Guys I'm just flicking thru the mag and wondering if the free food portion sizes in the mag pics are the recommended portion sizes (ie for rice or sw chips)??? Mine are about 2 or 3 times the portion size usually so if they are recommended then I'm fooked :) :)

What do u think of the portion sizes? If u look v closely u can see them lol
I'm squinting and still struggling to see a generous portion of anything other than side salad.. If I only lose a pound a week it's better than living of 5 chips..

Alrite but only if u do all the cooking lol
fine, but you have to wash up!!

totally agree ^^ 1lb a week is fine by me if i can eat a proper plate full!
i think they do it because people's main complaint with sw is it 'doesnt teach portion control' meaning they dont make you drink a shake or stop eating after your points are up!! .. so i expect that its because of that.

i noticed that aswell they recommend 10 syns at the bottom of the page on the 7 day plan i have 15 every day and im still losing so plan on sticking to that until i plato then i may reduce them and as for the portion sizes they look like dolls house size compared to the portions i have lol

I noticed the tiny portions too, thought maybe they were trying to look cheffy? Also noticed that there was no veg with the fish and chips even though it said Extra Easy, maybe it's just for photography (food styling etc)

Agreed, they always look quite pitiful - starter size really! Either that or I'm just an utter pig (quite likely tbh).
Count me in on the pig thing. Always have been, always will be. It's a wonder I didn't weigh twice what I did! All good stuff (mostly!) now though!!

I would say the portion sizes are for photography purposes only, as it would take away the focus of the recipe if the plate was piled high.

That said, even though free food is there to be eaten from unlimited, we should only be eating because we are actually hungry, not just because you can. We need to focus on recognizing our satisfied cues.

Maybe the portion sizes are for the a tiny person hoping to lose 5lbs?! Like the last five pounds.. I have WAY more than what's on the magazines..but they must be small in comparisson.. because in EE/SF recipes e.g. speed soup or mushy pea curry... the recipes make SO much!!!!

So the extras.. like sw chips with your steak for example. When only making them for me.. I use one potatoe and it makes loads.. how could you cook only a third or whatever of a potatoe?

I think as long as you eat until you are satisfied and not stuffed you will still lose x

I find that the recipes usually make quite a hearty portion - way more than the pictured plateful. I just serve up what I fancy and then keep the rest for the next day's lunch if there's too much.

On the other hand, sometimes the recipes are like 50g of pasta per person, which for me is a bit too scanty - so in that case I usually weigh out a bit more!
