**TEAM TINSEL** 4 stone for Christmas

Ooh congratulations Ellen! Have you got all the wedding details sorted out?

I've had some family say I'm fat all my life (my grandparents and even my dad at some points!) and other that say I'm slim and fine (namely my mum and her friends, but they're quite big too and I am slim compared to them) but it always hurts when someone who's meant to love you unconditionally says it. The turning point for me was a few years back when my grandad didn't say it to my face, I overheard him say to my nan in the kitchen "our sams got big hasn't she!" and we'd just come back from holiday at the inlays where my MIL had told me I'd be pretty if I lost weight. I was devastated that they could say such mean things, even if my grandad didn't mean me to gear him. So I went on the Cambridge diet, lost a stone and a half in a few weeks, getting down to 15 and a half and then maintained it until I got pregnant, but even then I consciously ate healthily, so I lost the 21 pregnancy pounds I gained by time jack was a week old and was back at the same old weight so joined SW. Then again, it's not much better to have family telling you you're slim when you know you're not. My mum always says I don't need to lose weight and the one time I got to a size 12 when I was 19 she said I looked skeletal! She's not that happy that I'm aiming for that again really, but it's tough. I was still 11 and a half stone at that point which was still not in the healthy bmi range, so I hadn't overdone it. Family just sucks sometimes :( xx

2.5 off for me and decided something, last week I ate veg and all things good thy I didn't really like to get a good loss and I lost 1.5 - this week I tried fish as other stuff that's meant to be good but I didn't really like - and I'm getting no bigger loss than my usual - so this week im just going to follow plan the way I have been - eating whats good that I like and not just eating what I don't like just cause its 'good' for plan!

Still on track for my 3st for end of November - another 2 next week please!

Congrats on the loss hun, stick with whatever works with you, you know you body and it's better that you enjoy the plan so it doesn't feel like dieting.

Been away since 4:20, my head is pounding and my vision fuzzy so I will keep this short and sweet

Day 2 of holiday countdown - went perfectly!

Trying to plan some fish into today - Day 3 (only 11 more to go!)

How is you head feeling now hun?

Not all sorted as am just waiting to hear about something financial which will effect my budget (criptic, but only cos it's too complax to type on here when I've got craps - first star week since having Miles.... really hating being a woman atm!). But have my dress (well will do as soon as I finish paying for it), Venue is booked, getting 50 people with wedding breakfast, some drinks, DJ all for £1000 then I can tweak it, adding guests, changing meals up etc. Bridesmaids and best men have been picked, going bridesmaids dress hunting next month but kinda have an idea of what I want, colour scheme and theme are picked, making my own cake and doing my own stationary, Andy's dad had two matching classic cars we are using for transport, have a photographer....have got other things lined up but can't confirm until money is confirmed.

As for the family and weight thing... I honestly tink they are partly to blame, I've ALWAYS been big (was 10lbs 3oz at birth lol) and from as early as I can remember my weight was always discussed openly...started as 'puppy fat' then as I got older it just got ridiculous. I've always been fit...but was just fat and fit lol. I'm doing something about it for ME and me alone... If anyone else benefits from it (i.e. OH/Kids) that's and added bonus. Don't mean to sound selfish about it, just how I feel.

Anyway, back from WI with a STS, but as Ive mentioned, first star week, and Im happy enough with that. One more WI at current group before we move and I WILL get my 2lbs to get my 3st even if I have to strip off on the scales!!!

Decided to have a good clearout this evening and have managed to fill a whole large refuse sack with old colthes that no-longer fit. :wee: Very theraputic indeed...

bye bye big clothes.jpg

So much to catch up on here... So well done everyone, we seem to be having a very good week.
After my little blip last week I don't know what to expect tomorrow but it had better be a loss or I'l be verypissedoffagain.com.

