I'm a busy mum so most of my socializing is done at the weekend's usually in a bar... thoughts?xx

There's a sticky thread which explains why alcohol and CD absolutely don't mix

It's not worth it. People have ended up extremely ill on as little as one or 2 drinks

hiya, im in the same situation as you, im 18 and literally being asked to go out down town every weekend but im not going to be able to on this diet, i already feel like a social recluse. im so tempted to go out and just drink water (even if i know i wont have a good time if my friends are really drunk) - i know im just going to miss going out and Socialising.

Dangers Of Alcohol When In Ketosis

Hi all,

I cannot remember where I got this snippet from but it may be worth a read as we are now coming into the Christmas period and temptation is always around the corner!!

Link found: Post-exercise ketosis, ketone bodies

DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL IF YOU ARE KETOTIC!
Alcohol is a powerful inhibitor of gluconeogenesis. In fact, it forces part of the gluconeogenic metabolic process into reverse. This means that if all the glucose in the blood is being derived from gluconeogenesis then the consumption of alcohol will inevitably cause the blood glucose level to fall. Worse still, the alcohol also stops ketone body production, thus leaving the brain entirely without fuel.
A person who is ketotic is 100% reliant on gluconeogenesis to maintain adequate levels of glucose in the blood. If, under these circumstances alcohol is taken, the person will become disorientated and might lose consciousness, not just from the alcohol, but from low blood sugar. Needless to say, this could be very dangerous, and even fatal.
Alcohol does not have these effects if the glycogen stores in the liver are normal. Under these circumstances the blood glucose level in the blood is maintained by the breakdown of liver glycogen, a process that is not influenced by alcohol. If a person becomes confused under these circumstances it is due simply to the pharmacological effects of the alcohol!

Best to drink water if you go out as it is so not worth drinking alcohol while on SSing. The post above explains why CWP say it is a no, no.

Why cant you go out and just stay sober? I never understand that to be honest. I often take my car if Im going out because public transport is a pain and I never feel I miss out. Id much rather go out and have a soft drink than stay home

I'm not a big drinker, I don't need a drink to have fun.

I'm just if you managing to stay on track with SSin then I'm sure you could socialise and not drink?

I go out to the pub twice a week and have drunk sparkling water......

drunk people do my head in if i'm sober lol!

yeh exactly chrissyriley haha thats why it'll be tough going out and not drinking, cus all of my friends will be drunk and i'll be sat bored, and irritated haha

I'm t total have been for a year cause of nasty drugs I is on for arthritis. I go out and stay sober and then drive home chuckling to myself at what antics my mates were upto. X

I have to be honest as I always am on here. I have been on CD for almost 18 weeks and have been drunk 3 times during that time. All 3 times were special occasions, 2 x weddings and 1 x evening away.
On the days I knew I would be drinking I made sure I still had my 3 products but added a high protein meal......... Chicken and green veg or a omelet.
I have to say I stuck to Gin and slim with a much lesser quantity to what I would have drank before CD and I could feel effect after 2 or 3 drinks. Hangovers are far worse than before CD and I don't plan to drink from now till My hen weekend in Aug. I know its stupid of me to have done it but I would still do it again, So long as I have a meal that day to help soak it up and still have my products I feel I should be ok ( yes I know its a risk ) I have always managed to get straight back on track the next day and had a loss every single week.
Each to their own, I would far rather " cheat " with Gin than food  I guess that says a lot about me but If nothing else I am honest about it x
