Hey all.....Ok am coming back to cd (again) as have been offered a great job next march but need to lose my weight:D

What I was wondering are there any horse owners doing cd ss or ss+ even 810 which not too keen on......reason i'm asking is i have a beautiful 5 y/o who is a bit of a b*****d:rolleyes: and I wanna start competing him next year.. So have started training again involving lunging sessions at present and will start schoolinig him once i've lost the 1st stone...but do you have enough energy to ride? My schooling sessions normally involve flat work 3 x a week and 2 x jumping sessions. will always be in the evenings for about 45 mins, but just wondered if any one has experienced any problems with energy as he is already a major p**s taker lol, and don't want him to realise that he can take off with me if i get weak lol.

    Sorry for the rambling post.

Strange one - I can't answer totally as I'm doing CD years after finishing riding but having worked with a young horse, these years are when you need your wits and strength about you. Failing that, a loud voice and a swishy stick!
I did a few days of physical work while moving office and doing SS and was left shaky afterwards as I didn't realise how much I'd exerted myself so, while I had enough energy in the short term, it left me weak and feeble for a few hours later. I guess you might just have to try it and see how you get on

Hi - I have two ex racehorses and lost 6 stones about 18 months ago (maintained for over a year now) and when on ss it was a bit difficult because some days I didn't feel like I had the energy to even walk to the field but I figured for the few months it would take to shed the weight it would be worth it and it is now I feel so much healthier and am able to ride much better (getting down in the saddle). The horse does seem to know I am smaller and she will take the p--- out of me but only when I am leading her - all of a sudden she will stop and I have a job to make her walk forward but after several smacks with the lead she has soon got the message. Overall it has been the best thing I have ever done and I am now a counsellor xxx

Cheers for the replys, I think i'm just gonna have to try it and see what happens, not to worried as my present job is soooo under active as just sit at a desk all day so hoping the lil bit of exercise with the horse won't be to much for me. but got a few weeks to prepare as only lunging him at moment.
