MinnieMel is nolonger considers herself a CDer. One final post.

@Jfryyyy -- lol. If I am being more productive than you are... when did you fall into the coma. ;)

DD is being a bit productive (reluctantly atm). She has finished painting the planets (some will need touching up and I want her to add details) and I suggested whe work on this 3d puzzle she has. She opened the package and then wandered off -- I suspect she either playing with toys in her room or the gaming system that is upstairs.

Oh well... yucky day. We just planned a day out tomorrow with a friend.

Are you still working? Or looking? I hope things fall into place for you.

MM

Yes, I am still here until Friday!

Have been looking around on direct.gov for local work but doesn't seem to be a whole lot going at the moment although i will literally take ANY job at the moment just to keep me going until I can find something within the I.T. industry.

I remember my projects for school always used to be done by my mother so I can't pass any comment on that, I was never the arts & crafts type :)

I have recently decided to start Rugby training again so I will be having a little shopping trip later to get my kit, something to look forward to in this grey, miserable weather!

Hope you have a nice day with your friend tomorrow MM.

Day 58 -- If I am counting correctly.

DD is painting her styrofoam planets in order to assemble a model solar system. Her teacher likes to give "break homework" -- it is not due until March 7th, but I would like her to go ahead and get it done (as the weather is rubbish).

Then, I should run some errands (got sidetracked being helpful yesterday), and plan some fitness.

Working a bit on the housework (not much), spending time on the computer (too much), and I am planning to do some reading, project work, and sorting.

Time to make DDs lunch. I had my porridge rather late -- so, I'll wait for my MAM or CD soup until a bit later.

*I am working well on the water and walking -- as I have made so many trips to the loo. lol

MM
Another amusing post MM, I love your slant on life :D

What I am doing instead of eating...

Morning All --

We are off to Space today.

Procrastinator that I am... I did not pre-book admission on-line for the National space Centre in Leiscester (about an hour or so drive north). So, I may in a line -- at least it is not raining. :)

Half-term is more than half over and DD has not had a holiday -- so, I am going to take her to space (plus, it is this term's theme).

Note: I did do some errands yesterday and even manageed to get home in time to cook dinner! -- I also did some bargain shopping and so will wear my new skirt with my new boots! The boots were ordered ages ago and finally arrived. I'll bring other shoes, in case these make my feet hurt.

@Chels -- Really? I think my posts are only entertaining (if at all) because it might make something think, "Geez, at least MY life isn't THAT boring." lol

@Jfryyyy -- I am hoping that something worthwhile pops up soon. I know the stress of this situation, myself. Have you contacted hunters that specialise in IT placements?

YEAH!!!! THE SUN IS OUT!

MM

There you are Mel, missed seeing your wonderfully witty posts over on Maintenance. Forgot you were in Space today. Did you manage to catch up with the Robinsons? :D I used to love that, with the Professor and the silly robot hahaha.

Hope you have a safe re-entry ;) and look forward to hearing all about it. You'll have to catch up with my horrible day in my diary. If I ever tell you I've signed up AGAIN for internet dating.............you have my permission to hit me.........HARD!!! You'll see why :D

Back from Space!

Morning Mel how's the book treating you ? lol i started reading just this minute.. so far so good.

Afternoon Shanny,

I have read through the Forward and Introductions and suspect that LL incorporated a lot of CBT into their programme. I found that very helpful, and think that this book will be very good.

there's a Beck book in maintance section.. worth a nose maybe.

I think I will go on and read through that after I have read a bit more.

How was your day yesterday?

Pretty good, thanks for asking.

did your boots hurt your lil feet?

My feet did hurt bit after all the walking around the Space Center, plus they have about a 3" heel -- and I am not used to that. But they looked very cute with long denim skirt (size 12 and bit loose!) I was wearing.
xx

Hi Ya'll --
(I'm practicing my Southern accent for Texas.)

I am back from Space.

The National Space Centre was quite interesting and informative, also a very looooong day.
I knew that I should have pre-booked tickets on-line in advance (as it was half-term). So, we had to park quite a distance and hoof it (calories burned!), and then stand in line for a loooong time to get tickets.
Then our "showing" was nearly four hours in the future, so we saw most of the Center -- except for a couple of "cool things" that were too crowded.
However, our tickets were upgraded for free for annual admission, so we can go back on a another day and see those things (probably in conjuction with doing something else in that area).

I think I am going to watch Muppets in Space with DD Saturday as I iron. I really need to do this: watch the Muppets (I love them) and iron (I hate that). so, maybe it'll balance (Ying/Yang).

I also need to get DD to finish her Solar System model -- which I learned yesterday is called a Orrerey! And, she has some other school stuff to do.

