Attitude to fat people

I agree but " at least Im not ginger" is in tone with the latter surley, or maybe im just been awkward?? Yep I probably am

what is it about ginger ffs if I was ginger that would be equal to saying at least im not chinese or black or disabled or even fat. Im not having a dig but it seems some slagging off is acceptable.
Maybe im just a miserable old, single, greying, short ex-fat ba5tard.

Gaz, not sure I understand what you mean - are you saying it's ok to 'call' someone to their face in jest ??-

think you two have lost the point of this thread......:confused:

The ironic part about me posting that is that I actually turned ginger (well.... I like to call it 'auburn') after a daft bored bank holiday monday a few years ago when I tried to dye my own hair - doh !

Ok...just playing devil's advocate here...but isn't it possible that, having been through what we went through with weight on, and having gone through losing it too, we may find it difficult to respect people who haven't lost it yet?? I'm bringing this up cos I'm scared I'll turn I'll turn into a right cow.

s'pose we're all different but can't imagine that I'd ever feel like that about someone just cos they're carrying too much weight......

Ok ok - fatty what's your problem

I've got loads :D

For a start my bloomin new car roof has gone missing with DHL & the blighters can't find it... grrr

Aaaaaaaand to come full circle & get back on topic...

I have never judged anyone on weight but know that I have been judged myself... when thin I would hope that I continue to do so, as Shaz has mentioned some people don't help themselves though... :(

I'd be extremely disappointed with myself if I started looking down on others who are overweight once I reach my target. Can't say there's no way I'd ever do it though because people change and I don't know who'll I'll be in a few years. I'd hope it was still someone who has compassion and remembers what it was like being teased about being overweight.

It;s all connected really to ists and whether it's ok to be fatist (as it seems to be) people see fat first and the person second - see my example. One is definately treated differently when one is slim compared to fat, I know this from experience - it's not good, but i'm afraid to say I think it's human nature.

Shocking... hope you get it sorted....but I guess it depends on the job ?

Airline stewardesses for example need to be a certain size to work on the plane ? It's not being discriminatory in that case.... just practical...

Cheeky buggers - like I said , they can no longer ask if you have kids, are married, gay, hobbies etc etc etc but it's ok not to offer you the job just yet 'cause you must be lazy, slow, stupid, ignorant, ill, etc cause you're carrying a few pounds - if that's not fatist !!!- ooo makes me mad and I don't get mad often