Wow Ellen, we're doing a lot of the same stuff for our weddings!! I'm making the cake (we're having a cupcake tower and then a small top tier to cut on the day) and I'm making the invites etc with help from my maids of honour. I've chosen a black and White colour scheme, nice, elegant and timeless I think :) sounds like you've got a great deal for the wedding breakfast! We're struggling with it at the moment because it's all so expensive! We originally had 180 guests as both ben and I come from huge families, but we've cut that down to 100 by being absolutely ruthless and I know we will get a lot if grief from our families about it when the guest list becomes public knowledge. We're off to look at two venues tomorrow that we've found and aren't too expensive. It's just hard as I've worked out what we should be able to save, but bens been out if work since November and doesn't get any benefits because the job centre are ***** (don't even get me started on that one) and I'm on maternity leave and am down 8 grand on my years wages, so we have very little to get by on and to save as there's only my money coming in at the moment. We have the photographer booked and know which band we want, but I'm holding off on paying deposits because of the money aspect of everything. Have you got wedding insurance? I'm thinking of getting it just to cover us, its quite cheap.

You're right about losing weight for yourself, it's what you have to do as if you're doing it for other people you'll eventually lose the motivation. The horrible comments kicked me up the backside and made me realise if I wasn't happy thy I'd have to do something about it. Right now I want to do it for me. I want to feel special on my wedding day and not have it ruined by being self conscious in my dress. If I'm fitter and healthier as a result for ben and jack then that's a bonus, and now is the perfect time to start before I'm having to run around all over after jack once he's mobile!! Xx

After a 2.5lb loss on Saturday and then a 2lb loss on my usual night Tuesday I am officially 1/2 way to 4 stone loss by christmas after losing 2 stone :)

I have pledged 5 stone by christmas though so fingers crossed.

Everyone in this group is doing so well :)

I have 6 weigh ins left til I go on holiday and I would really love to lose 17.5lbs in that time to get me my 6 stone loss just before I go. I am going for 3.5 this week to get me my 5 stone award and then going to really work at it to get the other stone off in 5 weeks. Going into group on Tuesday and buying a countdown to take me to my holidays and fingers crossed.

xx

Jo - its horrible when you have a memory like that from childhood - I was always a skinny child but my sister was a bit chubby - NOT FAT - but she was always called fat = I had so many fights over it - even one of her school friends mum's hit me once for defending her. When we look back at the pictures now she was a perfectly healthy child and not at all overweight. And as I always said to her...beauty is skin deep and we are all areas of natural outstanding beauty!!!

Yeah it has stayed with me but I suppose I wa lucky that my nan was fabulous and she stood up for me as such. I have always been overweight to varying degrees so don't even know what it will be like to be slim. I was pretty lucky really I had a grey family including my parents who stood up to doctors who wanted to send me to "fat classes" and was never bullied really for it either I had the occasional comment but nothing too bad and I had loads of friends. I'm losing weight for me nobody else as all u girls have said. I do love your mantra tho Donna it's true we are all beautiful.

Hope your feeling better today Hun x

Right, I am meant to be getting weighed tonight but am in SO much pain with star week so don't know if I'm leaving the comfort of my water bottle! We shall see hoe I am in a few hours. I'm so bloated I'll probably be in for a gain (despite being good). Who knows with my body.

I'm exactly the same Sammy. I'm getting married next July and booked my venue over 7 months ago!

Good luck any other Wednesday weighers!

Hope your feeling a bit better today Ellen x

It's probably because of the headache, your heads all swollen and stuff... Lol
And a wise lady once told me 'get a flipping grip and stop scale hopping!' (thats the censored version lol) so don't do it!

[h=6]Jack had his 12 week weigh in today and he's 12lbs 3oz!!) My little chunky monkey ) The health visitor says his weight gain is perfectly fine and he's doing well. She's also asked me to start going to the breastfeeding cafe in town on a Thursday morning to offer my support and guidance to any breastfeeding mothers who may need it as she says i'm a natural and have lots of experience because i've been breastfeeding three months now and with my calm, chilled out personality she thinks I'll be a great help. It'll also get me out and about and meeting other mums too, so I've said I'll go. Have missed this weeks session now, but looking forward to next weeks!) xx[/h]

I did it, I did it, I did it!!!!

