new mums & mums to be !!! Who`s baby is due next ???

Ohhhh I cant wait.........

Have a good holiday bea!

Sonkie, hope you're well - good luck with the scan!

Sorry I'm not posting much at the moment, still really struggling - day 8 today without a good day and am utterly exhausted.. Must be due one soon, keeping hoping!

I did have 5 hours of what started out as very strong BHs but then progressed to mild-moderate contractions the other night - came every 5 minutes, were starting to get quite sore, bump was going harder than it does with BHs and they were lasting a good 70 seconds.. Fingers crossed the warm ups have begun and this little bean will be making his or her way in to the world sooner than I thought!

OoOOOOO How exciting, it sure sounds like it could be soon, I had braxton hicks with my second for about 2 weeks before......then one night in bed I had one huge excrutiating contraction so got up to the loo and my waters broke....
When I rang the hospital (nottingham) the midwife I spoke to thought I had peed myself like I can tell the difference......so they said to go in to be checked, so they took a swab to show my waters had broken but she said she should have given me an internal first as I was 4-5 cms dilated.......lol.
I have not had any tightenings for a couple of days now but im sure im due a few soon.....lol

I did have a bit of a panic on sat as I didnt feel Hannah move much, so I decided if she hadnt moved by sunday morning I would ring hosp but thankfully she squirmed in the early hours of sunday, and then all day sunday .......lol.

Scan went well, though getting a picture was a nightmare as she wouldnt keep still.......!
Didnt get to see dr as he was by himself and running near enough 2 hours behind, so am back on thursday to see him/her.

Today I have brought the moses basket downstairs so I can see how the cats will react, they are not allowed to go in her cot, moses basket or pram or I will go mad.....so I am testing them out today to see how concerned I have to be. So far its just Marks cat (little cow) who has shown an interest in it......she has stood on her hind legs and looked in which is fine but if she dares jump in I will squirt her with water.....or drown her !!!!! lol
Has anyone else got pets that they have concerns over them getting into baby`s sleeping areas ?????

Glad the scan went well sonkie! Sorry you've got to go back again though..

Yeah, we've got a dog - black lab X springer.. He's so so good around babies though we're not worried at all, not that we'd leave him alone with the baby, just in case!

Things still tough here, am now on day 11 of constant pain with no good days in between.. I'm utterly exhausted as I've not slept properly for days.. I'm upping the patch strength too because I'm taking oramorph (liquid morphine basically) at least once, if not twice, every day so the patch obviously isn't strong enough..

I've got a clinic appointment on monday to discuss management of the rest of the pg and mode of delivery, it's got to the point now where I'm just going to plead with them to do something at 38 weeks - try induction first but have a low threshold for a section if my pelvis can't cope.. I think I've really really hit the limit of what I can cope with now - fingers crossed monday will bring some happy news and a definite plan..

Oooooo I forgot to say I had a call from hospital for an appointment to see an anaesthetist about my labour ????????????
My midwife said I should see one because of my hernia, so thats on the 30 april...........

hey ladies....just a quick hello!

GOOD LUCK TO THE BOTH OF YOU ON YOUR APPOINTMENTS!

i saw anesthesiology on friday -- just a quick overview of the procedure and possible consequences....etc, of course my obesity was mentioned! (and when would it not??)

and further good news...like bea, i have my scheduled date for c section...may 7th! thats only 17 days away!!!

now if i could just stop worrying every minute of whether shes moving or not...

I know it affects things but it does get tedious .......I will also get the old obesity lecture.

Oh wow thatis soooooo close, cant wait to hear how you get on.........good luck.
now if i could just stop worrying every minute of whether shes moving or not...

Hannah has had a few quiet days too, but it doesnt stop you worrying all the same.

aw, thank you sonya for answering my message post!

i would like to further add something about the obesity lecture ----> i dont know why health professionals like to keep bringing it up...its not like i can do anything about my weight at 9 months preggers!

also to note baby movements...consultant told me, drink a glass of cold water and lay on my left side and count baby movements from there...should get to 10 by the end of an hour...or 10 throughout the day...swooshes, rolls, and kicks

my lil soujude likes to move round when i eat!

hope you girls enjoyed your weekend! not long til we all have new additions!

