What I am doing instead of eating...

@Shanny -- thank you for asking.

I loved the new CDC, already called the other one and cancelled (she was very gracious).

The new one (C) did the diet a just a couple of years ago and found it very hard (was honest about it). She shared her reasons why she did it, and how she is maintaining, etc.

I think this is going to work well for me (and possibly my friend that I brought with me to both meetings -- she needs to lose at least 6 stone to be even close to a healthy BMI).

She knew I did LL and loads of people in our community (the local US Air Force base) were inspired to the same after seeing my losses -- I really should have been given a commission (LOL).

And, so she wanted to be a part of my "relosing" the about 1/2 I regained. (and lose with me). -- As a matter of fact, the first stone no one noticed the regain, but now it shows and so I feel a responsibilty to get it off and keep it off, as so many "locals" are doing VLCDs because of the first few us of that did (I am the only one still living here -- the others have been reposted).

One of the issues I had with the first CDC was that she was more overweight than I am. I found that disheartening. I am sure that people who remember me fat -- and are trying hard to lose weight are discouraged by my regain.

I loved the aquafit and will make it a priority to go back on Thursday night. I am not even all that sore today. ;)

you know Mel, this is a sore point CDC's who put the weight back on and are sometime more over weight than some of their clients...but it reminds me of when i went to O/A some woman would 'qualify' i,e do a talk on how she had worked her program and been abstinent and not compulsive eating for years..yet she was 50 or 70lbs over weight and for me even though i know about thyroid conditions or medication or even the weight being caused by alcohol etc..its important for me for my CDC to be relatively slim to be inspiriational....but its a tough call and you made it.

aqua fit hmm ..well one branch of fitness first has aquafit which i really like..i have a new swimming suit cos in the old one I looked like a bright red bell-pepper..definitely not the fashion statement i wanted.

Bella

Yeah, I'm back to wearing my "grandma" suit with the little fake skirt attached. It is actually kind of cute -- has a 1940s retro neckline. But... soon I'll be back in to my very tropical looking US size 8 suit!!! (And looking good in it!)

ok instead of eating --packing, repacking ( I wonder if i can squeeze more in cos I am paying enough as it it)( the cab company better send some hunky guy to heathrow to help cos I can barely lift this stuff) I( I wonder how much on suitcase weighs in relation to what I have to lose and do I really want to know ?)

all day planning and watching the twilight zone reruns again and star trek.

my host thinks I am such 'a brit' with my love of star trek. anyhow i am not such a good house guest cos i created most of the chaos.

LOL -- my older sister is a HUGE Red Dwarf fan!!! Good Luck with the beefy cabbie! ;)

What I am doing instead of eating...

Walked the dog with the neighbour.

Went to see "The King's Speech" this afternoon -- 2 thumbs up!

Will have to work very hard tomorrow morning to get things sorted before having company to dinner.

Hi Lancs --

I am exhausted just reading about all you've done. Fantastic.

In addition to a little laundry, paperwork, dog walked... I have prepped and put the turkey in the oven and am going to give the loo and kitchen floor a clean, vacuum the downstairs, then go to my drs appt (sore throat and earache for 10 days, now)... then do a few errands and get home to complete dinner and tidy the dining room for our guests. Who should arrive at 6.

What I am doing instead of eating...

Well...

I have done the usual housework and dog walk. Not enough laundry has been done and I HAVE to break down and iron as my DD informed me that she is out of uniform shirts and does not want to go to school tomorrow in just her little starter bra!!! Drats!

I was soooo good today re: fitness - I got DD and her BFF to gymnastics, hurried home (making a quick stop to pick up a battery for one of the pedometers that is not working -- so, I can officially track my steps), then made DH and DS's dinner, and I rushed out to go to Aquafit -- only to find that it had been cancelled!!!!

So, I popped into a nearby shop -- and, no, I did not treat myself -- I tried to buy grapes for DD's lunch tomorrow. They were out -- so I got apples and some other needed bits and headed home.

I was able to see the family finish dinner, chat on the phone with a friend, and I tidied up. (Still have the pans to wash.)

I have been on this site, checked my email, FB -- and now I will make certain DD has washed her and gone to bed. If not, make that happen. Then, I think I'd better finish up the laundry and *sigh* iron.

@Shanny -- Had a very hungry day yesterday. It seems like a lot of people did. Must be the weather: rain, etc. What are you wearing on Friday?

What I am doing instead of eating...

Today was a family day, I guess. We took a long walk (DH, DD and I) with our little Yorkie. It was over 3 miles. Thanks goodness it did not rain.

DD had a lot of homework and I helped her it that sorted.

Did some housework.

Cooked the family a lovely roast chicken dinner.

Will give dog and DD baths... and then take one myself (have a long soak and start reading a book I for book group).

I have loads of other things I should do or should have done... but I am the master of procrastination.