3.5lbs lost. 3 stone award. I am now an officially "normal" weight for my height :wee: I have gone from being obese to "normal", how flippin' brill is that?

Get in, get in, GET IN!!!

As such I have now set myself another target and have increased the amount I would like to lose by Christmas. It may be a long shot but I'm going to give it a bloody good go. So if you could adjust my target to 3 stone 1.5lbs Corky, that'd be brill.

Thank you wonderful ladies, you are all so brill and fantastic, and awesome. I owe you all so much (absent friends included). Love you all. xxxx

Thanks :)

I've read about that couch to 5k thingy and I've always fancied trying it. Thing is all my friends would rather have their teeth knocked out with a hammer than run, and I'd feel totally stupid doing it on my own! LOL I could do with a miniminer living next door to me :D lol

Aye getting back on plan works wonders! lol
Ohhhhhh FB games :( I'm total pants at games PP, but I'll willingly be your 'neighbour' :D I'm not bothered about being totally humiliated :p:giggle:

Hope you're feeling better now PP x
I just might take you up on your most generous offer Corky Games don't involve speed for the most part just need to have X no of neighbours or linkled people to add to buildings as "staff" Don't think you even need to do anything other than open your own version of the game and Accept a few (ahem) requests for stuff (just clicking a button). I'll try you out on it tonight then. :D

I'm much better thanks but sleep pattern is a mess again and getting more like a zombie as the week goes on. :D

Hi lovely ladies. I am just popping in to say that I am still alive (phew!!) and im sorry I have been a bad team tinsiler :( i have been hiding a little as ive not been the happiest of bunnies for a week or so and havent wanted to make everybody else miserable with my woes, believe me my posts would have been enough to make the smiliest of people sucidal!! i am feeling a little bit brighter and promise not to be miserable about these parts hehe :)

i fell out a little with SW last week but have been back at it this week and am hoping for some sort of a loss tomorrow. Feel like im treading water with my weight loss at the mo and that 4 stone for xmas seems to be sliding further and further away!

would love to catch up on all ive missed but would take me forever and a day, you ladies cant half talk, I have PM'd u tho Donna and Andrea thanks for the email I hope you got my reply! I promise to be a better team tinsiler from today onwards :) x
Welcome back Jo :D One of these times we'll all be doing well and posting at the same time. :D

GOTTHEHEADACHEFROMHELL.COM

I'm sure its from all the crap I've been eating!!!

Payback is a b****!
OMG hope it gets better soon hun :D

I have visions of Tina being striped in orange, smelling of lemons and toothpaste!

I'm in so much pain, first star week since having Miles...OMG!!! To top it off he wants to be attached to the boob 24/7 atm which doesn't help the cramping!!! OWWWWWWWWWWW... gonna go self medicate with chocolate (flexi day me thinks!)
OWWWWW :D

Thanks Donna. I know and you lot really are wondeful I just don't wanna be the moany one of the group I know everybody has there own stuff going on away from here. But I won't go missing again!

Wish somebody had a magic cure for my back still in so much pain and that's part of what is making me feel so fed up. I don't want to be very ultra dramatic but my life's been on hold with it as I haven't been able to do anything in over 6 weeks feel like a hermit. I just have eveything pinned on physio working.

Thanks again tho it's so nice for ppl to welcome me back :) I have missed u all x

I'd say the same but as I was AWOL for similar reasons I'll shut up' :D

2lbs off!! :) totalling 12.5lbs off in 3 weeks, nearly a quarter of the way there! Sooo chuffed with myself :) wits be nice to have the 5lbs losses each week but it's not realistic and that's just too fast to lose it. I'll be happy if I can lose an average of 2lb a week as that will get me to target for Christmas and I can start wedding dress shopping then!! :)

A nice visual aid too... My son weighs around 12.5lbs (will find out for sure at his 12 week check up on Thursday) so I've lost a Jack! Lol! :)

Hopefully get my 1 stone award next week!! :) and hopefully the weight will keep coming off once I start my running (though it will e more like jogging lol) xx
Well done on your loss. FAB result.:D

Good Morning Team Tinselers

Hope we are all in a good mood today? The sun is shining here for a change and lovely blue skies - long may it continue!!!! Camping from Friday so I would like it to be dry for the tent going up at least!!!!

