What I am (and will be) doing instead of just eating today...

30/03/11

Wednesday -- It is what the FlyLady calls "Anti-Procrastination Day". It is the day in your week that you catch up on what you have not already done (i.e. things you'd planned on doing), and things you've been putting off doing.

So, I will do some housework "catch up", errands "catch-up", social visit "catch up", and see where I can go from here...

I did not do the sabotage as DH was late coming from work! It is almost as if he knew of my evil plot. So, dinner was ready and DD was eating, I only made her wait an extra 30 minutes for her father before I allowed to go ahead and eat. He walked in about 5 minutes after she started without him. lol

@Claire -- I got some things done, but the hoovering of the hall. (Not properly) So, I'll start there this morning -- the hallway downstairs, front entrance, and stairs.

No planned fitness yesterday, and only one class on Monday. So, two things today? hummm.

Gray Day -- time for the light box.

MM

Hi Mel,

Hope you are ok. What planned exercise have you got on for today? Hope your purse turns up where you believe you left it.

Hi Yang,

I called Postmistress Maureen and she laughed. She said she spotted it when she came in this morning and knew it was mine. She has it behind the counter. I'll go get it before she closes at five.

I live less than a mile from the post. and, I'll need to go there today because I need to get to the bank (deposits), American Post Office (mail things, check mail), recycling area (toss glass and fabric), drop 2 bags off at the thrift store (some clothing, a small fish bowl, etc.), go by the frame shop (pick something up, drop something off), coffee shop (drop something off to son's friend who works there), and make a quick stop in the grocery store for a couple of things I forgot yesterday (soup that son wanted... and I need to look at the list).

I just "wait listed" myself for VewDo Fitness boards. I have been wanting to try this class. I was "wait listed" last week, but they did not call until 6, and the class is at 7. So, I was doing something else. Today, I'll be ready in case I get "the call". lol

In the meantime, I have a "Core on Ball" recorded from Fitness TV -- I will try to make myself do.

I need to finiish typing up my ARCs and work on my water -- I have been so dreadful about my water. I am sure it is not helping with my losses, cravings, mood, etc.

How is your day going so far?

MM

Hello Miss Ying, you do so much running about you really shouldn't need to go to all these exercises classes lol. I bet you sleep well at night.....you must be exhausted.

Glad you got your purse back. I hate losing stuff like that, no so much about the money, but all the other personal stuff.

I am fit to bursting this evening after my free food egg, bacon, sausages and beans blow-out. *Burp* 'scuse me xxx :D

Hi Yang,

Didn't do "Core on the Ball" yet. Got called about being wait-listed for Zumba, but DH was not home from work and DS had a class. So, no one to be with DD. C'est la vie.

I did about 50% of my errands, ran out of time on the others -- but I can do them tomorrow.

I've already made DD's and DH's lunches, and sent them both to bed. DD has to go into work early tomorrow.

Dinner for me was a big salad with some (left over) turkey bacon for my protein. For DH it was a Chinese Stir Fry with bean thread noodles (Vietnamese -- pretty low GI). The rest of the stir fry was the chicken kabob leftovers. DD had sausage rolls, pasta, sweet corn and cucumbers again. We all sat together, but no one had the same thing in front of them! lol

Tomorrow will be a proper "new" dinner. And DS should be home to sit with us.

I hope you had a good evening.

What I am (and will be) doing instead of just eating today...

April 1st!!!

I used to love April Fools' Day as a child, but this week I have not been in a very jovial mood.

I need to have my breakfast, get dressed and ready to go a meeting regarding DD's secondary school transfer. I always get stressed before these things, and I am trying hard to use my newly acquired CBT skills to focus on the postive aspects of this -- and stop thinking the worst of the local authority, et al.

Anyway, some more coffee, water, porridge, a shower, clean clothes, etc. ought to sort me for them moment. I am glad that DH was able to arrange to be at the meeting with me... he lives in a permanent state of ZEN. We are such polar opposites... I am very high-strung and he is totally mellow. We are totally at opposite ends of the extrovert/introvert spectrum.

After the meeting (I am hoping that DS gets Little Dog to the groomers if need be) -- I get the dog, do some errands than were bumped, shopping that was bumped (only a little), cook dinner, do some chores, etc.