What I am doing instead of eating...

I went to see my CDC and had coffee at friend's house.
Today, my DH was off from work (American Holiday). We watched a DVD: "The Social Network" -- two thumbs up! And, after our DD got home from school, we took the dog on a 2 mile walk.

DD had a swim lesson and DH took her whilst I prepared a bratwurst and califlower mash dinner.

I went to Aquafit and popped by Tescos on the way home.

What I am doing instead of eating...

Well, day 4 with the pedometer and tracking for Viva la Diva's 20 mile a week walking challenge. I only walked the dog for 1/2 a mile with a neighbour today, but I have average 4 miles a day and should hit 20 tomorrow. Yeah! I think this will be the first challenge I met.

I did a little work around the house, grocery shopped, ran errands, had lunch (black coffee) with a friend, did a little shopping, went to a weight loss meeting, helped DD with homework, made her dinner and tomorrow's packed lunch, and was on this forum.

I need to iron at least one shirt for Dd for school tomorrow... and my arms are so sore from last night's aquafit it'll be a real chore. ;)

Thanks for asking Shanny -- I did. the instructor was a different one than I've had before and she totally kicked my a$#! She was very hardcore... a couple of ladies quit early. (I'd rather pass out and drown, I think.)

I am going to try either a Zumba tomorrow (a first) or possibly another Aqufit. I think my Zumba Wii game may be here... I just remembered I picked up a package from the base post office -- but hid it from my daughter (In case it is something for her, as her birthday is next month and people in the States know to mail early.)

If it is the Zummba Wii -- I am going to give it go, as soon as, DD leaves for school.

What I did instead of eating...

Haven't posted in this for a few days, but have been on the forum.

I watched the "Will My Crash Diet Kill Me" channel 4 programme -- and have tremendous respect for the three dieters who participated in the programme, and deep disappointment in the producers who sensationalised the diets and did not discuss them with nutritionists, psychologists, etc.

The "presenter" was a physician -- but I do not think they what said she specialised in, if anything, so she could have been a opthmologist for all I know. Also, on the thread regarding this programme posters mentioned that the doctor looked overweight and I think so, too. They never showed her whole length and her arms were quite heavy. I think she was not a good choice for this programme, as I would find it difficult to take advice from someone who was not following it themselves. (I changed CD counsellors -- and one of the reasons was that the first one was so overweight.)

I would have liked to have seen some scientific data and physchological discussion about how these diets affect participants, and also about how being overweight affects people (physically and mentally). Note: I really felt that the Cambridge WLP should not have been "shown" side by side with the true crash diets of the maple syrup and cabbage soup.

If you have not seen the film Supersize Me -- I highly recommend it. The individual who made this film, had a physical before starting his "experiemental diet", explained what his "rules" about the diet would be, had input from people who cared about him (his girlfriend was a vegan chef), and it seemed to be a very fair assessment of what was happening to him. Also, he had another physical to show the effects of the diet on his body.

In addition to watching tele and doing our laundry -- still no ironing -- (but I did spend over two hours at a launderette doing a friend's mountain of wash, whilst she was at a medical appointment), I also did the daily dishes, cooking, shopping, etc. (normal house chores), but I have not enough and not all I should have done (so, I feel even more behind than usual) and this is because I have been very social.

I had my daugher's class presentation on Wednesday afternoon (and visited with a friend between the show and having to pick DD up from her afterschool activity). Then, I rushed home to make dinner and went out to play Bunco with the RAF Wives on Wednesday night (so it was a late night).

Thursday was out the door early to go with the friend to help with the wash -- then shop afterwards, and then it was a rush home to do the gymnastics transport, call the vet as our dog's tail seems very hurt, had my DH take the dog to vet as I sorted dinner and got ready to go out to ladies' quiz nite (our team won by 1/2 a point). I also won a raffle prize... does not make up dog being in pain or for the vet bill of 56 pounds, but it did make me think about Yin and Yang.

Friday was another social thing -- a daytime Pampered Chef Party (and quite far from here, but my friend drove). There was a terrible accident (whilst we at the party) and the main roads were closed when we went to leave. So we took our other friend straight to her hair appt. (and dropped her a good point to walk, as trying to get through the traffic would have made her very late). Then we parked, did a little shopping, and had a coffee while she had her hair cut and styled (less than an hour). I had to get home, get dinner sorted, and waited for DD to get home -- as she as her transport was stuck in traffic. After dinner, I booked our flights to go to Texas in April(my sister has been asking me to sort this) and sent some emails regarding the trip...

Finally, I relaxed to watch the "Diet" programme that I had recorded on Wednesday.

I almost never have so many social things in one week: I go weeks without any. So, this has made me fall behind in the house, with my fitness plans, errands, etc. I have a lot of make up work to do over the weekend.

I'll check out the forum for a bit longer, have my first CD product for the day, then get with DD to work on her room.