WI tonight, not sure how I am going to go, maybe a gain, catch up from previous weeks plus to be blunt not been able to go to the loo since friday (I think) so I would imagine that is going to have a big affect. Need to buy some Scan Bran from class - get things moving!!

Busy day/week ahead, moving offices but not just office - actual building about 200mtrs across the way. Finish on Thursday so I need to get packing as not wanting other people to do it for me then I have no idea where anything is, not got the correct furniture tho so things will still be in boxes when I get back!!! Ah well............

Hope everyone has a good day and good luck to all the WI's still to come!!!

xx
Camping with this summer, my but you are brave. Hope you manage to find some decent weather. :D

Well.... Im glad u all had a great laugh! I had to laugh or id of cried! After i scrubbed with lemon juice my other halfs linx etc i look ok now! Hi everyone! If you don't mind I'll join in on this challenge?
I started SW on the 11th July and so far I have lost 4lbs.
Losing 4st by xmas would put me on par with the target I have in mind so it would be really helpful.

Jo those meals look yummy! I had couscous salad for lunch and spaghetti bolognaise for tea - stuffed now!

Went to look at those wedding reception venues today, both very nice but we prefer the hotel as it has the bonus of being able to have everyone who's travelling to the wedding stay over there and we would basically have the whole hotel to ourselves, so no chance of guests complaining if we get noisey! Just waiting on some quotes on food from them before we confirm though.

Ben just give Jack his first scare, me and Jack were looking in the mirror and Jack was cooing and smiling at our reflections and then ben popped up behind him, Jack jumped out of his skin, his eyes grew wide, the lips trembled and then he started crying and hid his face in my neck with a death grip on my hair!!! It was so funny, cute and heartbreaking all at the same time! Ben felt bad so once Jack had stopped crying he came round to say sorry and give him a kiss, but Jack took one look at his face and started crying again! :8855: Poor Jack! I told Ben that if he has nightmares tonight he will be sorting him out, but on second thoughts it might not be a good idea to let the object of his nightmares come into his room in the middle of the night to get him..... :p

Good job on the weight loss ladies! We'll both be skinny minis in no time! xx

Xx

Weddings are ridiculously expensive, wish we had just used the money to get married abroad and had a nice holiday lol. I am SO excited though, need to get moving house out the way then I can focus more on planning. I have WAY too many cake idea's. My colours are turquoise and pink (bright and summery). We are only planning on having about 60-70 people for the ceremony (venue has limits...what a shame!). I can COMPLETELY sympathise with you about the job center... won't start, as it will ruin a nice positive weddingy post! I am looking into wedding insurance, It's not too bad but think it's one of those 'look at the smallprint' jobs.

As for loosing weight before Jack can move about.... just enjoy the peace whilst he is relative immobile! Miles started crawling at 3-4 months, pulling himself up by 6 months and has been unstoppable walking/running/climbing since 9 months!!! Running after him and my nut job of a 3 year old I should be a waif!

Going into group on Tuesday and buying a countdown to take me to my holidays and fingers crossed.

xx

Congrats hun, you are doing so well! I have 7 weigh in's until my friends hen do (I have another before then but the 'outfitting' for that isn't so... well lets say its more forgiving!) anyway, 7 more weigh ins, I want at LEAST a stone off before then. NO more faffing. Grrr!

Hope your feeling a bit better today Ellen x

STS is really not bad in the circumstances. Let's hope you get that 2lb without having to strip off but hey of you have to do it you ent Hoyt go back there again anyways :) x

Much better thanks hun, and I'm good with a STS, it will be the last for a while, the only way is down! Come on girls!

