Taz's diary - Need to do this!

I am thinking if I walk taller I might look thinner (maybe they won't make me look 7ft though - back to the drawing board). Seriously though, I do have back problems which are nowhere near as bad as they were. This is partly due to phisio, partly due to time and partly due to exercise, especially pilates and postural stuff. I also believe that the 16 pounds I am no longer carrying around is helping me too. The MBTs sound and look really good in a therapy kind of way. I used to do a LOT of walking before the injury and I like the idea of something that will help me get back to that level of walking. They also burn extra calories so that's a bonus too. x

yeah. they do look awesome. they are supposed to tone everywhere too. and relieve pressure in your lower back, which is where my back problems lie. i'm hoping that losing weight will be a big step towards my back getting better. i've got a big gym ball but have yet to buy the pilates dvd to go with it, but i will do and i want to strengthen my core muscles. most exercises that do that bring on my sciatica though so it's a difficult situation really...

abz xx

My mate bought fitflops last week - they're really comfy, so Im going to see if we think they make any difference to her and if they do Im going to get some cos they're not expensive and the ones she got are really nice xxx

Yea I checked out fitflops on the web earlier and they do look good. They could be a good interim measure until I can afford the MBTs. x

Abz - get a good physio on the job - traction is really good for sciatica and feels wonderful too. The sciatic nerve is incredibly long and there is a lot of scope for problems, especially getting trapped in the lower back area. If everything is stretched and put back into place, you may find that sciatica is not so much of a problem any more. Sometimes massage can help but it has to be someone with a good working knowledge of back injuries. My injury was similar to sciatica but stemming from the wrong place. It was still originally diagnosed as sciatica but later as an SI extension flexion (whiplash) injury. Once treated appropriately by a really good phisio things began to improve. x

Hi Hun,

Hope your feeling more positive and ready to crack teh whip this week on those pesky pounds after your lie in x

hugs Nas x

Thanks Nas, I didn't have a lie in today I was up at 3.30am for work! I am not working tomorrow though so I will be having a lie in!

i'm off too, but hope i don't sleep in. i've got tonnes to do! argh!

Well I had a lie in til 6.30am and I feel a bit more refreshed because of it. Today I am going to look at my reasons for wanting to lose weight and the things that stop me from succeeding and see if I can work out what is going so wrong lately

Good idea Taz. Get that motivation back and the numbers will start going down again. Believe in yourself and make it happen x

Well my mum has agreed to buy me loads of my favourite peanunt butter confectioneries when I lose 7lb so I will have to work hard to do it! My co-captain Rainbow and I have both pledged to lose 3lb this week so I have a lot of work to do and with a lack of exercise ability still it's not going to be easy!

Work with the super foods to get your metabolism going. Hide all the naughty snacks and make sure you NEED everything you eat. Even if it's just for one week it'll kick start you into something good AND get rid of some of those nasty squatters at the same time. Good luck x

couldn't you ask her to buy you something else that isn't food?

i know we both 'treat' ourselves after weigh-in, but to treat a slimmer with chocolate when they have a success seems a bit naughty! i would ask for a new top or something. otherwise you might eat the lot in one go and have a 7lb gain! lol

It's not something she would normally get me but I was going to buy them myself and she came up with this deal so that I wouldn't get them right now!

lol - bribery! i like her style!

my boyfriend uses that trick on me, then when the time comes around to get the food he'd promised me, i usually no longer want it!

By then you should be back on course and able to control your urges as you did before I reckon but if you don't think you can, I'm sure she would buy you a top instead x

Yeah I really do need to be so much better this week and I am going to make a real effort

Definately. She would never do anything to sabotage my diet

Really?! That's terrible Karen. My parents are 200% behind me with my weight loss and wouldn't intentionally harm it

my dad gets jealous and a little spiteful! it's only because he needs to lose weight himself, but can't bring himself to do it. he knows SW works because he lost 3.5 stones on it before. a few years ago he got pnuemonia which made him lose loads of weight, but then started binge eating to put some back on, as he thought there was something wrong with him! now he's taken it too far and is around 18 stone! he also has type 2 diabetes and is feeling rather sorry for himself. instead of changing his diet he sits and moans about not being able to eat white bread and chocolate... and is now eating more of these things than ever before. to the point where i want to grab the food and throw it in the bin!

dad does all the cooking, as mum works and he's retired. when mum did SW 2007/08 he used to make her quorn bolognaise and tell her it was free, but would put oil in it. i could see there was oil in it and i would confront him over it...he would then say there's not enough in there to count it!!! then i'd tell mum to put it down as sins! lol ...he even used to buy her fish and chips from the chippy! she still lost 3 stone! lol
