I would weigh in nekid, but don't think group would want to see that!

I like my consultant. I also really like my group, a group of us are even doing the moonwalk in July! Should be fun (well as fun as walking 13 miles can be lol)

No, I don't think a nekid WI would go down very well at group :giggle: You could try it though :D One sure way of getting into the 17's lol

You're lucky to have such a good group :) I really liked the other people at group, we had a good laugh and got on well. We even used to go on nights out last time I was a member. They were such good nights :) I do miss them actually

Morning all, well only 10.30 and done in already!!! Have had two meetings in two days about students with eating disorders, it makes me so sad. I work in the Performing Arts Department of a college and am in charge of the pastoral care and the tutorial programe...bit like the old PSHE classes, sexual health, drug and alcohol education (Corky stop giggling!!) all of the embarrasing things the other lecturers don't want to talk about...that's me!! Basically I'm Mum to 200 students.....and most of the other lecturers!! The amount of students I deal with who have issues with food is unbelievable, have thought so many times that what they need is a good SW group!!! Most of the students are educated about nutrition and healthy diet within their course, they have a unit called "healthy performer" but the pressure they feel to look a certain way over powers the need to be healthy, I feel terrible for the girls that aren't eating...but the overeaters just make me want to cry.....I suppose because I identify with them. Some of the lecturers don't get it either, the anorexic's yes they get it, the over eaters it's just pull yourself together...stop eating so much...exercise more.....they, I have to tell you, are all very slim and I know have never had to worry about gaining weight, so so frustrating!!!! Sorry rant over....just thought some of you lovely people would understand!!

I commend you for doing the job you do Peacey.. I always wanted to become a shrink when I was in uni.. a big part of me is glad I went into banking.. I dont think I could take anyone heart aches.. The country's attitude to food is awful dont you think? the magazines dont help but its getting worse and worse.. when i was in school we never had the kinds troubles that the younguns face now a days.. so much pressure its ridiculous. kids arent kids anymore.. they're sexualised to the point of no return.

This is where good family values are required. I truly believe that.

I take my daughter with me to group. She goes free on the free2go programme if I pay. I always say to her it's her choice if she weighs etc but she always does. She loves the group and it's great to put her in control of her eating instead of me IYSWIM. She was on the 91 st centile and I had a letter as they weighed them at school. I didnt tell her about the letter as I thought it would do more harm than good. I saw my gp on my own about it and she told me about it. The gp said to either get her to maintain til she's taller or lose half a stone while shes growing and thats exactly what she has done. She had a very unhealthy relationship with food, just stuffing like there wasnt another meal and she did have good reason to do that due to her background but she has stopped doing that now and has learnt to make meals out of the magazine instead of the stupid stuff they did at school (biscuits, muffins etc) and now at 12 is back fitting into the teen clothes instead ladies sizes.

Sounds like you have your little one in check.. I read what you give her- its fantastic.. better than most of us on our good days :p and its great to read that she can still have her treats! she still is growing and a child yet.. going in to her teenage years no doubt.. but a child to you, right? you sound like a wonderful mummy lucia :) x

good idea???//

good idea for what?? :)

Lucia, your daughter sounds alot like my eldest, she is overweight which worries me but we are all doing the SW diet and she knows we are being healthy but doesnt know she is actively watching her weight if you know what i mean. My daughter will be 12 next month and she has lost 8lbs in 6 weeks which i think is a great steady speed, she is wearing a ladies size 14/16 still which i really would like to get down some more, she is quite tall for her age 5ft 2(almost) so doesnt look as big as she is, but her friends are all alot smaller, im very aware of it but her and her friends dont seem to notice at all which is lovely. Can i ask about how you do the Free2go as when i was at meetings my consultant was rubbish , so i have been giving her 3 x A choices 3 x B choices lots of free food and superfree foods and up to 10-15 syns a day. as its working would you say this is alright or do you have any other tips for me. She also comes to the gym 3 times a week and comes swimming 3 times a week with me, we all go as a family. sorry for all the questions but it sounds like your daughter is where im trying to get mine too :)

I read the food diary you put for your daughter and i agree with lucia.. i think you need to up the SF other than that its great :) it really is about educating ourselves and our children about eating healthily.. making the right choices and teaching your brain that you dont need to be eating greasy foods all the time..

i mean look at the amazing food we all eat on SW.. i made chicken chips and salad last night and it was awesome!!! better than any take away anyday and it was <1 syn per portion.. :)

