Hello ladies, had a very busy day today, but am home now and recharging my batteries on the sofa with a bit of CDC thread therapy before bullying DD into music practise.

Emma - I'm so pleased you have been allowed home. I've been keeping track on facebook but look forward to your update tomorrow.

Fearless, nice to have you back with us. How did you get on at the doc's on Monday?

Hey Vickie, your ticker does work! Yay!! Hope you're having a good 100% day today.

Now - where's that Cheryl got to?

Emma, glad you are getting home. I can imagine what a painful ordeal you've been through, when l was in hospital re suspected gallstones the doctors were very concerned about my enzyme levels, liver & pancreas, hence me getting operated on within a few days.
Did the doctors mention anything about being on a VLCD possibly having triggered what happened to you? They did to me.

Take it easy over the next few days. :hug99:

Hey people, where are youuuuuuuu?

Emma - I hope you're feeling better and look forward to hearing from you.

Cheryl - where are you Hun? It's been a few days now, and that's not like you.

Fearless - enjoy your night out and tell us all about it.

Vickie - how are things going for you?

JLK - missing you too. Come back to us!

I've had a busy couple of days which have involved me getting back to gentle exercise, which is good. I did some Wii fit yesterday (about 50 mins of step and gentle hula hooping) and i bought Wii Zumba today and did a couple of the tutorials and a couple of the quick workouts (4-5 mins each) which got me working up a bit of a sweat (but I am very unfit at the moment).

Take care everyone.

hey ladies,
sorry ive been awol for the last 3 or 4 days.
ive had so much going on and to be honest i would have been terrible company so i stayed away.
after doctor giving me diazapam for recent problem of muscle spasms in my back i went on to also get neuralgia.
it has been really hard to cope with, i seem to be in constant intense pain in my head, eyes , jaw and ALL my teeth hurt horribly.
i cant eat or drink anything cold at all and to be honest, eating warm things isnt that much easier.
on the plus side, i do have some good news........
we got the house :D.
we have to sign for it on 4th july and then move in over the following week after so we will be in there within the next 3 weeks. :)
im excited and yet also really scared cause when my DLA stops and im in the process of appeal they will take my mobility car away and without it i cant travel at all so im gonna be housebound in an area not as close to my family as i would have liked to be.
however, the house is right for us and assuming i win the appeal and get the car back, seeing my family wont be an issue then.
trying to think positive.
Also went to my first sw meeting last night with mum, sis and aunt.
it was ok although none of them had very good weeks. mum and sis both gained 1 and half lbs. sis is totm so expected the gain but my mum wasnt happy as she has dont nothing different from the last 2 weeks (9lbs in first week and 4lbs in second week).
my scales said i gained 9lbs in the last week which i guess is to be expected since i was eating carbs all week long, but now i know my glycogen stores should be complete again so should now be losing weight ready for next weeks weigh in.
hope u ladies are well.
emma i hope ur feeling better now hun.

Yay!! You got the house!!! I'm feeling a bit rough to be honest, spent most of yesterday sleeping and the OH has been off today so will update properly tomorrow xx

Hi Vickie, not doing too badly thank you. I started exercising yesterday, and i've done a bit more today, so I'm feeling good about that (although I ache).

I am sitting here though, thinking that something fruity and citrusy would be lovely. Ah well, OH has just made me a redbush tea and I've still got some water to drink, so I'd better get working on that.

Emma's Hospital Saga!!!

Hello ladies! :D

Well...where do I start!!??

Went in by amblance on Saturday after going to the walk in centre on Friday, got sent away and told to see GP on Monday but at 4.30 Saturday morning woke up being sick and other stuff (sorry probably tmi) with excrutiating pain, passed out and collapsed (sp) but still insisted I was ok and just had cramp or trapped air when I came round and then about an hour later did it again and then couldn't move, I have never ever ever felt pain like that and hope I never ever do again! so got taken in to a&e and they thought kidney stones to begin with then did an xray and blood tests etc (not really sure what went on amongst all of this I was away with the fairies due to a rather large dose of morphine!) and discovered I had acute pancreatitis which they believed to be caused by gallstones. Being the weekend I would have to wait for my ultrasound until Monday so was in until that happened. Don't really remember a whole lot apart from sleeping, having my obs done and A LOT of fluids and morphine.

Monday came around and I waited and no scan...sso I thought ok well I'll wait mabe there were emergencies and then the same happened again on Tuesday, upon further investigation it turns out that they lost my ultrasound forms two days in a row and I had been swapped iver to the urology team from the weekend team but that hadn't taken place until mid Tuesday morning hence why I hadn't seen a doctor apart from a 5 min stint the whole time that I had been in! I finally got my ultrasound Wednesday afternoon when they then left me on a bed in a corridor for an hour waiting for a porter and it turned out I did have gall stones...lots of them! all about 11mm wide! the sister then essentially kicked me out on my backsided Wednesday night telling me to go home...I had no information about after care or when my surgery would be, I hadn't seen a specialist and had been off of morphine less than 24 hours and off of fluids less than an hour, the sisters parting shot was...you're lucky you came in when you did, you were not far away from being taken into intesive care! (brilliant...thanks!)

So, now I'm home, waiting for a surgery date, over half a stone lighter than when I went in, scared to eat any food thats not plain, bland and average to low in any kinds of fats (because apparently fatty food sets it off) and still very very uncomfortable.

Have decided to come away from my CDC for now whilst waiting for surgery and during recovery. Going to try and calorie count, eat low fat and exercise in the mean time, if I lose weight then its a bonus but don't want to put any on (although I'm in a snacking mood today so have probably already gone over my calorie count for today!) might join weight watchers but not really sure until I get myself on my feet. I am currently 15st 7.5lbs and this is the lightest I have been in a really long time probably in about 6 years (less than a stone to go and I'll be lighter than I have ever been in my adult life but right now I'm just not in the zone to do it strictly).

So there is my catch up! I will of course continue to post and keep lurking about!

Hope you are well! Love Love!!!

Hi Emma, nice to hear from you. Below is a post I made a few days back - I don't know if you've had a chance to catch up:

I had exactly the same thing almost 2 years ago to the day. I had dieted for my brother's wedding in Italy and after the wedding relaxed the diet and enjoyed the food. When we got back we had an Indian takeaway as there was no food in the house and I woke in the night with chronic pain and vomiting. I ended up calling NHS direct at 4.30 as I didn't know what to do with myself. I was diagnosed, like you, with pancreatitis and gallstones. I had my gall bladder removed a couple of months later and haven't looked back. Removal of the gall bladder is the only way to guarantee it won't reoccur.

After going first to Uckfield and from there to Haywards Heath, I was finally transferred to Brighton, where I was on a drip and nil by mouth for 6 days and then home on day 9. Brighton really isn't the best place to be. East Surrey is much nicer (I had my son there), and H Heath is nicer still, which is where I eventually had the op.

I never had a second attack as I was just too scared to eat anything in case it triggered one, but having had the op, I've never looked back (which is probably why my weight crept back up again ).

Well, I'm glad to hear you're back home in the care of your family.

Sending you lots of love,

C x

Thanks hun...horrible isn't it!

Just waiting for my surgery date which is a pain as I have two days of Deven going to his new school, a school trip to the sealife centre, driving lessons, a theory test and a week away coming up! I can't confirm on anything right now!

Have they not given you an idea of the waiting time yet?

You could always ring admissions on monday, see where you are on the list and ask how long it's likely to be.