Well, got to get going...

MM

Hi MM :wavey:

Hope the meeting was a positive experience and you're feeling better about DD's transfer options. You're right, it is a really stressful time - not least, I suppose, cos it signals the end of an era, coming to terms with the idea that your 'little one' just isn't so 'little' anymore. :sigh:

And hey, it's just as well your OH is ZEN - can you imagine how life would be if you were both highly strung? :D I think there has to be some truth to that whole thing about opposites attracting.

Anyway, here's some lovely shiny CREDIT for using Beck ideas to keep yourself calm and focussed. :D :D

Hope you have a great day!

hi mel, hope you are ok,and your meeting went well,im fine,im moving over to slimming world for a while,so maybe see you over there.!

@Lily and Ruby,

Thank you very much for your good wishes -- they must've done the job.

My DD has special needs so her transfer has been a big concern for some time. We have been working towards getting her a placement in the only secondary school with a specialist support unit (for Speech, Language and Hearing problems) based at a mainstreamed school . There are a total of 26 places for years 7 -11 and so the intake is about 6 or 7 students a year for all of Cambridgeshire. There are issues with provision, funding, etc.

However, it looks as if she is set. She has the place, and I think the "Unit's Representative" -- who was resisting accepting her -- is now "on board" and feeling more positive about her placement with them. (The LEA's representative at the meeting assured the school that funding would be supplied for an additional support person -- that her support would not be drawn from the unit's already overtaxed resources.) Again, it has so little to do with her (or her needs) -- as it has to do with funding from the LEA, that it is just so awful.

So, once her Statement is amended (yet, again) to reflect the way the unit functions verses a mainstreamed primary school placement -- and the specific language is agreed to by all -- then, I will be able to draw breath freely. Now, we can focus on getting her ready to transfer to secondary school, the same way every parent should do.

Thanks for the Big Golden Credit Lily!
I am also giving myself Credit for not "stress eating" and remaining fairly calm during the meeting today.

Also, we were out of the meeting on time (unheard of) and I even got home in time to take the little dog to the groomers.

So, now to do some errands, as I am playing a bit of catch up, and try to get back to normal (because I get so wound up over all of this "red tape").

Ruby, the Slimming World option seems to be working well for a lot of former CDers. So, good luck and I hope you enjoy it. It certainly seems to be more "family friendly" than CD.

I hope you are having a good day, and a wonderful weekend.

Good morning Mel Mel.. i don't know what we would do without you on this forum.!

@Shanny --

Gonna go shopping with my DD, her BFF, her DD's mum -- my BFF, and a former co-worker another BFF... it is a girls' day out! ;)

I am wearing my red shirt with some nautical striped trim (in honour of your recent sailing adaventure) -- but my lippy is a bit pale, so thankfully I can remedy that at the shop! ;)

I hope you have a good weekend and I'll look forward to a long narrative about all your adventures!

MM

Morning MinnieMel, hope you're having a fantastic Mothering Sunday x x

morning mel, hope your having a great mothers day

glad your meeting went well, i hate those meetings with a passion as it tends to end up a focus on finance insted of a focus on the childs needs so very glad your daughter has the place and the support she needs to thrive in secondary school

@Lily and Claire Thanks!

@Claire -- What you wrote means a lot because I know that your (yours and Madam's) struggle has probably been a great as ours.

Nope -- American Mothers' Day is the second Sunday in May. This is just another Sunday in our house (even if we live in Cambs, UK).

But, thanks for the "fantasy". hee hee

LOL, sounds like a good excuse to have both... But hey, I guess someone's got to 'fund' the kids pressies to Mom?

MM, thanks so much for stopping by my diary thread and your comments - oh, and that amazing star-spangled CREDIT. Fab. :D

So far I'm having a much better day. Did you buy anything for yourself when you were out shopping yesterday?

Not as stunning as your big golden credit, but I felt you deserved some sort of special recognition.

I have a "thing" for kitchenware and red. I bought some Martha Stewart red and white collapsible measuring cups. Very cool -- now, if I could part with my red Kitchen measuring cups, this would help with my decluttering.

Thanks for stopping by Lily, and I hope your week goes well. I am glad to know that you are having a better time of it.
