosis and never feel very ill with headaches unlike some people. I know thta pizza will still be around post exante but I want to still partake of a social life when events arise. I will certainly not be having any alcohol, but it's the first time these friends have visited us at our house and I don't want to be drawing attention to myself by not eating or eating different food.