Well, I am going to try and catch up on MMs, then get get busy with my housework, DD's homework, some errands, and not necessarily in that order.

ah, muppets. i remember these. i remember getting a kids deck chair out in my parents living room to watch the muppets every week. :) happy days. muppets, moomins, penelope pitstop..... those were the days of my youth. along with summer months listening to thunderstorms whilst doing crosswords and puzzles on my tummy until one year i had boobs and my chest started hurting when i rested on my tummy :(

anyway.... sounds like a good trip even if you did have to queue.

meant to say.... zumba.... do you ever find yourself just dancing round the house like a loon doing the odd job whilst dancing?

Morning All --

I am off to Rosemary Conley Zumba in a few. I need to find my mojo and to the exercise thing sorted.

I have read through and done the exercises in the Beck book up through Day 3. Today, I am supposed to work on credit. I skimmed ahead and it is sometime before I get to the "exercise" section - but this is where I really could use Beck's help. I also need some help with the water, so will adapt what I learn about CBT from the Beck book to help implement that change.

@GT --
Penelope Pitstop and the Wacky Racers... I watched those as a kid and my son (now 19) did as well. We both loved that programme.

Dancing like a loon... yes. I have (and should do it more often) used my DD's ipod and listened to her tunes as I cleaned up. I find myself working better and enjoying it more. (Hanana Montana can really get you moving.)

What I did instead of eating...

Well, another day is almost over --

I'll start "week 2" of Beck tomorrow after I do a reclean (purge) of the kitchen.

I am also going to make myself a ARC for WATER, and am already thinking about Day 9 and exercise. This is something that I really have to work on for long term management. I knew this going into LL in 2008, and it was when I quit exercising that I started to regain. My BMR is non-existent... I definately an economy model: totally fuel efficient.

DD's solar system may be finished tomorrow, so -- much to Bess's dismay -- I may change my avatar from DD in space to her homework project.

I am going to give myself a non-Beck related credit... I learned how to put stuff on DD's Kindle today. I even bought a book that I should be reading for my online book group.

So, it'll be make some tea, make my water ARC, read through the ARCs, and then --perhaps -- start on the ebook. I am not sure how this will work for me... I am not a big fan of electronic reading. Writing, yes... because I can type almost as fast I can talk (and if you ever met me you'd be impressed). That "bragged" -- this is not error free typing. lol

Nite.

MM

Hows the book going? Do you think it would suit me?? Hope your having a good day x x x

Wow u mean business Mel with the clean out what about your family? Hope your well today. And well done on your 2 lbs loss. X

my BMR is also non-existent :( i can eat 1479 cals if i do not do exercise, more if i do but.... if i eat more i do put on weight regardless of exercise. :( if i do 810 plan and no exercise the weight drops off me. if i do the 810 and do exercise the weight doesn't drop off me and i'm finding the same with the high plans. i feel like i've given up trying to be good half the time. i exercise 4/5 times a week. i burn around 3000 cals a week off and nowt comes off but goes on! i then spend the last 3 days desperately trying to get a couple of pound off that crept on. sick of the same old now. turned hubby down for a lunch today. it's weigh day tomorrow and i'd jepadise my weigh in if i ate out.

@ Michelle: I highly recommend The Beck Diet Solution. I think that not only will help you whilst you are losing weight, it will help you to maintain your losses.

You can order it from Amazon.co.uk before you head out into the woods -- and it'll be there when you get back. You need to work through it order. As you are already dieting, you can work through the days (no skipping of steps) to catch up to wherever you feel you are in the programme. It is 45 day programme.

So far today, instead of eating --

I was on MMs a bit earlier.

Reading a little on the Kindle -- I quite like it, so far. I am enjoying the book, too (Alice I Have Been).

A little housework (very little).

A little help with DD and made her lunch.

Then, my CFF came by and we had a long chat and I discussed Beck with her, and I gave her The Neris and India Diet book as it fits very well with her Atkins diet. She said that she will order Beck, too.

While she was here, I made two rolled meatloafs (very good recipe: it is assembled like a chocolate roll).

You pat the meatloaf into a long rectangle and layer ham, cheese and chopped spinach or broccoli on it, then you roll it and put it into a loaf pan and bake it.

I used the Rosemary Conley 5% fat cheese, cooked ham thin sliced and broccoli. The meatloaf mixture is 2 lbs of 93% lean mince, dried onions, parsley, seasoning, 2 eggs beaten, some A1 sauce (2 tbsp), and whole wheat breadcrumbs... but I use just enough to hold the mince together (a cup or less). Bake 170 for 1 hour.

I made one for my family and the other for CFFs, since I had four pounds of mince I needed to cook or freeze.

I am baking mine this afternoon and will let it cool. I will then cut it into slices and DH can take it to work for lunch next week.

I will make Apple Spiced Pork Chops for dinner tonight and some brown rice to go with it. (I was given some helpful hints for making brown rice more edible -- if it works I'll put it in here).

So, back to Beck:

I did week one Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I am finishing up Week One by doing a reclean/declutter/arrange of my kitchen. I did this before I started dieting On December 27th, but after DD's birthday with time: it needs to be done again.

I have cleaned the fridge and used the mince for meatloafs and decided on dinner (plus, started a grocery list).
I sorted the "candy basket" (and put candy that no one in this house will eat in a large ziplock to give a friend who works at a school).
I sorted my CD box (and I made up my order for tomorrow's CDC visit).