Glad you've got a definite date nina, not long either - 17 days!! Gosh, it's coming round for all of us! Looks like you're going to be the first of us to have your baby!! Are you getting lots of quiet days then? Little monkey! Usual things that seem to set bean off are a drink of cold water, a bath, something sugary - all of those combined with lying still for half an hour to an hour (an acheivement I appreciate with another child!) and really cuddling your bump, you should hopefully feel some movements.. If not you're going to get to know your day assessment rather well ay?

Well I saw the consultant today (well, actually a registrar, but you know what I mean), I'm now 36 weeks so they wanted to discuss management of the rest of the pregnancy and also the mode of delivery..

I was given quite a few options - including being admitted for the rest of the pregnancy if things were too much at home in a bid to relieve me of some of the day to day living problems - getting up and down stairs, cooking etc etc but, as kind an offer as that was, I'd feel more isolated in hospital than at home so declined that one, I'd miss hubby too much!

There was then a choice between having a sweep at 38 weeks at home by my cmw (and, if favourable, being admitted for induction of labour (IOL)), being seen on the ward and swept by a mw or being seen in clinic and swept by a consultant.. To be honest, if they're making a decision re IOL then it's not fair to ask a consultant to make a decision on someone elses VE so I decided to be seen by the consultant.. They were reluctant to give me a cast iron assurance that I would definitely be induced, if the sweep isn't favourable then they would reassess at the time.. It then transpired though that, as the consultant wouldn't be running a clinic until I was 38+5 (only does fortnightly clinics and there's no point in seeing her this friday!) then that would hopefully solve a lot more problems as, by then, I should hopefully be more favourable and, being closer to the 39 week mark, if the IOL fails then the baby's lungs will be really good to go (which is why they do elective sections at 39 weeks rather than 38 weeks now) so as much as it's another 5 days on top of the two weeks it might do us good in the long run..

So that takes us up to the 9th May - and fingers crossed my cervix will be favourable by then - I'll certainly be keeping going with the raspberry leaf tea capsules and starting on clary sage too - rubbing it in my bump! My mw recommended jasmine too so will look into that as well! Of course the ideal one is that I'll go into labour before then, I've been having a lot of braxton hicks and had an evening a week or so ago where I had a good 5 hours of mild to moderate contractions on palpation which were lasting a good 70 seconds and were quite sore which, as the Reg said to feel those with the extreme amount of pain relief I'm on means they must have been quite sore! Hopefully that will all be doing small things to my cervix, even if not enough to put me into labour then enough to at least make an IOL more favourable..

I must admit I was absolutely shattered when I got home, I'd taken some oramorph (liquid morphine) with me to the appointment and taken it at the end of the appointment to try and let it kick in by the end of the 10-15 minute journey home - which was no bad thing, we got in the ambulance and I was strapped on to the stretcher, hubby sat in a seat towards the back and put seatbelt on, ambulance guy leant my crutches against the side of the ambulance and shut one of the doors - at which point both crutches fell and landed on me and neither hubby or I could ge to them before they landed - sheesh did that hurt my pelvis.. The guy didn't even apologise, just picked them up and stood them up again.. Ah well.. I got back and had some food and then slept for 3 hours straight - that's more than I sleep at night!! I'm in so much pain now from today - but hopefully that will ease up overnight, I've had some more oramorph a couple of hours ago and will have some more before I go to bed.. Stairs are a bit of an impossibility at the moment but hopefully I'll be able to get downstairs again tomorrow..

But, as much as we dont have a definite "I will be induced" I do at least have another date to aim for - and will be seen by the consultant and assess things again.. Although you never know, bean might decide to come and look at his or her nursery before then with any luck!

I'm upping the patch strength tomorrow - I'm on a 10mcg patch at the moment, will be getting another 5mcg patch to add concurrently therefore taking me up to 15mcgs.. Hopefully it might cut down the oramorph usage..

I have been looking on some forums and have been told about the cold water and also a sweet drink should get them moving too.

