long term goals

Do you all plan long term goals or short term ones and take it a month or so at a time.
I started my diet in march and my goal is to lose a minimum of 6 stone in 12 months (half stone a month) which i find very realistic.basically i have till next march to see how much i"ve lost.:flirt2:
 
I have short term goals and an eventual long term goal

at the moment my short term goal is to lose as close to 12lb's as i can this month.

my long term goal is to eventually get in to a size 14 then hopefully a 12! Im not really putting a time goal on that
 
My monthly target is 10lb per month, with an eventual loss of 96lb, tougth but achieveable in my opinion.
 
My short term goal is to get into a pair of jeans !
then be able to excercise
but the long term is a happier thinner life
 
My goal are both short and long-term.

For example:

A weekly loss of 1-2lb (this one always fails though.)
To get into the overweight category (7lbs away.)
To have a healthy BMI by September (39lbs away.)
To continue to exercise and become stronger and fitter.
To eventually reach my ultimate goal of 140 lbs (this year would be nice, but I'm thinking it probably won't happen till next year.)
 
At the start of the year I set myself the challenge to get down to 140lb by the end of 2010. Ultimately I want to be lower than that and I've known that from the start, but that's what I'm currently working towards :)
