Im back for good! 2012 is my year to taste success-& it tastes like a cambridge shake

Thanks MF...its just getting sorted now after an eventful weekend!!

How are you doing?? Hope you had a good weekend? How's CD going for you?

As you can all see by my previous post, I was really hurting Fri night - felt like I was gonna die! Or explode at the very least! I managed to take the edge off the pain with co-dydramol I had at home and so didn't go to the hospital Fri night. I did my theory test Sat morning - I passed!! I dont know how but I did!!

Felt a bit better Saturday - but still unable to eat or drink anything, just had sips of water. Then Sunday I tried eating a chicken salad for lunch as I had the shakes and just felt REALLY ill and my stomach bloated up like a big balloon! Really I've never seen anything like it, it was like I was 9 months pregnant. I went to bed Sunday night and woke up about 1am in agony! I got rushed into hospital and hooked up to a drip to get fluids in me and antibiotics....turns out I've got cholocystitis and gallstones! I'm home now and have got antibiotics to continue with and strong painkillers. I need to have more blood tests at my GP surgery today which will be sent off to check for liver/kidney function and any damage. And I'm waiting for an appointment from the hospital to have my gall bladder out!

So all in all an eventful weekend!

On a good note, I passed my theory!! It looks like my driving test is going to be the 19th August!! I havent booked it yet, I've got a driving lesson Wed and am going to discuss it with my instructor, as thats the date shes been looking at for me. (She only teaches driving lessons part-time - she also works as a special needs learning support assistant - so the 19th August is a good date for her and she reckons I'll be more than ready by then..... fingers crossed I'll be passed by the end of the school summer hols!!)

Things are going good food-wise, mainly because I cant stand the sight of anything at the moment!! Lol!

I'm back in the zone mentally! I'd made the decision to continue with CD 100% until I get to 8 stone. Then I had this gallstone attack, I discussed it with my doctor at the hospital and he thinks that its a good diet to follow as its low/no fat so wont provoke any more gall stone attacks. So that's an incentive if nothing else! lol!

I've been to my CDC and got a month's supply, as I'm going to be busy busy busy over the next few weeks - and if I get the job in my regular school for september I'm gonna be even busier over the next fews weeks preparing for that!! So I wanted lots of CD shakes here so I wouldnt have any excuse. I've not bought any bars as when I started those, I started going down hill and picking at other things.

But I've also decided not to weigh in until a months time, I'm just going to stick to to CD 100% and concentrate on that and not on the scales!!

So I'll add my weight loss to here on July 31st/August 1st.

Hope everyone is doing well / feeling ok??

Hey everyone,

How is everyone? Hope you're all well?

I've been SO ill lately with gallstones  and my bloody doctors is so crap about it all!! I basically have to wait to have a scan and see a consultant - and thats not until Aug 12th! So that'll be about 8 weeks after I first went in with suspected gallstones!! :jelous:

I'm going to the doctors tomorrow though and asking if there's any chance I can be seen sooner. I start my new job on Sept 7th and I want to be fighting fit by then!

Good news on the diet front tho - the weight seems to be shifting - mainly because I cant face anything to eat!! I've started back on the shakes properly as my stomach cant seem to handle anything more, so I'm going to stay on these at least until I see my consultant about the stones.

I'm not going to post my weight yet as I find it disheartening / demotivating though so I'm going to wait until I next see my CDC - which is going to be on Tues 3rd Aug!!

Hopefully I can report a good loss then!!

Thanks hun,

I'm waiting for OH to leave work early, I've just rang him as I need him to come home so I can go to the doctors/hospital, I'm in absolute agony. It started out as a little twinge under my ribs this morning then I made myself a CD shake and some water and its just got slowly worse and worse....i feel sick and bloated and all shaky and hot and I feel like I need to take big deep breaths of air but cant because it hurts too much :-( he's on his way home now so I'm going straight to the doctors and am gonna cry for something to ease the pain! I've taken paracetemol and tramadol and its just not touching it :-(

Hey everyone, well I've been in hospital since Monday! Was rushed into the intensive care pain unit and then moved around to different wards, just got home now.

What a bloody week! When I went in Monday I was in absolute agony and they thought my gall bladder had ruptured. I was fitted up to all these drips and a heart machine and had to have a catheter fitted (ouch!). I've given bloods so many times I feel like a human pin cushion! I havent ate since Saturday - so good news is I've lost over a stone in less than a week! lol! ;-) I dont recommend the gallstone diet tho guys it's not nice!