Helen wow what a day !!!!
Sounds like agony, and what a lot of choices you have been given.
I sure hope those contractions have helped a bit.
So I have heard raspberry leaf tea helps to stimulate the womb, how far along should you be before taking them....and do you think they do work. Any other tips for encouraging baby along ?????
Lol I am not getting fed up with now .....really !

The raspberry leaf tea is thought to increase uterine tone rather than bring on labour.. So while it wont tip you into labour it is thought to increase the effectiveness of the contractions.. People who have taken it either say that it reduced their labour time or it made no difference (but then how can you tell I guess!!) but it's not shown to do any harm so I've been taking it!

Start at 34 weeks - go to Holland and Barrett and get the 400mg tablets, start off at one tablet a day and increase by one each week until you're taking 4-5 a day..

Other things you can do are mix 5 drops of clary sage oil into 100mls of a base oil (I'm going to use grapeseed oil as I'll be able to use any left over oil (without clary sage in it) on the baby after he or she is born.. You can then either put some in the bath or rub is straight on your bump and also your lower back/pelvis..

My midwife mentioned jasmine to me yesterday as well so I'm going to look into that as well!

Thank you sonkie, yes I did..

Do - I've got some jasmine too (which smells lovely) and I'm also going to add some lavender in there too..

My bump smells gorgeous from the oils - even if it doesn't tip me into labour I dont mind rubbing the oils in at all as it smells lovely! (Unlike the hound who's just come abck from a walk and has that yuck wet hound smell to him, I'm looking forward to losing the whole pregnancy nose thing!!)

Bea - hope you're having a lovely time away, enjoy the break!!

Back from holidays!!

Hi all, just catching up on posts....lots happening eh!!!! We had a really relaxing holiday.....all I did was eat, sleep and float in the pool. Hubby had been really stressed with work and he was totally happy to do nothing for the 5 days and our son learned to swim!!....bump has got really bigger..everyone kept saying - "you due in a few days" lol. I was a little freaked out for first day or so as I thought I couldnt feel movement (things we put ourselves through!!!)...anyhoo all well with plenty of movements for rest of the holiday....lying on my side as still as possible really get baby to move and tumble...must try the cold drink as well!

When I pregnant with my son and past the 40 week mark the hospital said if there was no sign of labour by T+12 I would be induced...I didnt want that to happen so a local midwife recommeded acquapuncture and hey presto it triggered labour....now didnt end up the way I wanted with a c-section but it really worked. I had tried all the other stuff - raspberry tea, oils, curries, long walks...one session and I was in the labour the next am....

Helen I know what you mean ......my sense of smell is amazing, thing is it tends to be the horrid smells.

Bea nice to see you back, pleased you had a great time.

Got my ANC appointment that was behind last week, so probably be in there 2 minutes, good job I only live down the road.

Bea, glad you had a lovely holiday - sounded wonderful, just what you both needed!! Yeah, accupuncture is wonderful, it really is! I know people who have had it to turn breech babies and all sorts!!

Sonkie - hope the anc appointment is good!

Nina - not seen you about for a while, hope everything is ok?!

Things are trundling on here, having had a few days where I've slept better I think I'm back on a downwards slide again, last night was awful and I woke up everytime I moved I think (well, put it this way, when I woke up and saw the clock was only saying 23.49 and it was the 4th time already that I'd woken up since going to sleep at 10.15ish I knew it was going to be a bad night!) but at least I've had a couple of nights of better sleep to boost up my energy levels a little... Hopefully the extra patch will kick in soon and that will help too! 16 days til next appointment...

Hi Sunflower....sorry you had another bad night.....16days feels like a long time when you are in pain......thats brings you into the 38week timeframe...do you think you will be induced then??? When you see people like Kerry Katona having their babies 5 weeks early and all well.....

Hiya Bea, yeah - I'll be 38+5 so, fingers crossed, my cervix will be favourable enough to induce me! I'm glugging back the raspberry leaf tea capsules and rubbing clary sage, jasmine and lavender on my bump like there's no tomorrow so hopefully I might even go into labour before then! (says the midwife who's cheerfully deluding herself but happy in her world that it might work!!!)

If I'm not favourable they definitely wont induce me though sadly - so fingers crossed that I am!