Jack had his 12 week weigh in today and he's 12lbs 3oz!!) My little chunky monkey ) The health visitor says his weight gain is perfectly fine and he's doing well. Have missed this weeks session now, but looking forward to next weeks!) xx

Oh he's diddy compared to my boys! What was his birth weight? Miles was 14lbs 5oz at 12 weeks and he is my diddy boy, at 15 months he was just over 22lbs. My eldest on the other hand....well at 12 weeks he was 16lbs 1.5oz! A little beast! His weight gain is fine, measuring around average. Have you been to a breastfeeding cafe before? I've been to a few in my time, some are better than others. We stopped going shortly after Miles started walking as he was just a menace to all the little babies lying defenseless on their backs. I spent my whole time moving him from them. Have you got a plan of how long you plan to fed for? I'm still feeding Miles myself and will actually be starting peer support training once I've moved. Am hoping to retrain as a midwife (looking into Uni for Sept 2013, starting an access to HE in Health this Sept). Well done for getting this far with your feeding, luckily you seem to have a good HV!

Well done on the STS under the circumstances. :D Wedding plans sound great.

Oh just got carried away by everyone else's posts and forgot to mention I lost 2 lbs on Tuesday. Only a wee bit of my gain still to go. :D

Thanks, am so excited!

Well done on your loss hun!

Hi everyone! If you don't mind I'll join in on this challenge?
I started SW on the 11th July and so far I have lost 4lbs.
Losing 4st by xmas would put me on par with the target I have in mind so it would be really helpful.
Nicole x

Nom nom. Looks yummy. Recipe?

Ellen the wedding planning is so exciting! But part of me just wishes we could have gone abroad and done it instead, but we're having a church wedding and our families are so big that there would be a big fallout if we did something like that lol!

Jack was 7lbs 8oz and 21 inches long when I had him, exactly the same weight as I was! :) he seems to be growing well but I do know some babies that are beasts lol, I love little chubby babies, they're just so squishable!!! I haven't been to a breastfeeding cafe before so I'm a little nervous, especially as my HV said to just go and tell them I want to support people, I feel a bit like I'll be this stranger turning up and trying to step on other peoples toes! I plan to breastfeed until jack is one year old, then transition him over to cows milk, hopefully skipping formula completely, as im lucky enough to be producing enough milk that hes thriving on, and although formula is good now days, breast is still best, so i may as well use it if i can.

My HV did mention about the training in it that you can get in breastfeeding support too and that does interest me. In fact I would love to be a midwife, but it's just too expensive and I couldn't afford to do it right now, especially as I'm the only one earning at the moment. I think it would be an amazing job. My midwife who used to come out to me just after jacks birth said I'd make a great midwife and the midwife who delivered jack said I would too because apparently I knew more about it than her students did lol! Im a bit of a research freak and wanted to know absolutely everything that could and would happen in pregnancy and labour/birth etc so they were both surprised at the knowledge i had. Maybe it will be something I can do in the future, I don't know, but it would be nice and something I think I would enjoy, which is more than I can say for my own job at the moment! Xx

It's probably because of the headache, your heads all swollen and stuff... Lol
And a wise lady once told me 'get a flipping grip and stop scale hopping!' (thats the censored version lol) so don't do it!
Well Ems, my head is normally empty except for peabrain so you could haven't something there lol!

I don;t scale hop I just accidentally fall on them in the morning! And they are showing a STS but still got today and saturday before weigh in

Was hoping for a walk today but is raining cats and dogs this morning

That's brilliant Sammy - it sounds like you'll be a natural and as it will be good for you and Jack's social life

Love you all. xxxx
WELL DONE MY LOVELY - am dead envious!

Welcome Nicole - we are a very chatty bunch - just jump in because we are really friendly and a bit nuts. Good luck for the week ahead and I look forward to being part of your journey x

Ah poor Jack!!! Does he love Ben again this morning?

I'll join in this if that's ok. 4st might be a bit ambitious at this point of the year but I might as well aim high!