Originally my liver was registering a category 1 and was failing upon arrival at the hospital and my pancreatic enzymes were blocked in the pancreas by a stone and were attacking the pancreas itself, causing pancreatitis. All very frightening and painful.

They;ve pumped me full of fluids and antibiotics and I've had every scan that there is....X rays, ultra sounds, MRI's, cat scans and a camera down inside....I'm getting better and my liver and pancreas are repairing themselves but I'm still awfully sore.

My last MRI scan showed the pancreas is no longer blocked by a stone - that it mustve passed by itself - so thats why I'm allowed home. The pancreas WAS blocked and the stone has damaged the duct that's why I was hurting so much but its cleared now and the duct should repair itself.

My liver and pancreas were so damaged that the doctors told me drinking any alcohol ever again could be fatal!!

I've got to go back in 4-6 weeks once all my internal swelling has gone down to have my gall bladder removed in surgery. There's 100's of stones in my gallbladder! not nice.

The surgeon told me he cant promise that this wont repeat itself in the 4-6 weeks I'm waiting to go in as there's still stones there, but by following a low-to-no fat diet this should help.

He warned me not to go bk on CD until after surgery because the Cambridge Diet puts a strain on the liver and kidneys during ketosis and he said my body wont be able to take the strain at the moment and also when I want to come off it again my body probably would never adjust to eating normal foods ever again! So not good news for CD for the time being - but he DID say I could go back on it after gall bladder surgery and once all the swelling/soreness has died down.

Hope you're all well - I'm off to snuggle up in my own bed!

Oh mate

I thought that there must have been something seriously wrong to keep you away from lovely minis and your friends for so long...

Ouch ouch and ouch again - hope that you are now on the road to recovery and roll on when you can have the surgery and then it's done and dusted

Sending hugs - but not too tight ones - don't want to hurt you

Love

Sorry to hear you have not been well, gallstones run in my family and I have seen my mother and sister suffer with them in the past, the pain is something else.

Sounds like you have been through the mill.

Hopefully the worst of it is over for you now, take care:hug99:

Ouch this is a painful thread to read. We've never posted each other before but wishing you a speedy recovery. Although you can't do CD sticking to a low calorie diet could help. Hope the pain is acceptable now . PinkyJ xxx

Heeeelllo everyone!!

I'm back! And fighting hard to recover from this gallbladder disease!

I've had my op and am now gallbladder free! It went really well and apart from the stitches in my belly button, I'm healing up well.

I'm not sore at all inside now and have found out that I can eat anything I want without being in pain! Which is good news for the future!

But I've had a few snacks-worth of chocolate and skips (was missing those SO much!) And have made a firm decision to get back on the waggon. I still have SO much to lose. I'm currently down to 14 stone 9 and want to get to at least 12 stone by Christmas.

I'm going to wait for my stitches to heal and then get back on the Cambridge Plan, so I'm hoping to start back on that on Mon 18th October. Until then I'm going to follow a low fat, fairly low cal diet, high in fruit and veg. I'm going to stop drinking fizzy drinks, diet or otherwise and get back in to the habbit of drinking 2-3litres of water a day. This should get me low-carbed and read for CWP.

I'm looking forward to the challenge already! My life has had something missing with the focus of CWP and I'm going to welcome it back with open arms.

I've got a few nights out coming up, so I'm going to enjoy them and then I've made sure my diary is event free for the whole of November (with the exception of Bonfire Night!) so that I can stay on plan.

Events coming up include:

*A casino night on October 9th (for OH's birthday as his birthday fell whilst I was in hospital having my gallbladder out, so we havent had chance to celebrate it properly yet).

*My birthday on October 15th - a meal out with OH and friends (I WILL be drinking champers to make up for my 4 months of not drinking! But am planning on making healthy food choices!)

*My dad's birthday on October 16th - two meals in two days - o-oh! But again, I will be making good food choices & no alcohol for me this night as I will have Bella with me.

*October 23rd - my little sister's 21st birthday! VIP and fancy dress in one of the club's in Cardiff! So this will be a naughty night!

Nothing in November so it's CD 100% all the way!!

*11th December - OH's Christmas Works party - 3 course meal and drinks all paid for - so I think this is going to me a rather messy naughty affair!!

So I have a few things to look forward to and want to be looking my best!

I am currently a size 16 top and size 18 bottoms, although I'm wearing elasticated size 20 at the moment as am still swollen from my surgery! But I can finally see a waist emerging from my blubber so there IS hope!!

I will wait until just before Christmas to post before and after pics as hopefully there will be quite a big difference then!

Hope everyone's well?
