Introductions

Hi Everyone.

I've been using this site for about a month now and it's a godsend! For about 3-4 weeks i've been on Celebrity Slim (2 shakes, meal etc). I've adapted it slightly and instead have 1 shake and calorie count the rest of the day focuing on not too many carbs/fat/etc etc etc blah blah

Realising very quickly that calorie counting is definitely the way to go - plus exercise as the more I do, the more I can potentially eat!

Will spend a bit more time in this section and try learn how best to do it all as feel im making some mistakes at the moment, particuarly with how many calories im actually eating and what type of exercise im doing.

Good luck to everyone (and me lol!)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get my health back on-track after being ill for a few years and my weight gradually creeping up because of that. I've only just found this section of the forum! Before this year, I'd never been on a diet. I started Slimming World in January but didn't lose anything for weeks, and when I saw a doctor who specialises in my health concerns, he told me that I wouldn't be able to lose weight until my treatment kicked in. I'm feeling much improvement now, and have decided to give losing weight another shot. I joined My Fitness Pal this week and struggled balancing the daily goals of calories and carbs with protein and fat. I was always coming up short with the calories/carbs and being told I was potentially sending my body into starvation mode, but if I added anything else it would go over on my protein and fat.

I decided that the whole thing was ridiculous and that I want to just revert to the healthy eating I used to do before I got ill.

... So here I am. Hellooooooo! :)

Hi my name is Dave,i am in my late 50s and have started eating healthy,I have cut out the beer since July although I really do miss it.I have lost quiet a bit of weight but I am feeling a bit down at the moment, I would like to loose more but I seem to have stopped.

Hi Dave, I love your weightloss ticker! Might have to get me one of those... How are you getting on now?

Hi all, I'm DaddyPig, not the one off the telly though.

I joined Minimins last week as it was time for me to lose weight. Between medical advice, hating seeing photos of myself, and having a heart condition, it was about time I shed a few stone. I have no intention of doing any silly diets, I just need a eating/lifestyle change, hence this probably the most appropriate board. I'm going from eating lots of high fat junk foods, irregular meal frequencies (sometimes only one huuuuge fatty meal every 24-36 hours), and lots of snacking on rubbish in between.

I have managed 4 days so far of eating healthier, smarter and more regular. I have managed to start getting my 5 a day, cut out snacks and eat a balanced diet. In just a short time I feel a million % better. Fat and salt content is now really low compared to what it was before, and through this and some extra exercise I'm hoping to lose weight. This is the sort of eating that means you don't stop dieting, therefore you don't put back on the weight after.

Surely healthy eating, and sensible portions, combined with exercise is the best way to lose weight?

Hello all, I'm a new addition to healthy eating ^.^
Tried all sorts of diets for most of my life but they made me feel lousy and I would inevitably put all the weight back on. Started clean eating and exercise in June last year and it has been the only way that's stuck and also made me feel incredible in the process.
Stumbled a little due to an operation in October and generally feeling a bit lousy this winter but trying to get back on track now :)

Hey everyone,

I am also hoping to cultivate healthier eating habits. Too much junk food in my life at the moment. I was previously in this forum doing Dukan. I have been oaky-ish maintaining but my diet has been terrible after stopping Dukan.

My eating habits are currently a bit like Daddypig's - irregular fatty meals, too few veg and fruits. Trying to change this ASAP!

Really glad to find the healthy eating forum, as I really don't like extreme diets that just sound bad for you. The word diet itself is misleading as changing the way you eat forever is the only way to keep the weight off but damn that's so easy to say but sooo hard to do, especially when you looove food. It does take discipline and determination. It's easy to give up especially when your surrounded by people doing and eating what they want. I tried to convince myself life as too short to be on a permanent diet but when you feel horrible everyday and have to change five times before you leave for work as nothing fits then you realise maybe it's time to do something and stop making excuses! I don't want to sit on the beach in long sleeves and trousers because I am ashamed of my body, so it's time to get focussed put down the pasta, cheese and wine, and start looking after myself again with some delicious clean food and some healthy exercise!! :D:thumbup:

Hi all

I have lost 37 lbs over seventeen months by making heath food choices and would love too join your forum.... my doctor's surgery have done a referral for me to join slimming world but the voucher has not arrived yet and I am not sure whether it will be the right choice for me for or if I should just carry on as I am. I would like to loose weight a little faster as I only loose an average of about half a lb a week, but the main reason I wanted to join the club was because I am so isolated and it would be nice to meet some new people.

Hi honey
Well done on your loss so far and your healthy choices
I did slimming world a long time ago and liked it and got to my goal weight, i think it has changed a bit since then, as it was over ten years ago I did it, but it's worth a go to see if you like it? It's easy to follow and definitely a good way to meet other people who you can share the experience with and get support from. And this site is of course great for that too :)

Good luck either way:D

Thanks Igg.... nice to meet you :D

Hi

I've been a slimming worlder for a long time but am getting itchy feet and feeling in need of a change. I love lots of things about sw but am not sure its right for me at the moment though have lost a lot of weight on it in the past so know its a great plan. I suppose I am feeling a bit restricted having to follow a plan though of course a bit nervous of letting myself loose too!
Have been having a mooch around the forum and googling /thinking about different diets and am wondering if I could actually combine 'healthy eating' and exercise and be successful.
Going to have a look through some diaries etc on this part of the forum for some ideas :)

hi there
good luck on your journey x x

Hi all, I am wanting to change my life style with food. I am overweight and have diabetes and very out of shape, even though round is a shape. LOL, I am wanted to loose weight not only to be healthier and live longer but to enjoy my husband's and my early retirement, and to get off meds hopefully.

sweets good luck love we will do it x

Just want to say hello. I have done loads of diets with success but have not been able to keep the weight off. On 1 January 2014 I cut out wine and bread from my diet and started to eat healthy, the results are pretty good. This is going to be a long haul but a complete lifestyle change.