Next, I will work on the shelf where I keep some diet products and dog food?(And add needed items to grocery list).

Then, I will move onto the snack cupboard (tossing old things into the bird food bag, which I will take to my neighbour.

After that will be the lower storage cupboard -- with baking mixes, seasoning packets, pasta, etc. -- I will organise it, inventory and add items to the grocery list.

I will finish the food by doing the big pantry cabinent. (I will organise, inventory, toss old cereal into bird food bag, and add needed items to grocery list.)

After I have finished all this: I will make up next week's South Beach meal menu for my DH, DS, and DD -- and I will read my CD 810 booklet first in order to choose meals that will work with 810 in case I decide to do 810 next week.

Note: I am contemplating doing SS or SS+ since my losses have not been very good the past two weeks. My CD order is for 21 products and a MAM.

Anyway, I have read my ARCs twice, and made up my water one. I made a new rules for myself:
I have to have an 8 oz glass of water first thing in th emorning. I have to alternate water with ANY other beverage. So, if I have a cup of coffee I cannot have another one until I have drunk 8 oz of water. As much coffee as I drink, I should get all 3 liters in with no problem! ;) And, I have to take sips of water between bites when I "sit to eat".

I am trying to implement them today -- and hope to be successful with all of them tomorrow and from now on.

MM

Hi Nicki --

my BMR is also non-existent :( i can eat 1479 cals if i do not do exercise, more if i do but.... if i eat more i do put on weight regardless of exercise. :(

Really? I wonder why that is -- it doesn't seem right. Do you drink enough water when you are working out? You need to drink even more than the 2 to 3 liters a day.

if i do 810 plan and no exercise the weight drops off me.

So, why don't you 810 to your goal weight with a reduced exercise load? Insread of so much aerobic exercise substitute some weight training. Muscle burns more calories than other tissue. If you build your muscles you will improve your bmr. Syracuse University did a study about 20 years ago with women in their 40s.
One group was allowed to change nothing except adding weight training (no aerobic exercise, no increase in water, no calorie reduction, etc.) This group lost more weight than the group on a limted calorie diet, a group doing aerobics, a group combining those factors, etc.
I knew a woman who was part of the study -- she lost 45 in six months doing this.
Body for Life is a book by Bill Phelps that encourages you to eat healthy and work out -- but weight training, toning, etc. for life long fitness. I know someone who lost about 4 stone doing this and has kept it off for 7 years.

if i do the 810 and do exercise the weight doesn't drop off me and i'm finding the same with the high plans.

Are you watching your sodium intake and carbohydrates?

My DH is very carb sensitive -- he needed to lose weight and wanted to do so. He is losing incredibly well (and eating well) on a South Beach diet plan. We watch his carbs and portion sizes.

He had pork chops med. cut (2) with seasonings, cooked with sliced apples and some apple juice and a tblsp. of brown sugar to carmelise them -- and 1 cup of cooked brown rice and some steamed broccoli for dinner tonight.

He was losing 3 pounds a week and now that he is about a stone to a stone and half from his goal -- it has slowed to 2 pounds a week. Better than my losses on CD!

i feel like i've given up trying to be good half the time. i exercise 4/5 times a week. i burn around 3000 cals a week off and nowt comes off but goes on!

I would consider getting some of those scales that show water/fat ratios. I think that your gains must be water weight.

Also, you should have someone calculate your body fat for you.

When my younger sister was 16, she was weighed in water at the Olympic traning center in the U.S. -- it is the most accurate way to measure body fat. She had 11% body fat. The only females with lower body fat than her were the long distance runners. (She was a roller speed skater -- 4th in the U.S. at the time.)

Your ideal bmi is supposed to reflect your body fat ratio, etc. So, if you have more muscle than "the norm" -- then you will be heavier, but your true bmi could be very healthy.

The height/weight bmi charts almost never factor in bone structure, and do not reflect muscle weight. They are really just a general guideline.

i then spend the last 3 days desperately trying to get a couple of pound off that crept on.

Why so desperate? If you were a pro boxer or a high school wrestler then that pound or two would be important... otherwise why do you care? You are keeping fit and cotrolling your weight within a range -- and do you like the way your clothing fits? The size you wear? The way you look? Numbers are numbers... it is health and fitness that you want.

sick of the same old now. turned hubby down for a lunch today.

I think that next time you should go and make a healthy choice, and if the scale doesn't make you happy: you'll know it is nothing you did wrong.

it's weigh day tomorrow and i'd jepadise my weigh in if i ate out.

I hope your weigh in goes well tomorrow.

Fantastic deal - and that's the one. You'l; need some note cards, post its and little notebook in which to record your food eaten and any thoughts (moods, etc.).

Have a safe time - and I hoping for good weather.

And, thanks for serving... I do not know if British people tell their people in uniform this, but we Americans certainly appreciate your commitment and sacrifice.