Well done Lucia, it's so difficult isn't it to know what to do for the best, I do it for a living but I still struggle with my own lovelies!! My eldest daughter is very very like me physically and in her attitude for food. She is almost exactly the same shape as me when I was her age, we both go in and out in the right places, big bust, little waist, ample bottom, heavy in the thigh. She is probably a stone or so over weight but looks lovely. I just worry that she will end up very over weight like me if she continues to eat the amount she does, she cooks and eats healthily but she , like me, is a comfort eater. She came to SW with me last time and lost a stone, she was also going to aerobics and pilates several times a week and she loved it. You can't say anything to her about it because she get's upset!! My youngest was very slim, more like my ex husband, lovely legs, flat chest (which she hates!) but since she started work and turned eighteen and started going out (she's our party animal, that's like me!!) she has plumped up, just drinking and chaotic eating, she's comfortable with it though which is great. I always say though you can't have everything, Romi would like India's legs and India would like Romi's boobs, just be grateful you each got something your really happy with!! I am hoping that me finally losing the weight and permanantly changing my eating habits will have a positive effect on Romi, I know that when they were little treats and fun times always revolved around food so I have not always helped, and she watched me comfort eat through difficult times, in fact in a way they comfort eat with me, take aways when I was too exhasted to think about what to eat, chocolate and crisps in the cupboard at all times!!! Bad Mummy!!! xxxx

we always want what we cant have peacey :p and girls will be girls..hehe x

I might be tempted if I don't see the numbers I want lol.

There are some fab ladies in our group. I have made really good friends with a couple of them. One of them is coming to try on wedding dresses with me at the end of the month and we are off to London for the night for a concert (was meant to be going with OH but due to the boys we thought it best if one of us stayed here) The best thing is due to the job she has she has managed to get us free train tickets AND a free hotel!!!! I think I may love her... almost compensates for my broken windscreen!

ooooo london is great :D If you werent on sw id tell you all the naughty places to go and eat (especially the dessert places) but i dont want to ruin your weight loss :p

It should make things easier us both being on sw although I feel I may have to use some of my syns on Alcohol for the first time... Lol

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. I managed to stop a binge in its tracks and only ate a handful of buttons out of a big bag and a small bag of doritos. God knows I wanted to eat and eat but I have to stop associating comfort with food. Like us all, I suppose!
Even OH has said that before Xmas my losses were flying and since I seem to be stuck in a rut, even with the added body magic.

I'll try this week with no cereal bars, and just have toast and fruit for breakfast instead. It could be a thing where I'm actually not eating enough, do you think?

Roziee you've been keeping an eye on my food diary, what do you think?

Its entirely possible you're not eating enough, especially if you have upped your body magic!

Feeling a little bit crushed right now. Had a STS this week. I can't work it out. I've been good food-wise, kept under my syns, snacked on superfree...
I know I upped my exercise and water but this is the third week of that and my body has surely adjusted by now. The only thing I can think of is that I've changed from bread to alpen light bars since Xmas and since Xmas my losses haven't been so great. Connection?

Sorry Mandy I missed your post earlier on.

Sorry to hear you STS this week :(

Your food has been fine! But I will check again when I get home in the evening...

I don't think the alpen bars would have made a difference.. However if u do feel as if they could have an effect stop eating them and try out that theory.

And as wit the exercise. I found as soon as I started exercising I just stopped losing weight. However there are loads of people that won't lose if they DONT exercise.

It could be your body getting used to the exercise and although 3 weeks is a lot... I've known people who have exercised for longer and having slower losses but then their losses shoot up. The exercise will definitely be helping your inch loss... Have u taken measurements?

:wow: I could do with a friend like that! lol

Bloody fantastic hun. That's excellent!

Mandy, big hugs to you. An undeserved stay the same is the hardest cruelest thing for those damn scales to say.

What I do know with this diet is what works for one dosent always work for another so i'm not going to go on and on about food except for one thing.

I started eating a fibre plus bar every day. The lovely dark choc and almond. Counted in syns and everything and my weight loss def slowed as it was the only thing different I was doing at the time. Unfortunately, Tesco's had them half price and I had bought 25 boxes of them as they are very long dated :sigh:. However I put one in my youngest daughters lunchbox and she is very fussy and she came home from school declaring they are the best thing ever so she has one everyday and they have also made her much more regular. I stick to one bar a week now after weigh in with my cuppa, waiting for group to start.

Anyways, chin up chuck, you are doing so well. My trainer said to me that when we start an excercise programme (and I know you have upped the excercise lately) that the losses might go a bit wonky as the excercises will be changing the shape of our bodies and to do that it will have to turn fat to muscle. In the long run thats much better as muscle burns fat better BUT during the process it may make the scales look a bit depressing but overall it's the right thing to do. My gym put me on a funny machine thing that looks at your fat and muscle etc and said to go on it once a month and then you can see the changes in your body not just the numbers on the scale.

Just keep on keeping on, we are all cheering you on from the sidelines x
