New to site and off to a good start on plant-based foods

Hi, all,
Looking forward to the mutual support and encouragement on these boards!

I started following and almost-vegan diet of whole foods back in August. Granted, I've been watching calories and tried to stay around 1300-1600, but the biggest change has been in diet. No more dairy (except milk in coffee), no more fish (ok, once every 4-6 weeks), no more chocolate.

The results? Down from an all-time high of 174 pounds on 14 August to 154 pounds today.

An equally amazing aspect is that my energy levels are much higher than they have been in years. And I am wanting to exercise more. That's no mean thing for a would-be couch potato! So now I walk 2 hours a day with the dog and really enjoy it.

I'm 48, and for years I would gain about a pound a year. 114 at 14 years, 124 at 24 years, 135 at 35 years. After that it shot up, hovering between 155-165 for the last 13 years, followed by an inexplicable gain this year which inspired doing something about it!

Glad to have found the plant-based diet!!
